Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Morning all! Got a really good training run in last night. Had to rearranged my schedule and do my LR last night. So, I got 8 miles in ave. pace of 8:33. That being said, I did take a break between miles 5 and 6. I did 5 miles on my own, and then waited for our running clinic to start for the other 3.

Oh, and about Jellyrolls, this will be my first kid-free trip since DS was born, so I plan on closing the place down!!:cool1: :rotfl2:

I'll be at Jellyrolls around 8:00 too!!!! I've never been & can't wait :thumbsup2 Just need to find a cute outfit that will go good with my new medal:laughing:

Training is going pretty good. I've been really focused & trying hard not to miss any days.

Can't wait to see everyone in 4 short weeks:yay:

Happy Easter everyone!!!!!!

I am going to go for a walk today, back is still sore in the morning but OK by the afternoon so I am going to walk.....no speed anything just walk and see how it feels.

I wish I could attend the Jelly Rolls meet but DD is only 14......Oh well next time.

Hope you all have a awesome day!!!!
Kim

Hi friends! Just returned from Disney :) This thread is really picking up! Could it be that the Minnie is getting close??

Angie-- Congrats on graduation! Yes, you deserve a special treat for all your hard work.

I wish I felt like getting a cute outfit but after a week of eating I feel like I want to sew my mouth shut for a while first.;) I did run 4 miles yesterday and have a LR scheduled for this Monday. Hope I can stay on it for the Minnie! Has anyone decided what day will be your last day for a LR prior to the Minnie?? (Do you taper for it?) I don't want to plan mine too far out and be dragging at the race.

Happy Easter and have a great weekend!

Oh! The mailman delivered our week's worth of mail yesterday. Guess what I got??!! A certified, genuine, lime-loving-green wish shirt! Thanks so much!! It made my day to get it!:thumbsup2

For those of us who have booked with SWA for the Minnie - there are internet specials open for May. I just saved $100 by rebooking our flights that I'll put towards my Oct ToT flight!

Gotta love a bargain!!

Well, now I know I can make it! I did a long walk today of 9.3 miles! Are there chairs at the end of the race, cuz I'm going to need to sit down (after I stretch)?!? Or will I just be so excited I won't be exhausted?

I made sure today I wore my waist pack, full of what I'll be bringing, which leads me to this question: Do you really think I'll want my camera? Will I remember to use it? Will it just annoy me to have it in my bag? Any insights?

I always love to take pics of race at WDW:) As if you couldn't tell from this years Goofy;) They always make great cheap souviners.

I think you will want to bring a camera! That was one of my biggest regrets from last years Minnie!

YES!!!! Bring your camera...just remember it is in your pack...last year I was so worried about the sweepers, I forgot to take pictures...UGH...I will def be bringing it AND using it this year!!!

Stacey - Wow, congrats on doing 15k today!! That is awesome :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Way to go!!! I've wondered about the camera also. I have a cannon which runs on 4 AA batteries so it is pretty heavy. Should I bring that or buy a disposable for the race? I just bought a fanny pack today and thought I should practice running with it on too.

Vicki - Glad you had a great time!! Lucky you that you get to go back so soon! I am planning my last LR before Minnie to be the saturday before. I plan to increase 1 mile every saturday until then, so I should be at about 8.5 miles that last run.

Angie - what a pace!! I couldn't do that for 1 mile nevermind 8!! Congratulations!! And congrats on graduation too!! My brother lives in Bradenton - actually I know quite a few people there. Is it a really nice place to live?

Kim - hope your back feels better :wizard:

So I just got back from my second long run today. DH was actually able to keep up with me. My left hamstring tightened up on me during mile 1, so I didn't run as much as I have been trying too. But it loosened up after mile 3, thankfully. It was quite frigid outside. So we did 5 miles and we maintained about a 13 min pace. I feel great right now - like I could have gone a couple more.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Becky

That stroller would be great for my dog if he didn't stop to pee on EVERYTHING....
You should train your pup as my DBro did his two. They actually go on the run if they must. When it's time to run he won't stop. He warms them up, then cools them down that is their time. They've been doing this for years and years. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.
Camera, don't leave home without it. Heavy or light batteries and spares. Whatever you are going to use is fine, just train with your "gear" and you'll do ok. I don't think it matters much what you've got, just enjoy the event and pics are always a good way to have fun.

Thanks for the SW info. I know it will be helpful to some and what a great thing to be able to use the leftover $$$ for another WDW event. I WISH I could go. Still working on it.

It IS getting close isn't it!

Happy Easter Minnies!

Using a digital is great as you can take as many pics as you want and only print what you want. Much cheaper and easier way to deal with them. IMHO?

Today's LR went less than smoothly.

I bought "superfeet" inserts yesterday, and trimmed them according to the directions, and replaced my insoles. I had been getting shin splints and these were reccomended by my running guru coworker. When I walked around in them yesterday they felt fine. So this morning, at the 2 mile mark I started feeling a mild burning sensation in my arches.

At 2.5 miles I couldn't tak it any more and I had to walk back home. When I got home my husband was getting into the car to come and look for me because he was worried that I had been gone so long.

My arches are pretty red and I'm pretty sure they're going to blister. Noooooooo! I was so bummed out this morning. I was feeling so strong on my run!

Anyone ever had this experience with insoles before? I don't know if I should have gotten a size smaller.....I wear a 6.5, and the "A" size is up to 6. The "B" size is 6.5 to 8. Maybe the arches are too far forward in them? But I also wore slightly thicker socks today and I don't know if that created more friction? For now I'm just going to go back to my original insoles and just ice my shins as needed. I think I'll take my shoes to work tomorrow and have my coworker look at them.

Happy Easter! Good luck to everyone in their training the next few weeks. We're almost there!

It is always hard to "break" something new in on a LR. When I had my custom orthotics made, I was told to wear them only so many minutes a day and slowly get my body used to them. I think you should try to slowly break them in.

Also, it is bad to change too many things at once(ie socks also) so you can't exactly figure what the issue was.

Good luck:)

Good morning team.

I might start training again tomorrow, back is better today but I am going to rest it one more day.

DH and DS did a 8K yesterday, this was DS first race, his pace was 6:03 and DH was 6:33. This was a very hilly course...so glad I didn't do it ;)

zweihund : Pixie dust for no blisters....I get them quite a bit so I know how bad they can be.....no blisters, no blisters..../:wizard:

Definatley brining a camera!!!! memories for a lifetime

westcliffemom: YIPEEEEEE great for you, we all knew you could do it.

Tinks: Welcome back!!!

Angie: Great pace....keep it up!!!!!

Well nothing else new to report here.....just can't wait to go!!!

I think you're right, Robert.....I read more on the superfeet and it said to wear them just like you said, for a few hours a day up to a week as needed, or until they no longer felt "odd".

I am nursing my blisters AND my ego today :rolleyes1

I have been reading the race posts for a few weeks now and just wanted to jump in and say "hi". I too am in training for the Minnie - now less than 4 weeks away! I made it through a 7 mile run today. Although I wasn't too thrilled about running when it's 38 degrees outside, I will probably wish it was that cold when I am running in hot and sunny Florida!

Cam--put DH and I down for the breakfast at Spoodles--haven't mentioned it too him--He'll just have to deal!:rotfl:
Very cool, Stephanie! I just "filled" two of our empty Spoodles ADR spots with "Stephanie" and "Stephanie's DH, Scott"

woohoo! How exciting! :woohoo: Glad you made it. And you will be so revved to have that medal around your neck that you will not want to sit down! :) I'd definitely recommend bringing your camera. Last year, Rhonda and I both brought ours and took turns taking pix with alternating "characters" so that we didn't waste time taking 2 pix with each one. For the marathon, only I carried a camera, but we ended up not taking any pictures because I was travelling so slowly and we were very concerned about being swept. You will only regret NOT bringing the camera. Even if you don't use it during the race, you will use it for WISH pix afterwards and would definitely regret NOT having it.

Millenium Mickey -- :welcome: I added you and your races to the roster in post 1, but didn't know your first name or where you are staying.

Erica -- I am so sorry your feet hurt. :sad1: I hope they heal very quickly, so you can be :cool1: very soon!

We still have openings at the following WISH mini-gatherings over the weekend:
Saturday 2 pm -- tea at the Grand Floridian (3)
Sunday 6:40 pm -- dinner at Chef Mickey's (1)
Sunday 8:00 pm -- WISHes cruise (departs from the Contemporary boat dock) (1)
Monday 9:40 a.m. -- breakfast at Spoodles (1)

If anyone wants to join any of those "unofficial" ;) mini-WISH gatherings, let me know
