Has anyone eaten here..it is in Japan at Epcot...My daughter is fascinated with the japanese culture and we thought it would be a fun experience for her and her brother..anyone ???

I'm not so sure how good of a reflection of Japanese culture Teppanyaki is, quite frankly. One of the more common complaints about the place is that it is pretty significantly Americanized.

We ate there but it wasn't any fun. Our chef gave us no show whatsoever. We'd have been better off at a Benihanas.

We eat here every trip and we love it. My kids have a lot of fun, the chef is usually very personable, and they like using the chopsticks. I agree, it's not really a reflection of "Japanese Culture" but it's a good time. :bitelip:

This was the only restaurant we were disappointed in when we went in June.
The food was OK, but nothing spectacular. The show was fair, but we've seen a much better performance at our local Ginzu Steak House restaurant. If we had it to do over again, we'd spend our dining dollars elsewhere.

My kids both like it there. We have taken a break the past 2 trips and they were glad to eat there this time around. DS is more adventurous with food than DD and he did at least try the seaweed salad - which WAS good. That said, the food is not spectacular, the chef show is not spectacular. Once you've seen it, it's the same. The quality of your "show" depends highly on the personality of your chef - some are much more entertaining than others. It's worth trying.

I agree with most of these comments - we LOVE hibachi and eat at our local one at least twice a month, but this was nothing special - decent, but I won't waste time on it again.

Although I'm not an expert, I have had travels in Japan. I have been to restaurants in Japan where they cook infront of you, but it looks more like a diner with the grills directly infront of your seat at a bar. They don't put on a show, but similarly you get your food directly off the grill.

I personally think that all of the food is good through WDW (not 5 star), but if you relax and enjoy, you'll have a great time at Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki. Let the chef have some feedback, and order something different than chicken!

Enjoy!

Wow -- it's always eye-opening to me to see the range of experiences and opinions! Our DS, 8, is also very interested in Japanese and Asian culture. We ate at Teppanyaki in December and are returning this December -- it was one of our favorite meals of the trip. It's true -- our chef was less "entertaining" than the chef at the next table, but we didn't feel that it was enough of an issue to put a damper on our enjoyment of the experience, and the food was outstanding (in our opinions). Regardless of how authentic it is, or not, I would reward your child's interest and curiosity by eating there, judging for yourselves, and perhaps seeking out other Japanese restaurants in your area (if that's possible) or on future travels....

Last time there we really didnt care for it, Chef was not very personable and food was just OK. Not really worth it to us anymore.

I can't wait to try it....Something new and different from what we'd normally go for....:) I have read mixed reviews but it makes me want to go EVEN more...If I only went to places with 100% positive reviews I could end up missing out on a lot IMO. Go , have a blast and indulge into your daughters love of Japan===even if it is Americanized .

thank you all for your feedback..we like to try new places and we will give it a shot..like all of you say try it once ... :thumbsup2
