Mixed Marriage 2: The Conversion Continues..... now complete

Yeah, I'm a medical writer. There are some pretty convincing papers out there for the paternal affect on twinning (for example, Paternally derived twinning: a two century examination of records of one Scottish name. By St Clair JB, Golubovsky MD), which states "The data presented show (i) the unique feature of clear direct paternal influence on twinning in three families; (ii) paternal factor(s) determination in both DZ and MZ twinning; and (iii) a definite association of twinning tendency with a partial male infertility, which corresponds to the prediction of the Infertility/Twinning Paternally Dependent syndrome hypothesis. The hypothesis of a founder effect explaining the similarity of A, B, C families and the possible localisation of the paternally dependent twinning factor on the Y-chromosome are currently under molecular investigation."

DZ = Dizygotic (2 eggs) MZ= Monozygotic (1 egg)

Note the possibility of paternally-dependent twinning factor on the Y chromosome.

I am absolutely a life-science nerd. And I don't speak without facts. Usually.

Edited to add: Though I certainly didn't mean to sound um...negative? Nasty? Something else unkind?

No I won't go into Turner syndrome or fraternal twins of different racial descent (though I have seen the pictures, thank you Genetics 401).... yes, one would think there is some genetic component to identical twinning but so far no leads (and not from lack of trying.... it would be a multimillion dollar advance for breeding any sort of commodity animal....) We (meaning the scientific community not the DIS) have noticed that something about handling the zygotes in in vitro fertilization (IVF)does significantly increase the rate of identical twinning.... go to a Mother of Multiples meeting and you will see in there too... lots of triplets and quads that contain a set of identicals... and I know of from another board (not personally know) 2 sets of quads that are 2 sets of identical twins... both concieved via IVF and both moms chose to implant 2 zygotes to preven HOM (high order multiples.... ie more than twins)

ok back on topic: DISNEY WORLD..... the twinkies go to the Magic Kingdom...
actually the next installment is on DH's computer and he took it with him...

On the bright side, by the time you leave for WDW, you should be all better, or at least non-contagious. Unless of course you re-infect yourself. So keep your hands out of your face for the next 48 hours! :grouphug:

Dee47, TwinkieMama, Sirius:

I'm possibly a closet nerd. But I was a band geek....no, I didn't play the flute or go to band camp! But, this one time, on a band trip to Disney.....

Luke, I am your father!

Actually, I'm a nerd with an attitude. Your basic worst nightmare. But I promise to be nice and give the thread back to TM now.

I am a serious closet nerd :woohoo: I can't figure out HOW TO put the quotes in a yellow box like ya'll are doing. Being a nerd with a southern slang makes it all the worse. People then think I am like Forest Gump LOL UGGGGGHHH :teeth: Plus to make matters worse I have Add(attention deficeit) just incase someone thought I had an adding problem... :rotfl2:
Poor lady that worked at walmart said goodmorning to me 4 times before I registered HEY she is talking to me :lmao:

Oh yeah... Twinkie Mamma I have litterly rolled laughing at your trip report.... You and Utahmamma ROCK!!! OT for UtahMamma... Do you know how to make fry sauce? Someone told me they have a fry sauce in Utah that is awesome but I forgot what they make it out of. Now snapping back from my ADD moment HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! Twinkies

A few quick points:
1) I, and only myself, am the reason we had twins. I was really in the zone that night and I could tell that some serious reproduction was going to result. In fact, I held back a little at the end because I feared we would end up with a litter of 4 or 5 kids.
2) TM, all you had to do was say you had a headache. Claiming pinkeye is going a little too far.
3) STOP all the science talk. One of the reasons I left my former career was that every social outing turned into some scienctific debate, which I don't want to hear about during my leisure time. Now, TM introduces me to these boards and now the same thing happens here. The next person who tries to do any scientific educating on this thread should expect an unpleasant visit from me in the near future.

DB, at the bottom of each post there is a "Quote" button. Click it to quote the post you want. You can then choose to delete the parts you don't want to respond to, or just quote the whole post.

Fry sauce Recipe and variation:

1 part Ketchup (or Catsup)
1 part mayonaise

Stir well
Dip french frys into
Eat (one for me!!!! NOT a healthy dipping sauce!)
* can substitute bbq sauce for Ketchup for a different sauce with "kick"

Alot of fast food joints in Utah offer "Fry Sauce" for their deep fried side orders. In fact up untill recently, McDonald's even offered it for a choice like honey mustard, sweetn sour etc.
Usually if you ask for a packet of mayo you can make it yourself.
Especially fattening if it's CHEESE fries!!!!!

VERY UN-SCIENTIFIC!!!

Happy Anniversary twinkies...Bummer about the pinkeye :guilty: I didn't know this site could be so educational. What's up with that? Have a great time on your next trip. I paid ours off today so 45 days until our first trip to Disney with the kids. A side note..It is refreshing to see the marriages that are going strong. We will be married 15 years in December and have four kids too.. :thumbsup2

(Sorry to everyone who was bored to tears during the unscheduled science break... soon I'll be back in school and people will be paying to be bored by my lectures and I won't inflict them on you nice people. So an apology all around and back to the show.)

So the Twinkies got up, got dressed and got to the bus stop in record time. We were at the MK before the official opening and again we choose to position ourselves to do Fantasyland first. We were not close enough to see, much less participate in the opening ceremony which was fine… magic should be shared not hoarded. And as soon as the they released the mad bulls, or Disney park goers we walked with purpose towards Dumbo. The little guy with the big ears has got to be first. We rode a couple of times and took the once again traditional but non-imaginative pictures. Quickly the wait time swelled to the 40 minute range. Amazing isn’t it? Fantasyland goes from dead to jam packed in no time flat in June. Then we made our way around the Magic Kingdom- Twinkie2000 style… which was much like Twinkie1998- we hit the classics, skip Space and Splash Mtn, heavy repeats on Peter Pan, Pirates and Haunted Mansion. We try to get DS on Splash and he wavers but in the end isn’t ready to ride. And after the Bug debacle we don’t push him. By midday we are really hungry….. DH gives me the secret look for “it’s not in the budget but let’s just get something to eat because I am hungry” so I lead them over to some benches near Pirates (we always seemed to end up there) and pull from my backpack, all Mary Poppins like……

My leftover pizza from Unos.

There are not words to tell you just how wonderful that pizza tasted. Seriously, I am getting hungry just thinking about it six year later. It was a veggie delight and it was slightly warm from being toted through a summer day at a Florida theme park. It was Chicago style which means thick and wonderful. We all loved it. Even the non-veggie fans. We each ate a piece and were kind of sad when it was gone…. Yet we were full. And completely ready to take on more Disney World. So Yo-ho-ho- another spin on the Pirates Life for Me Ride.

Ok, if you go straight to Dumbo without stopping to shop or pin trade, how long of a wait is it? We have traditionally bee-lined it to Space Mtn. and gotten right on (if you are tall enough, you WILL ride! well, except for DS17 when he was 6!). We love Dumbo but not the lines so we only ride once per vacation.
Weren't you worried about the un-refrigerated salmonilla pizza festering in the heated pack pack? Still sounds good though.
I have never been on Peter Pan (the ride, not the person)! There. I said it. We were o-so-close last year, but never did. I think I saved my fast passes to scrap-book when we didnt ride for whatever reason. See? I'd suck at writing a TR a year later, much less 6 years later!

if you are in the first group: no wait
next few groups:5-10 min

If we are riding Dumbo it is our first stop and we usually ride 3x and and by the 3rd ride the wait is 20minutes ish after we get off it is at least 30 min and we do not ride again....

we like Peter Pan- I don't know why- it isn't fast, it isn't scary, it isn't the best... it just is Disney to us....

I saved my fastpasses to scrapbook too... and didn't even do that....

as for the pizza- it was cooked and covered with cheese.... cheese was invented in the days before refrigeration...
would I do the same with mayo- no
I am a rebel, I know.

TM, if I answer that, will TD do bodily harm???

First of all, understand that I have no idea which cleaner you're using, so I wouldn't be able to give an educated answer to begin with. Secondly, as a rule, lens cleaners should not go in the eye. Ever. They usually contain other stuff (in addition to boric acid). The concentration of boric acid may also be too high. Some people may have been doing it, but getting health advice from personal accounts on the internet is often the quickest route to disaster. Keep the eye clean. Wash your hands frequently. Keep hands away from face. You can get OTC eyewashes with boric acid, I believe. That's safer. Also, don't wear your contacts while the pink eye is going on.

Good luck. And safe healing! :grouphug:

ETA: Keep using the antibiotic! An eyewash is no substitute.

I have never been on Peter Pan (the ride, not the person)! :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Another diet coke through the nose moment....
