We are arriving to Disneyworld on Friday, March 24th. We were thinking on heading over to the MK for parade and fireworks. Do you think that there is any chance of getting on any rides, or will the lines just be too long?

That depends on when you will be able to get to the park. I would happily suggest just going for the fireworks and parade. (I suggest walking right up the stairs to the train station balcony as soon as you go through the entrance tunnels.) That way, if you're at MK later in your trip, when the parade starts, you will have already have seen it. Then you will be able to get on a lot of rides with very short waits while everyone else is watching the parade and the fireworks. Just keep in mind that you can't cross the parade path once it starts. You can either confine yourself to Adventureland, the south side of Frontierland/Liberty Square(Country Bears' side of the road), and the west side of Main Street (Crystal Palace side), or you can get "behind" the castle. Here you'll be able to get to Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, the north side of Frontierland/Liberty Square (Haunted Mansion side of the road), and the east side of Main Street (Plaza side).

We arrived at MK for parades and fireworks on December 28, also a busy time of year. I was surprised that we were able to do as much as we did. I believe we rode Splash Mountain (your chances of riding this increase if its a cool evening) and we also saw Mickey's Philharmagic and then rode the TTA, saw Carousel of Progress and I think if memory serves also rode Snow White. You can for sure ride TTA and see COP even on a busy night. Fastpasses will likely be gone but lines don't seem like such a tragedy on your first night when you're raring to go! Have a fun trip!

There are many rides that I enjoy riding in the evening at MK, such as Splash Mountain. When you're riding around the outside and at the top of the big hill, MK looks so beautiful all lit up. We even got on the ride right at closing time and watched the fireworks as we rode around.
Since you're not going over a holiday, the parks shouldn't be that crowded, so lines will be minimal. At MK, we usually see lines for Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh, but during slower times, this means 20 minute wait.

No matter what you decide...enjoy :)
