Minor Ariel's Freakout

Does anyone know how many people fit at each table in Ariel's? We're using round tables but I didn't think to ask how many per table, and I'm trying to work on seating now. Thanks!

The tables that are included at Ariels seat 10 people each. But you can sit less if you'd like. We had two tables that had 8 and 6 because it just worked out that way.

Also, let them know how many will be at each table so they don't set out more place settings than needed. My planner actually thanked me for doing that because it made things easier and I wouldn't have liked the look of empty settings.

How did the tables set for 6 look? Our centerpieces aren't huge, will the table look sort of bare set for 6?

My DF is a little worried that we are going to have too few tables and the room will look weirdly empty (we've had several people back out of coming recently - including 3 groomsmen - don't even get me started). Do you think 35 guests (two of which are children under 3) is too small a group for Ariel's? I really have my heart set on this location but I don't want to just dismiss DF's concern. What do you guys think? We are having a DJ if that makes any difference.

(Although, as our numbers get smaller I kind of wonder if that expense is even worth it! But if we didn't have a DJ, who would announce everything? I really don't want to put a guest in charge of that.)

It's also kind of freaking DF out to spend so much money on such a small group. Suddenly things like the DJ seem kind of extravagant. But, we want everyone to have fun and I think a DJ might add to the atmosphere?

It figures - we bumped up from an Escape to a Wishes because soooo many people "definitely" wanted to come, and now here we are 3 months out and down to 35. Too big for an Escape still, I suppose.

Ha, at this point we need to keep the DJ if only to take up some of the space in the room!!

Sorry for the mini freak out! We were just positive that we'd be solid at 50 people, and 50 seems like such a bigger number than 35! I know this post is sort of all over the place but it's been a stressful week wedding-wise.

The table that was set for 6 wasn't bare. Have you looked at my PJ? I have pics of the room, not a ton but it'll give you an idea of what the room looked like.

We didn't have huge centerpieces either and we only had 35 guests and 4 were under 3 years old. we had 4 tables, one was full (10), the other three were under ten people and looked fine. We only used the upper part for the reception room then the downstairs area was set with highboys tables for the prereception. I'll post the pic ofthe room set up my planner sent me

This helped me picture what things would look like. After the wedding I thought that the room was perfect for our size group. Between the buffet, bar, tables, sweetheart table and cake table the room was much fuller than I thought it would.

My planner told me it could seat 80 but that's using both areas for the reception. I never even noticed the prereception area once we finished cocktail hour.

This I a pic my planner sent me of another wedding with only 5 tables and it convinced me that the room is intimate enough for even my small group.

And about the DJ... We were party people. We love to dance and have fun. We wanted a club atmosphere and the dj created that for us. We had him for 5 hours so $1400 was a huge amount of money but well worth it.

There was only 12 of us on a roman table, and the did not seem to be big, I think its well designed so it always appears intimate no matter how many guests you have

We had Ariels arranged a little differently with a pre reception area to the left (where typically people have the dance floor), our roman table in the main area and the buffet at the back, here are a few photos I have:

Jennifer, thanks so much for posting those -- that helps a lot! I was trying to see if you used the back area, down the stairs at all? Or did you just use the main level of Ariel's?

The back area was set up with highboy tables and the fajita bar for the prereception. Once that was over they left the highboys and the kids had a blast running around in the area, hiding under the tablecloths and coloring on the floor.

Yes, it really was full but there was still room to walk around and mingle while not bumping into everything.
