Mission Space? Calmer side?

Has anyone ridden the new "calmer" version of MS? I have ridden the original a few times and loved it, but I would like to take my daughter on, but I want to start with the calmer section. She is 9 and loves roller coasters such as SM, BTM, etc. How does it compare to the original ride in MS?

Same "everything" (they made a tiny audio edit during the "set-up")
EXCEPT without the CENTRIFUGE in operation for those capsules.
These "less intense experience" capsules still "tilt" a bit... just like before... but no extra "G forces" are put on your body without the centrifuge spinning.

Very tame.

(Think "Soarin' " with a story line and no oranges). ;)

I am one that can ride a the Hulk & DD, but do not like the wild side of Mission Space due to the spinning. I liked the calmer side. The difference is the spinning. I think the difference is that the less intense side does not have the feeling of not being able to move your head or hands without a struggle... feeling that you get from the spinning. Other than that, everything else was the same... I have done both sides more than once & now will not do the intense side anymore ;) ... now that there is an alternative version

Wow, I didn't know there was a calmer MS. I really did NOT enjoy it the first time I rode it, but will try the new version in August. Thanks!

How does the new Mission:Space compare to Star Tours? My son generally hates thrill rides, and I think the original M:S would be too intense for him, but if the calmer side really is tame I think we'll give it a try this December.

I think it compares to Star Tours. You still feel the simulator, without the side of nausea that accompanies the wild side!

I have heard that mission space has very tight seating. Is this true?

Nope.

Seating area for your body is very roomy.

After you are seated, the front-panel closes-in near your head (so you can reach the controls and see the view-screen), but its not at all tight for the rest of your body (even if XL "Pooh-sized").

There's not even a seatbelt in the attraction.

is this new milder ride okay for someone who has a mild heart condition?

I haven't been on the ride myself, but even if I had, it seems to me that this is the sort of question it's hard for anyone here to try to answer. I'd suggest you learn as much as you can about the ride, and then discuss with the person's doctor. (That's actually part of the question for me too . . . my DS has a couple medical conditions, and after talking with his doctor I'm trying to learn more about this ride specifically.)

If you can ride the simulator rides (like Star Tours), then you could definitely ride it. It tilts you back into a reclined position for the launch and moves around some during the ride. Once you tilt forward into the chest restraint but not that far. It was much less intense than a rollercoaster. But, if I had any reservations at all I would skip it. There are too many other things to do, and it isn't worth it to take a chance.

Also, if you have motion sickness (I do), you can just close your eyes and it isn't bad at all.

It is fun to wait in "Mission Control" at the ride exit if you have others in your group that want to ride it. It is very cool there, and there are lots of fun things to do.

Thanks for the reviews rode MS and did not like the feeling after.

Was that the original M:S, or the new one? I'm curious if anybody's had trouble with the calmer one.

Due to medical concerns I had, I rode the tamer side and really enjoyed it. DH rode the "original" side and really loved it. He did say that I should not ride the original so I stayed with the tamer side.
