is one much better than the other? i'm wondering if it would just be more convenient to do minnie's since it's actually in the park. how much time does it actually take to leave DL and get to goofy's?

Both are good. Goofy's has earlier seatings most of the time so you can actually eat there first then go to the park. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the gates of DL down Downtown Disney to the Disneyland Hotel where Goofy's is. You can also take the monorail from Tomrrowland inside the park to Downtown Disney, it will let you out about a 2-3 minute walk to the DLH. Minnie's only serves when the park is actually open. So some days if say the park opens at 9:00, you could do a 7:30 at Goofy's, then go to the park after your breakfast.

Goofy's has a larger selection of food items. I much prefer Goofy's, however other people are the opposite! Opinions vary by the personal experiences in the end.

One thing I do like about both of these meals is that they have a wide variety of characters. I do have to say, the convenience of being inside the park is a winner. In the end, I don't think you can make a wrong choice!

And if you have AAA, make sure you show them, they give a discount at both of these meals for AAA members. Every little bit helps!

Our favorite is Minnies. We eat a light breakfast in our room then race to the Park for rope drop/opening. Then we do the Hydroguy ride strategy and work our way through Fantasyland and a couple of other rides. Then, just as the park is getting more crowded and the lines longer we head to Minnies and have a lovely, leisurely brunch at about 11:00. The Plaza Inn is usually a lot less crowded then and the characters spend a lot of time with you. We sit outside and linger and watch the hustle and bustle in the hub and soak up that sunny, busy, Disney atmosphere. Ahhh . . . . :woohoo:

We usually go for an early breakfast at Goofy's...my husband loves all the desserts they have. And then we get to the park for opening. We have plenty of time with a 7:30-8:00 reservation.

I also like bethy's suggestion for how to do Minnie's...we might have to try that...I have actually never been there for a meal since we don't like taking those first couple of park hours to eat - that's a total waste of time to me.

We've only done Goofy's, but just wanted to throw out a different point of view. You could do it on a day you don't have park tickets. I like that we can get "Disney" without using our park time!

How late do they offer Minnies breakfast?

While the walk to and from Goofys is not that long, dont forget to factor in standing in line to get back in the park when you return. Or waiting for the monorail, if you choose that route. The last time we went to Goofys it was about 2 hours from the time we left the park until the time we returned. That accounts for walking to Goofys, waiting for our table, eating, walking back and waiting in line to get back in. Thats too much time for us!

We are much like Bethy- we have a light, early, breakfast then hit the park. After we have played a couple hours we are ready for a nice big relaxing meal at the plaza. We have had much better character interaction there. I also like that there are people behind the buffet line plating food to reduce the chances that some other guest has touched with their dirty hands before I got to it. Yes, I have issues. LOL!

We much prefer Minnie's over Goofy's. We've had 3 not so great experiences at Goofy's and will not be returning.

-Minnies has a better location
-Less expensive
-Better food

The times I've been there it's always been breakfast food:

Mickey Waffles w/ toppings

Made-to-order omelettes (lines were not long at our later seatings)

cereal/fruit/toast

Other typical hot bkfst foods: sausage, bacon and probably scrambled eggs?

I've never gone for that last option so I'm not sure of the details.

It's all you can eat - you can go back for more as much as you like. Once we eat there we're set till dinner (with snacks in between).

do they serve lunch as a buffet style there at minnie's

At lunch the Plaza (where Minnie's is for breakfast) it changes to a counter service type restaurant. Its a buffeteria, in that you go down the line, pick what you want and they plate it for you (on real plates), then you get your own drink, pay for your meal and pick a table to sit at. You can refill your own drink but the food is not all you can eat. I will add they have indoor and outdoor seating at this restaurant at both the character breakfast and lunch and dinner. Its a very lovely place, Walt Disney's wife Lillian decorated this restaurant.

At lunch and dinner they have salads, fried chicken, pot roast and pasta. All in huge portions!
