Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Hmmmm, $35/pp/day... Depends if you would eat one meal TS every day or not. My mom and I are planning on eating breakfast in our room, sharing a CS meal for lunch, then dinner TS. I'm guessing we might break even, but would probably wind up eating more food than we needed if we were on the dining plan.

I can't respond on the dinning plan here. We used to "eat our way around WDW." Now that things have gotten to a different approach, we don't always use TS each day. I'd say at the $35/day approach and if you don't over-do in eating all that is put in fron of youthat it seems reasonable. I've also heard that you can take those dessert options and I'm not sure if this is the plan, but that you can use them all to take home some things at the end of the trip like the rice crispy Mickeys and such?

Hi to all! It is getting close and I must say that I've had a couple of rough training weeks. I'm working with a physical trainer (PT) the last 6 weeks and she had to ask me if I've been "practicing" any. I guess I've become noticibly absent in that training area. I'm making my best effort this week to carry on with the original plan and moving along well these 1st 2 days. Today I'm getting to the gym and will do what I need as well. So it's looking better for me.

I look forward to our Minnies weekend.

Good for you, Lily! I know how hard it is to carve out the time, but seize it as "you-time" and enjoy the solitude of an outdoor walk or some time on the TM with some good music. Sending you a  and hoping life calms down for you so you can "practice" all you want! ;)

Michelle -- I hope you don't mind me commenting on the dining plan question. I have only done it one time and it was over Minnie weekend last year. I can tell you I ate more than I ever would have without the dining plan and felt like I ordered a lot of food just because it was all included. That being said, it gave us the freedom to try some meal items we might not have otherwise chosen because of the expense. The other consideration is that I think it is only really worthwhile if you dine at at least one nice place each day so that it pays off. Rhonda and I did Chef Mickey's and Wolfgang Puck's and O'Hanas as our sit down restaurants and those choices definitely made the meal plan pay for itself each day. We did NOT use a single one of our snack options and ended up taking mickey krispy treats home to our families.

Just in case anyone is still trying to figure out where to eat and would like to try to schedule ADRs at places where there may be other WISHers, I thought I'd post the list of ADRs where some of the WISHers will be. I am also listing places that I know WISHers will be gathering for various fun outings. BTW, remember that you no longer have to pay to enter Pleasure Island at night; you can wander around without paying and only pay to enter the clubs. I am not sure if they still do the New Years celebration every night at midnight like they used to down near the comedy club.

FRIDAY 6:50 pm –– BOMA (Animal Kingdom Lodge)

FRIDAY NIGHT – PLEASURE ISLAND -- Adventurers’ Club & Comedy club

I probably won't be able to make any of the meets......I have a conference that ends on Saturday afternoon, and after that I am picking up my packet and checking into the hotel and such. BUT, I will be on the look out for lime green everywhere I go! :goodvibes

Erica -- I am so sorry you won't be making it to the WISH meets. No chance of dinner at DTD on Saturday? Jellyrolls Sunday night? :sad1: I guess we'll have to settle for meeting you at the race. You won't be able to miss some of us at the start line Sunday. If the lime green WISH shirts don't wake you up, nothing could! :lmao: I don't remember your expected pace, but I hope you'll hang around at the finish for a WISH team photo!

Hi! :)

I'm new to posting on the boards, but have been lurking off and on for a while now.

I'm doing the Minnie 15K for the second time, and this time my friend will be running it with me. I read an article on MousePlanet (can't post the link but it's from 1/12/07 by Lani Teshima) that says if you raise at least $150 for "the cause", you get a free one-day park pass. I guess the cause is women's heart health? Has anyone heard about this? I haven't been able to find any info on the Disney race site.

Have a great day!

Welcome Jennifer!!:wave2:

Lily, I hope your training gets better for you!

Michelle - I love the dining plan. I don't always eat all the food though - but I think it is a good deal.

Kim - glad your back is feeling better :thumbsup2

I did 4 miles today and shaved off 7 min from my 4 miles on monday  I felt great - like I could have done it again. My pace today was 12:30. I am very happy with that and would love to be able to maintain that for the whole 15k!! Hope everyone's training is going great!

Erica-

I don't think I'm going to make any of the meets either due to my pesky family. LOL

But, I'll be glorious in my shocking green at the race. You'll find me somewhere in the 11-12 minute runners unless of course I get completely overwhelmed with picture taking opportunities, in which case you'll find me hopefully in front of the sweepers!

I am going to call my hotel for late check-out (thanks Cam and others for hte tip!) so I can drag out the finish line experience as long as possible and still get a shower.

Snow in April? I thought it was spring... This cold, messy weather is making running outside difficult. I guess I'll have to attempt the treadmill tonight. Hopefully the bike paths will be clear by the weekend in time for the long run.

BTW, I will be staying at the Beach Club and will not have a car, so if anyone wants to share a cab Sat and/or Sun, let me know.

Hello Everyone!!!!!!

IT'S GETTTING SO CLOSE I CAN'T STAND IT!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I hope everyone's training is going well. Mine is going no where near like I would like it but that's ok, I have a good excuse, trying to finish all my work for my GRADUATION!!

JUST FINISHED MY SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT TODAY, I CAN SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.

I hope those of you that are still running in the snow are going to have a way to prepare yourself for the horrible heat and humidity that we will have for you by May. Of course maybe it will be a welcome change to you guys.

Happy Training Everyone!

Becky - Sorry I never responded to your question. Sometimes I hate Bradenton because it is getting so crowded. But days like Saturday (when we go to the beach) make me love it!!

Thank you so much for posting this. I am looking forward to meeting up with our WISH Team Minnies. For sure stay after the event and say hi as we wait for our team to cross over the finish line.

Today I did my w/o on TM at the gym. I'm back...I hope! Feeling good about things and it seems the IT issue is in the back seat. I make sure to stretch, a lot, after each time I w/o and think it has really helped.

Angie - Woo hoo! You are so close! Thanks fro teh reminder that heat issues will be worse if I don't at least get spring weather to train in . Ugh. ;) I taned today, so at least I might not fry. May try to get a few more indoor runs.
Lily - WTG!!!! Glad you're back!!!!

Jennifer - Welcome. WIsh I could help you, but I'd love you to stick around anyway!

Snow sufferers - This stinks! Let's all run away! I'm sure ANgie would let us stay at her house. :teeth:

I'll know closer to the race if I can do any of the meets on Saturday or Sunday; depends on the friend situation. One of my girlfriends is running with me and may be staying in the hotel the night before, but she isn't sure yet. Also not sure if any family other than DH is coming to the finish line and what they will want to do afterwards.....

Just like Jen said.....pesky family! :rotfl2: j/k

But I will DEFINATELY be saying hellos at the starting (and finishing) lines. Now I have to find something lime green to wear. Besides my superfeet inserts.

Good Morning team!!!!

Thanks for the wishes on my back, seems to be working.

Has anyone started to pack yet??? I haven't which is not like me. Suitcases are out but then they have been for quite a long time. I have a few more things to buy for the trip, DD just decided she needs some new shorts.

Hope you all have a great day

Kim

Can I just say how much I "luv" Southwest?! :dance3:

I just was able to switch me & mom to an earlier, & also non-stop, flight on the way down Thursday for $0 extra! :yay: I am so happy we are not landing at 11:30pm! I just love how you can change your flights without crazy fees with SW.

Tell me about it...I wanted to switch to a day earlier with airtran and the flight was the same price, but they wanted to charge me $180.00 to make the change:eek: :scared1:

Me too! I have a $100 credit towards my ToT trip by rebooking my and DD's SWA flights. Same flights, just at a lower cost:banana:

Glad it worked out for you Kristi! Looking forward to seeing you and all my WISH teammates SOON:woohoo: :woohoo:

Pack? I still have to finish my taxes! :scared:

Carrie, good luck getting your taxes done! This is the first year ever I had to pay someone to do my taxes for me, and ouch, the cost hurt. But it was way too complicated for me to do it on my own, what with moving countries halfway through the year!

If I am lucky I will be packing the weekend before the trip, but more likely than not I will be packing the night before... Looking forward to meeting everyone! Three weeks from now I'll be at MGM, eating at the Sci Fi Diner...yummo!
