My daughter will be 5.5 when we visit Disney. She is pretty adventurous. She is tall enough to go on Mission: Space.

Have you ever taken a 5 yr old on this ride? Is it too much?

We did it on my DS's 4th birthday trip, but did the mild side. He's very into rockets, spaceships, and such. He loved it alot! But, he's pretty fearless, unless it involves an automatic carwash!:rotfl: He wouldn't go near the mock car wash near Test Track!

If she loves pushing buttons (and really, what kid doesn't!) and has a spirit of adventure, I say go for the mild side and enjoy the ride!

No way lol this ride made us so sick.

My DD was 5 when she rode this one first but we've only done the mild side and she really liked it.

DD5 started riding the intense side at 4. She won't ride the mild side since it doesn't spin. She loves to spin.

My 6 yo loved the Green Team (mild). I couldn't do the Orange Team because I wasn't allowed to spin at the time and I wanted company. He LOVED it. My DH and older two DS did the orange and loved that.

OMG!!! Yup my DD was 5 when we went on. Both of us had to lay down on a bench for few minutes afterwards ;-)

It's an awesome ride but the "normal" version is VERY intense G force!

Hubs and I rode the first virsion when the ride came out. When we got off we both said "never again". Right then and there we decided we wouldn't let our boys even try it until they were at least 10 - they were 3/4 at the time. But now they've come out with a mild side so I'm tempted to retry it myself to see if I think the kids (now 5/6) would do ok. I don't think I could get hubs back on it though - mild or not.

We rode it this past April and my boys are 5 and 6. We all rode the mild side. Later, unbeknownst to me, my DH took my boys on the intense side and they loved it. They kept talking about how fast it went. If your child doesn't like tight spaces, you might want to skip it.

To me, it's not the height factor, it's the motion sickness factor...
Even on the mild side, I didn't think that I would make it. If anyone suffers even the smallest amount from motion sickness, I would think twice about taking even the mild version of this ride.

My son is 4 and cannot wait to ride mission space in Sep. He is SO into space right now...

I do not do well on "simulator" type rides and did okay on this one (the intense version) the last time I was at EPCOT (in May).

I am sure my son can handle it...as he loves thrill rides...as long as they are not too dark. He will not go on Haunted Mansion...and isn't a big fan of pirates...hmmm...any tips on those???

This is my DS's favorite ride. He first rode it at 5.25yo - both the green and the orange sides. We went back when he was 6yo and he loved it even more. I won't touch it as I have a hard time with motion sickness, and even my DH had had enough after umpteen go-arounds on Mission Space. But DS still talks about it all the time and can't wait to do it again!

As far as pirates and haunted mansion...I don't have any tips. My daughter was TOTALLY into Dinosaurs so I took her to this "live" dinosaur show that was AWESOME! She was so freaked out at first she wouldn't even open her eyes. It took a little reassuring and letting her sit on my lap and she ended up having a lot of fun. Once she saw other kids enjoying it she loosened up. Maybe if he saw kids getting off the ride smiling and having a good time he would want to go.

Good luck! I think we might try the less intense side of Mission: Space first. We'll see how that goes.
