MK Backstage Tours

The only backstage tour we've done in Keys to the Kingdom and for the price (a little under $60) it is DEFINITELY worth it! It's 4 1/2 hours and you go all over Magic Kingdom, including down into the utiladors and back behind all the rides and everything. You also get to ride a few rides while getting some insider information! Lunch at Columbia Harbor House was included as well. You have to be 16 or older for the tour, so families with little ones will have to wait a few years.

We also did KTTK, in 2003. Worth it. You learn the level of detail that Disney goes to in order to make sure that everyone has a good, safe time. It was fun being briefed on how some questions would be answered in public, versus backstage. We'd also like to try the backstage safari (perhaps I'm getting the name wrong) at AKL. A colleague of mine has also done a tour at Holiday time: she saw behind the scenes of several parks and their holiday decorations, as well as the storage facility for the Holiday decorations.

Has anyone done the segway tour around Epcot?

We had a blast. You spend the first hour learning how to use the thing, and then the second hour zipping around the World Showcase before it opens. We lucked out: we did it the day after Thanksgiving in '04. We called two days earlier, not expecting to get it -- but we snagged the last two spots!

You get a commemorative pin, and get to pose for pictures. But it was November, of course, and cold -- in our pix, my wife and I are wearing down coats with the Epcot golf ball in the background

If you are DVC or AP, you get a discount, I believe. Do it and have fun!

I would love to do keys of the kingdom if I can sneak away from the family for a few hours. Unfortunately, they would be LOST without me. (or so I think).
