Mission Space - as bad as they say?

Welcome to the DIS, Fin!!

As said, the green is great. If you can do Star Tours, you should be fine.

We went on it before they tamed it down. I LOVED it, the kids loved it, hubby got sick. I think he got sick because he closed his eyes. :confused3

First time I rode M:S was in 2004. I was fine getting off it. I didn't even know/feel it spinning. My sister, who suffers from motion sickness, was a bit oozy... but we just took a few minutes to rest up and get some water.

I just went back in Sept rode the "Extreme" one. Again I was fine, my boyfriend was fine.

I did not ride the less "extreme" version to compair.

My only suggestion is, don't eat before you ride it.

When my boyfriend and I went, we headed straight to Epcot, rode M:S and then got breakfast.

I haven't known anyone in my party to get sick on Mission Space. Our DD has been on it several times (at age 7-9) and has never had a problem. Go on the green side if you have concerns..then try the other too.

I rode it before they calmed it down and got really sick. I don't suffer from motion sickness so I didn't see it coming (even though they warn you about a million times before you get on the ride :) ). If you have any problems with motion sickness I would try the calmer version, if not give the original a try and see what happens.

It was my 5 year old son's favorite ride (Even over Buzz). We rode it about 5 times (green side)

the only reason you will get sick is maybe if you get motion sickness EASILY or you just weren't following there directions- DON'T LOOK TO THE SIDE & DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES!!!!! That's really the only reason anyone gets sick this is a great ride and I hate how its gotten all that bad publicity.

sorry, just had to blow off some steam there lol

We did MS for the first time last week. We went on the green side first because my husband was not sure if he'd like it. Had no problems and was pretty tame.

We did orange team the next night and I could definately feel the difference. It was an experience, not one that I would ride over and over again in the same day though.

I did not see anyone get sick, the part with the spinning is a the beginning after liftoff and after you get through that it isn't as bad. I had the feeling of pressure on my chest and it was hard for my eyes to focus on the screen after liftoff.

Definately do green team first and go from there. I couldn't believe the amount of smaller children I saw on the orange team though. :confused3

We first rode it in 2004 before they made a milder version. I normally get motion sick but I followed all of the suggestions (like keeping my head back and keeping my eyes open and forward) and did fine. The day prior I had ridden Star Tours and had the rest of my day ruined because of motion sickness. My DW rode Star Tours with no problems but Mission Space really did her in. This past June we rode the green side and had no problems at all.

My DH and DS loved it. Did not get sick at all, though my DH didn't care for the ride itself. My DS wanted to do it again. They did have someone on the ride with them who had an accident. I do not mean the throwing up kind, from the other end. It was an older man. Poor Man!!

  This was me, I went on it in "2004" and got really sick. Had to go to first aid and rest for an hour. My DD felt alittle oozy, and DH felt fine. I did KEEP MY EYEs forward at ALL TIMES, it just didn't work. I will never go on that ride again!

Star Tours does me in everytime. However, I've ridden MS probably a dozen times over the last couple of trips. It's never bothered me. I will say that sometimes my eyes have a hard to focusing on the screen, but I've never felt ill. Rode the green side a couple of weeks ago to compare, it wasn't as lame as I figured it would be, but orange is definitely better.

DH rode it (orange side) for the first time last week and came back looking a little green! He thought the continual warnings about being sick and where the "accident" bags were made him feel worse worrying about it before takeoff. He said it was all 40ish guys like himself on it together and they all looked a little yucky afterwards--DH said he had no business being on that ride. I told him he was just getting old :rotfl2: !

My DH was shot for 2 days after riding mission space. He wouldn't ride it again. Me, my DS and DD loved it, it didn't bother any of us. In August my DH and I rode the mild (green) side and it was pretty good. I'm glad they added the milder ride. If they didn't my DH wouldn't be able to enjoy the ride.

I waited for a couple years looking forward to riding MS after seeing the building going up in a previous trip. The experience was everything I hoped it would be. I think it is one of the great rides at Disneyworld.

I have rode MS many times before the calm down took place, and saw several getting sick, but mosly because they didn't follow the instructions. I have not been sick from the ride, and on different trips now ride both sides, and enjoy both. Start out with the calm side, get a feel for the side, and then try the more intense version.

I went on it in Oct2004 & did fine. Went back April 2005 followed all the directions. I got off & thought I was having a heart attack. I has to sit down for a hour, with cold clothes on my head & neck. I asked where Medical was. To far to walk then, Maybe now they have one closer. I'm not getting on it again when I go in Dec. I well be on the milder version.
My son is seizure disorder & he rode it twice the first time we where there. I don't think I'll let him ride it this year. It does say caution if you medical problems.
