Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

And your reasoning for coming to Minnie is exactly what Rick keeps telling me. That it will be early in his treatment & he will still be o.k. So, assuming that he reacts o.k. to his first week of treatment I will most likely be there.
Oh, I was hoping he would encourage that. He's right, it doesn't start out too bad, but everything's cumulative. SOunds liek you two have the right attitudes and he's just as worreid about you getting through this. You will be ok!

Tiff, I am so sad over your news of DH. You and DH will beat it. He is right, take the time you can and do Minnie. I've had some experience with having a DH in distress and yours is wanting/expecting/needing you to continue with things to make you happy. It is difficult, but he needs you to go too. Try if you can.

We are here for you, I am here for you. Please come to de-stress any time. Continue your walking/running/wogging whenever you can get a chance. It will help you.

Praying for all concerned caregivers, family, you and DH as you get to the other side of this.

Tiff - We will be praying very hard for your DH. My DH does use chewing tabacco and they found what looked like pre-cancer in his mouth last year. It turned out fine, but I was teriffied, so I can not even begin to imagine how you feel. Don't forget that you can vent on us anytime and we would love for you to come to MINNIE and surround yourself with people who care.

I've been lurking a little bit while my family is here on vacation.....training is still going well. I went to the Nike outlet yesterday and (finally) got a sweatband because I can't see on my long runs anymore! I also got some running socks for $4 a pair since they were so cheap. Maybe that will help with the blisters.

Tiff, I am very sorry to hear about your DH, but I think (like everyone else) you should still do the race. Race for HIM. Now THAT is motivation. And another thing - my brother-in-law is a survivor of stage 3 colorectal cancer and he is sitting here with us right now enjoying the parks. He went through radiation, chemo, and multiple surgeries and for awhile things weren't looking so good. But he beat it. And so will your DH.

Tiff-- I just want to add my support and prayers for a full recovery for your DH. Even though the road ahead looks rough and uncertain, please know we're all here for you and DH and will do our best to get you through the hard time to the greener pastures at the end. We'll keep you focused on the full recovery :) :thumbsup2

Hope to meet you at the Minnie!:wizard:

I, too, took a second glance at the Minnie map and noticed the short starter mile. I figured it was because the detail of the parking lot was too difficult to get into the map space. If I'm right, I've made it to the Swan/Dolphin area so far! (lst LR of 7 miles ;) )

Happy training!

Good morning team!!!!

Well I am a little concerned just checked All Star Music for the week I am there and it is completely sold out... I called Disney and they couldn't give me any info on any groups going to be there......ugghhhhhh

Yep, it is going to be busy. I couldn't add on to my existing reservation. I had to make another one night separate ressie. Ugh at checking into a new room. But atleast we got one for that night. We had to extend bc of flight changes.

Okay, trying to work out this whole transportation issue.
I am entered into the 5K at DD on Sat, the 5th.
I am staying at AKL booked at AP rates not thru Anthony travel.
I never imagined when I signed up that transportation would not be provided onsite, but here we are, so what do I do now?

We are flying in and using ME so that we don't have to rent a vehicle.

I thought about trying to get a taxi for that morning, but with everyone trying to get a taxi ride, what would the wait and reliability of a cab be???

Anyone here doing the 5K, have a vehicle, and room for 2 adults, staying at the AKL? Just the one way to the race.

I am only running the 15K so I really can't help you out for the 5K. I'm sure someone will be along.

Robert, I am planning to drive to Epcot to catch a bus to the 15K start bright and early Sunday. It would be no problem to pick you guys up at the BW entrance and drive on over to the Epcot parking lot. Just let me know!

The transportation issue.....when we realized that there weren't going to be any busses servicing POR for the race my mom and I opted to scrap the ME and rent a car instead. Between trying to get to the races and to make a 7 am breakfast ressie at Chef Mickey's we figured we'd save ourselves a headache or two and opt for the car. (Maybe not a bad idea since we still have gotten our ME luggage tags and we leave in two weeks....)

We are doing the 5K and if someone is stuck I could give 2 folks a ride. For the 15K I'm catching a ride with Angie at POR so won't be able to help out that morning.

Let me know!

I'll be at AKL, but without a car. I am not yet registered for the 5K, but would love to do it. Maybe we could split a cab. Do we know if WDW buses run fro DTD to resorts after the 5K?

Last year DD and I used a cab with NO problems.

Normal bus routes to and from DD to the resorts start at 8am. Found this out when I was trying to get there for the Bibbidi B Boutique in March. So getting back should not be an issue.

I would love to split a cab. How many can ride in a cab at once? It will be me and my dh. I have never ridden in a cab, only rental cars and buses, so I have no clue how it works. Do you call the night before and schedule a pickup time and place? Just let me know if you are still interested, and I will send you my home email.

Just throwing it out there--DH and I will also have a car, but we'll be at All Star Sports. And we're only doing the 15K--so can't help out for the 5K--sorry!

Got a training run in this morning--4 miles in 35:30!:cool1: Guess I needed that week off! Well, off to grocery shopping!

Kimberly - It's just me for the 5K; DD will stay back. Taxis are never a problem and vary in size from sedan to minivan. We just need to call down ahead of time, sometimes the night before and they'll be waiting. We did it last year from BWI to Minnie 15K start and DH did this from AKL for an early morning MK train tour. PM me your email if you want.

I thought since AKL was the host hotel, that there would be buses running to the Minnie from there????

Oh, and I checked for ressies at most hotels and am showing very limited availability anywhere...

Transportation is provided ONLY to the people that booked AKL through Anthony Travel. I booked an AP rate room. The rate I think for Anthony Travel was $299 per person per night or something like that. I am surprised that they won't atleast offer a bus for an extra small fee.

Sadly, event transport is provided only if booked through Anthony Travel package.

OOOHHH...

I have a question...can you turn a regular room ressie into a package with dining and food even if there are no rooms left available???

I would call and see what they can do, but when I added on tickets and dining to my last trip, then they had to cancel and make another ressie. Maybe another CM knows how to add on without cancelling. Make sure they setup your new package BEFORE cancelling another ressie though.
