Mission: Space...did it make you sick?!

I like the ride and can ride it, close my eyes, look around, etc and not feel sick. Can you tell that I'm the person who challenges authority? :rotfl:

My DH was worried about trying it since he can't ride teacups type rides without feeling sick. He almost didn't ride it, but then decided to try it and he loved it. He rode it another time that day and again another day.

We had taken ginger capsules, but I think I would have been fine without them.

This was not an enjoyable experience for me either. Just didn't like the feeling at all. I doubt I'd do it again.

I've ridden it twice. The first time, I was a little panicky (don't like that closed in feeling), but was okay. The next time I rode, I did not feel right for a few hours afterwards. I did not get sick, but I fought off the feeling that I was going to be for hours. I don't ride it anymore, and it drives my children crazy. They do it every trip (DS13, DS9, DD8). Now my daughter even sticks with me and lets the boys go alone! It's just not worth the chance of feeling like that for me. On the other hand, I love mega roller coasters, TOT, RNR, HULK, ...have never had a problem riding anything else.

Well I made it just to that point when you think "Oh my Gosh I am going to pass out. Who is going to get me off this ride" when you then enter the orbit. So I guess I was exactly the kind of person that tested it and said "ok stop the spinning here! right here!" I didn't get sick after I was a little shaken up but within 5 minutes I was fine. But I don't think I need to do it again thank you very much. It is a great ride-- never have done anything like it-- but I hope to never have to do it again. :rotfl2:

I like working the buttons and knobs and stuff during the mission. It keeps you busy and active.

My friend and I went on it with our daughters (who were both 9 at the time) and all of us enjoyed it, with no problems at all. However my mom and aunt went on it and said that their stomachs felt funny for an hour after they got off of it so I guess it just depends on the person! I'm glad I am able to handle it because I love it and would enjoy riding it again :)

Out of 8 in our group only one rode. This was DD15's best friend. She rode it by herself because none of us wanted to chance feeling horrible for the rest of the day and we had ressies at Chef Mickeys that evening. She came off of it okay. She didnt feel bad, but said it was intense. It just wasnt worth the risk to us. I have read of so many people coming off feeling bad for hours and those who actually throw up!! Not for me- no thanks! I would rather feel good and enjoy everything the park has to offer.

Anyway, afterwards she was in the bathroom for about a half hour puking her insides out :worried: ...though I had to laugh because I knew she couldn't handle it... :rotfl: :sad1:

Yeah, that is totally hysterical  Remember fate has a way of getting even with us when we are unkind.

During the preview in July 03 DH went on with DD#1 and 2, as DS was too short. They came off and said it wasn't that bad, so I went on with DD#2. From the time you are "straight up' ready to launch I was just praying "please don't let me throw up". Afterwards I wanted to sit down right away and one of the CMs wouldn't let me! He said "oh, you'll feel better if you keep on your feet"--so I had to go outside and sit down for about 10 minutes. I should have known because I almost get sick on Body Wars and Star Tours as well.
Next time DS was tall enough, so I just went through all of the pre-show with the family and then bailed at the last minute.

Mission Space, my DS7 and I loved it. I thought he would be VERY SCARED but he liked it so much we had to go right back on! We went on a total of 5 times throughout our vacation
there was one time I felt a bit quezzy but bnever did I think I was going to vomit!

DH and I have ridden this probably 10 times in our last couple of trips. It has never bothered either one of us in the least. No complaints at all. And, in all those rides, we've never seen anybody else come off acting sick, throwing up, complaining about feeling sick, etc.

So I'm guessing that you and BYC are perfect people who have never done anything even the slightest mean. Yes, practical jokes can sometimes seem cruel but the OP didn't ask for your moral guidance, she asked if anybody else got sick in Mission Space, so leave her alone.

Last Dec. we had lunch at Le Celliar and then rode MS with DD9 and DN10. I was a little concerned that they might get sick, right after lunch, but they wanted to try it and they loved it. We rode it 4 times in a row. DH and I rode it in 2004 and didn't have a problem with it then or in 2005. It is one of our favorites at Epcot.

Mouseketeer, we have a similar sense of humor. When I was about 13, me and my younger sister convinced our grandma to go on a ride just like Kali (at Cedar Point), we told her she would not get too wet :rotfl: well she got soaked and me and sis had a good laugh. Grandme laughed too and still jokes about how we fooled her all those years ago.
As far as MS goes, there will be one less family in line during the kast week of June. I can go on any coaster with my hands in the air, but spinny rides :crazy2: :headache:

After riding it three times in a row on a slow day, I ended up with a slight headache that stayed with me the rest of the day but I never got sick.

She may not have asked for moral guidance, but she posted what she thought was funny on an open forum, so I can express my opinion on it. And I don't think there is anything remotely funny about someone puking their guts out. :crazy2: And I say shame on anyone who would stand by and do so.

I've never ridden MS, BUT I heard the CM security guard who opens the park tell us about the "Vomit Comet." That is their nickname for the ride. And that little fanny pack they all carry is full of latex gloves for cleaning up after guests on the ride.
:rotfl2: :scared1:

I'm the opposite of everybody else. I absolutely LOVE the launch. It is awesome!! However, when you wake up from hypersleep and start dodging comets, that's when it bothers me.

I ride M:S about once every other trip. It has to be one of the last things I do. I usually get on Spaceship Earth right afterwards to relax.
