Is the MK Barbershop open on Saturdays also??? We will be arriving this Friday!!!!!!! Eeeeek! My boys need haircuts so I was hoping to bee-line it to the shop on Saturday morning. Does anyone know opening time for the shop??? Thanks!

I can't believe the weekend is almost here:bounce:

*bump*

Need to go from  to  ...anyone?

They were open on Sunday(12/28) so I would guess they are open Saturdays too.
BTW, if the kids are interested, ask for the color and pixie dust.

Harmony Barber Shop is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. Guests may be turned away prior to 5pm.

Thank you for the quick responses. One son wants colored hair (after the trim) and one just wants a trim straight up....he's a little spooked by the colored hair idea:p This will be our first barbershop trip in the MK! I'm really looking forward to it!

Since you can't make an appt., be prepared to wait awhile. Unless you're one of the first few in, waits can be an hour or more. They really take their time with each guest (as they should) whether there's a crowd waiting or not. This past early Dec, the line was out the door. Also wanted to mention, there's no way to tell who came in when, so you might want to ask what the order is when you arrive.

Tinks,

He'll love it, What a blast ! We now stop by every trip for a cut and color, for my nephews.

We got my DS5 hair trimmed and colored (Buzz Lightyear Green) with pixie Dust on December 25. This is the busiest day of the year. We went straight there at opening and, as Safari Steve said, found out they didn't open until 9am. So we went and rode a few rides and came back at 10am. We had to wait about an hour and the line didn't seem that long, but there were about 5 people (kids, adults, male and female) sitting around inside. But that was ok - the stylists are great and fun.

Just FYI, the color washed out fine the next morning. I had to shampoo his hair twice, but it all came out easily (and turned the bath water a nice shade of green ;) )

The only bad thing about the color is that it takes a while to dry completely ,so we had green pretty much on my shirt where DS would lean up against me and on his collar, etc. I was worried that it would stain forever, but even after letting those clothes sit and not be washed for 4 days, it washed right out of a white sweatshirt with no pretreating the stain. So take heart! :)

Michel did my son's hair. He is really really good with kids and other CM's told me later that day, "oh I see you got your hair done!" When I told them Michel did it, they said "Michel has been working there forever! He is really good!!!!"

Go for it!

Angie

What do you mean they don't know the order of who came in when??? They don't take names???? Do you have to stand in a line??? Can you put your name on a list and hang around near the store??

There is no list and there are no numbers. If you want your hair cut, you must stand/sit in the shop and wait. The other guests will know who is next (sometimes it looks like a long line, but most of the guests are just with one family member getting a cut). Don't worry, no one will jump in front of you.

If you ask michael, he usually knows who came in when. i don't know how he knows, but he does! they'll pose for all kinds of pics too. ask them to get the BIG scissors out! lol

We must have lucked out. Like I said, we went on 12/28. We walked in probably around 11:00. A boy was getting his hair done by the woman and a man was getting cut by the man(Michael). There was 1 family in front of us with 3 little girls(oh my goodness were they cute getting their cuts!). When the boy was finished, the mother of the waiting family said she was waiting for Michael and for us to go ahead. We waited maybe 5 minutes, tops. :D

My son, who will be 14 when we go in Dec., heard about the barber shop and wants to get his hair cut there! :bounce: Not "baby's first cut" but it sounds like fun!! :teeth: Any idea of the price?? I think he would like the green color too!! ::yes::

My son is 8 and i believe it was $15. Not too bad! While he and my husband waited, i got to watch Clay Aiken film his christmas spot for the parade!

the first time i have ever gone against the word of Safari Steve:

The other guests will know who is next (sometimes it looks like a long line, but most of the guests are just with one family member getting a cut). Don't worry, no one will jump in front of you.

I SO have to differ with you on this one. Twice (on two seperate trips) we had guests jump my DS and DH in "line". One i wrote off as pure and simple confussion, and it was a cut for a small boy. We didn't make a fuss and let him go - enjoy his memory.
The second time it was a full grown man who entered the shop long after my family. (and several others, i might add) He knew he was jumping and sort of had a "piss off" grin on his face as a few folks who where there before him politely informed him that he was not next. His claim was that he had come in earlier and then left for a "minute" to check out the firehouse. It doesn't work that way. You show up and wait there. You can not leave and then "reclaim" your "old spot" in line when you return.

By the way - it realy isn't a "line". Folks are all over in the shop waiting and at various spots outside the door as well. Tough to tell who is next and who you are after unless you politely do a "roll call" when you come in.

I don't want to paint it as a bad experience - still something we will do again. - Just a realistic word to the wise.

Thanks everyone for the replies. We plan to be in line before it opens...if everything works out...and hopefully we won't be waiting long! My husband thinks we will be wasting time, but we've been to Disney many times and I think we can afford an hour for a haircut. Plus, it's January...so maybe the lines for the rides will be shorter???? One can only hope! I'll let you know how it went---we get back Wednesday night the 14th and I'm sure I'll be DISing Thursday!

I noticed there is a small blackboard on the right wall (above the register), it showed a listing of who was next but guess what names were on it? Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, etc., lol. Maybe they should put some real names underneath that or have people sign in as they arrive.

I only get my hair cut at Harmony. I've been dozens upon dozens of times and not only have I never had a problem, I have never seen anyone else have one either. Michal and Maura are usually very good about keeping things in order, and most guests seem to follow "the golden rule". Sounds like you just had some rotten luck, but far from a typical experience.

Well stated loriandmatt......that is exactly how it is. Just check when you get there and see who is in line and what order. It's not too bad. We get our kids haircuts there everytime we go!

Tell your husband you definitely won't be wasting your time! it's a fun thing to do and sometimes the quartet comes in to entertain. It's part of the disney experience and you'll probably want to do it every time you go. I'm glad that it's an actual working barbershop and not just a window front. These shops are becoming a thing of the past but what i love about main street is, it IS in the past!!
