Mixed Nuts Part 2

"Oh, God, this is like that movie Citizen Kane, you know, where you later find out Rosebud was a sled? But we'll never know who Johnny was 'cause like, she's dead..."

I cannot get this freaking song out of my head now...

I know I've been lurking a lot lately. I have nothing to talk about. At least, nothing that anyone would want to hear about.

Anyone know anything about Savannah, Georgia? Other than it being one of the most haunted cities in the US?
 Just in case you need one & also because you're so hug-able!
Savannah--visited there last spring--loved it! the old part is lovely gorgeous, love the squares & old houses, the new museum & the restaurants. The shops are cool, too. The people were friendly.
...
I am singing a song. It goes like this:

Where oh where have my Lucky Charms gone
Where oh where could they be
My baby sister ate all the Lucky Charms
And now I have to go buy more or starve

I'm still working out the details but I think it's a pretty good start. I'd say I have real potential as a songwriter. :cool2:

Uh...yeah. Sweet.
Is there a second verse? a bridge?

a way out?

Hi! This is GoofyDad's DW. He wanted me to post and let y'all know why he has been out of commission. Yesterday morning, I had to take him to the ER with extreme back pain. Turns out he had a kidney stone. We went to a urologist yesterday. His diagnosis - "That's not coming out on its own". So, this morning, we spent in surgery and they blasted the stone to smithereens. He is feeling better, just sore and a bit drugged. He should be back to play in a day or so.
thank you KAMommy!
Sending :wizard: GoDaddy's way!
Yikes! kidney stones--painful!
Be sure to get some rest yrself (if you can)!

Hi you naughty little nuts...it's been awhile.

I hope everyone is doing well.
Hello PrincessPixieStarDustSparkleFairyPixiePicklePop!
Enjoying yr time out of school? or do you teach in the summer, also?

I think that was the last song on the cassette. But...

"The crowd was cheering, everyone was stoked
I mean it was like the whole school was totally coked or something
The band was playing Evergreen
And all of a sudden somebody screamed
Look out! The homecoming queen's got a gun!"
I've always enjoyed the sentiments expressed in this little ditty...
Thank you, Red Headed Friends!

It's the whole lack of sleep thing (see the time difference between that post and the previous one of mine). You should try insomnia AGAIN sometime Lisa (like you used to).
I am doing great! Although it would be nice if these women would let me sleep at night... :rotfl2:

Hey! That was my suggestion! Definition, pronunciation, and etymology -- if you're going to learn a word, might as well learn it. At a minimum, you at least have to use it in a contextual sentence for her, E. You can't just say the word is apercu. You need to say "Rather than read the entire Mixed Nuts thread, I just referred to Jean's apercu which was quite entertaining."

Diet Vanilla Dr. Pepper is even better (but don't try to buy it off the shelf cuz they don't make it -- you have to have it prepared that way at the fountain). DW doesn't even like Diet Dr. Pepper that much but with the vanilla in it, it becomes one of her favorite drinks. It's one of my favorite either way -- with or without vanilla.

-- Rob
Hey, sorry to keep you up nights, Robbo! but my kidneys have a schedule all to themselves w/o regards to my sleep requirements!
No bathrm upstairs, so it is tghe length the upper hall, down the aforementioned creaky staircase, traverse the main hall, step on sleeping dog, across the great room, jumping over construction materials &--finally!--the bathrm!
:woohoo:

Man, by that time I am WIDE AWAKE!.
DH has told me that since he leaves for work before sunrise, that the usual prescription for sleep is not appropriate, either :guilty:
"Entomology is the scientific study of insects. Insects have many kinds of interactions with humans and other forms of life on earth, so it is an important specialty within biology. Though technically incorrect, the definition is sometimes widened to include the study of terrestrial animals in other arthropod groups or other phyla, such as arachnids, myriapods, earthworms, and slugs.
Etymology is the study of the history of words - when they entered a language, from what source, and how their form and meaning have changed over time." Wikiperdia, font of all knowledge
A visitor gave me a helpful hint on remembering the difference:
associate ent (entomolgy) with ant
Why thank you, Rob!
Actually, the apercu was much longer so I deleted--I am not the best judge of my ramblings anytime past 1:30 am :rotfl:

Okay, I'm with Liz on this one!
apirateslifeforme The alcoholic version of vanilla Coke (I can't take credit for this, but I'll pass it on)...add some Nassau Royale to ginger ale. It really does taste like vanilla Coke.

Hi Jean:cool1:

Oh...I'm not a teacher, although summer off would be great!

Rosebud was a sled? WTH? How about a spoiler warning? So much for me finishing the second half of that movie tonight...

(Sadly, we truly may have spoiled part of this movie for PJ but, given the way her brain works, she is likely to have forgotten all about this by the time she watches C.K. anyway.)

-- Rob

Ooops! Pixie! Pardon moi!
Is my face red!
too many 'P's I got yr job mixed up with Paiges' :rotfl2:

Rob & Liz, according to gossips, 'Rosebud' was a nickname Hearst gave to Marian Davies, his mistress, referring to what would earn me many pts if I posted that info --& it wasn't for general public knowledge--that is why the old coot got so enraged at Orson Wells & tried to ruin his career!

Hi Jean:cool1:

Oh...I'm not a teacher, although summer off would be great!
Tell your boss(es?) that Jean said you could have the summer off. I'm sure they won't mind.

PrincessPixieStarDustSparkleFairyPixiePicklePop!

Tell them I said, make that vacay with pay, too!

Hello! Thought I'd check in before the pain meds kick in. So if I get more incoherent than usual, that's my excuse...

As KAMommy said earlier - I had some rocks in me, in places where there shouldn't be rocks at all. So we had 'em zapped earlier this morning. I feel like somebody rabbit-punched me in the kidney, but other than that I'm doing fine. There were two stones - one was 5 to 6mm and the other was 3 to 4mm. The doctor thinks they were originally one mega-stone that split apart when it started its incredible journey. I could have probably passed the smaller one unaided, but the bigger one came down first and was gumming up the works.

Hopefully I'll be back in full action by the time we leave for WDW / Vero Beach. The original plan was to leave Tennessee early Friday morning - do WDW through Sunday afternoon then on to Vero. I have a follow-up X-ray scheduled for tomorrow to make sure the stones are gone. Hopefully I'll get the green light to travel with that X-ray. Then I just have to get healed up sufficiently between now and then...

This WDW trip will be much less active than any others for me - I'll probably end up doing lots of people-watching. So maybe my next Trip Report could be more of a "Parks Fashion" analysis - which is usually fun at WDW but I rarely have much time to notice specific stuff. At Vero Beach we were just planning to be beach bums, which ties in well with plans anyway.

Well, here in KC, it's not so hard to do. Hit the Sonic Drive-In's for the chocolate Diet Coke and the Quik Trip convenience stores (which are all over here, but NONE in Cincy according to their website) for the vanilla Diet Dr. Pepper (mix it yourself at the self-serve fountain). Steak and Shake might also be able to play a role in those beverage choices -- I don't know if they do chocolate in their fountain drinks or not. Anyway, I pass all those places (sometimes multiple locations of them) every day. I just wish it came prepackaged on the shelf so I could buy it at $2.95 a 12-pack.
Yeah, so, I guess I'll just keep drinking normal drinks since apparently Cincinnati lives in the dark ages of no soda fountains.

Uh...yeah. Sweet.

 I thought it was good...so there!!

Hello PrincessPixieStarDustSparkleFairyPixiePicklePop!
First you insult my songwriting abilities and then you steal my nickname for Pixie. Not cool, Jean, not cool. :sad2:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!! Hey, I would read a park fashion analysis. You do see sooo many interesting things in the parks fashion wise. Make sure to take plenty of pictures.

No fancy fountain drinks out here, either--well, I guess Eckerd's (dairy farm) would put some Quik in the cow juice.
Hmm...i believe we are having 'artistic differences' :rolleyes1
Neenor neenor!
I colored it in all nice & pretty & then stole E's Pickle Salute, too!
I am an equal opportunity plagiarizer! :cutie:

Yes, GoDaddy--get well soon!
We eagerly await yr fashion report! pirate:
Be sure to take pics--we are low on hairyguySpeedo shots & you know how much we appreciate those!

crap! I'm sure glad we skipped HHI this year or I might have been the target of GoDaddy's rapier fashion wit! :scared:

Rainbow coding. This could be fun.

Cow juice?:scared: That sounds like something you would find in E's neck of the woods. She is in charge of all of our bovine needs.

You'll see it my way eventually. Just wait. You'll be standing in line for my autograph soon enough.:rolleyes1

Let's refrain from speedo shots.

I live in the sticky sticks but own no bovines, ovines or porcines! I do have a creepy little Boston Terrier dog--so you all can come to me with all your prissy doggie needs! :sunny:
Reasonable facsimile of the Mighty Zip-ster:
BostonTerrierPJ3Years2.JPG

Cool! I won't even need a FastPass! :rotfl:
I, for one, appreciate a fine SpeedoHairyGuy shot. Come on, PJ, you know you like to look, too!

I'm dizzy from all the color--just like in the '60's
:hippie:

PJ! Cincinnati has fountain drinks. I'm not talking about "old-fashioned" soda fountains, just normal ones. Something like this:
Fountain20Drinks.jpg

You have Steak and Shake in Cincinnati and they do have chocolate (and vanilla and cherry) syrup for flavoring your soft drink so you can try a chocolate Diet Coke there. It doesn't appear you have any Sonic Drive-In's in Cincinnati, however. The closest ones of those are in Maineville, Hamilton, and Franklin.

I, for one, appreciate a fine SpeedoHairyGuy shot. Come on, PJ, you know you like to look, too!
Jean, I would post one of me for you but I can't afford to get any more points. Sorry.

Oh...by the waaaay, Rob.......I just happened to notice my diminished status in your siggie!!!!! What up wit dat????? :confused3

:dance3: GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!!!! :dance3:

Obviously E and/or Jean are slacking in their morning greeting so I took over for the day!!!! :flower3:

Now I have to go. I was up far too late reading all the evil on the DIS!! :sad2: It's been a long time and it was great fun!!! :yay: Now I'm tired.

Buh Bye!!! popcorn::

Something else I thought about last night regarding Citizen Kane...if you pay close attention to the opening scene, you'll realize that the whole movie is null and void. Think about this...the plot is the quest to find out what Kane's last word, "rosebud," means. However, if I'm remembering this correctly (I haven't seen the movie in many years now), the opening shot shows Kane alone in his deathbed. He croaks out "rosebud" and dies. THEN the nurse walks in. So...who was there to hear his last word? :confused3

Yes, I know that supposedly "the butler heard it"...but the butler was not shown in the room. And if he was there, wouldn't he have gone out to get the nurse, instead of waiting for her to come in on her own?

I took a few days off from the DIS and realized that it really was taking up a whole lot of my time and have decided that I'm going to limit my posting to the Trip Report Boards. I can't seem to keep up with both :sad2:

I will miss posting with you all on a daily basis but I'll stop by from time to time for a visit and see how you're doing.

For those of you who have TR's - I'll see you over there

Ok that's just way too much to think about this early in the morning. Some people would find that offensive Liz. I don't know who, but someone would.,:rolleyes1

Hi nutters. Long time no chat. Got back from the World yesterday. Had a GREAT time. I think GF is overrated though. Not a good bang for the buck.
