Missed banking window

Hi everyone - I have 33 points left in UY2012 which expire in December. I have missed the banking window by a few days (July 31st). Can someone give me a run through of my options?
We already have a reservation in Oct 2012 at AKV for a Sun - Sat stay for a Savannah room which have used up the rest of the points for this use year.

If you really want to still bank them, MS will make a once in a lifetime exception and bank them for you.

Or you could try to rent/transfer those 33 points.

Ok maybe I'm confused about my use years.
Dec 2011 UY has 0 points available - used them all for trip in Oct 2012
Dec 2012 UY has 33 points available - those have to be banked by July 2013 possibly?

Thanks - is it possible to use 3 years worth of points? I know I can take a full year and bank to the following year, then in that second year borrow a full year as well?

Yes, if you were to bank one year, and borrow the following year and use the current points you could use 3 years.

You could also use 4 years worth of points in one trip if you wanted to work it that way. If you booked your trip to be just before and just after the start of your UY you could have access to 4 years of points.

You can only do that if your trip spans 2 use years. So for my August use year, if I had a trip that started July 31 or earlier and ran through August 1 or later.

For example:

With an April UY you own 50 points. You book a trip from March 26th to April 3th 2012 for 8 nights in a LV studio at BLT that requires 186 points. Normally you could not do this because with banking and borrowing at most you would only have 150 pts. But by booking it crossing the start of your UY you can use points as follows:

March 26-31st, (132 points): 50 banked 2010 points, 50 current 2011 points and borrow 32 2012 points.

April 1-3rd, (54 points): 18 now current 2012 points and borrow 36 2013 points.

So you would use points from 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 for this single 8 night stay.

Traveling at the end of the UY does have more risk to lose points if you did have to cancel close to the trip so it's not exactly the "safest" way to use your points.
