Minne Marathon Team List

Edited because I seem to be a bear of even less brain than usual this am.

Why do I not see the weather staying that cool... although I would LOVE it if it did!!

I feel like I have been seriously put through the ringer lately. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, has worked out over the past few weeks. My birthday is today, my Mom bailed on me for dinner, my babysitter bailed over the weekend so DH and I couldn't go out, DH and I had waited too long to make reservations at a Disney hotel for the race, and decided we couldn't afford to make it to the Minnie this year. I mean I have been in a severe funk... even bailed on ALL of last's weeks runs, cause I just didn't see the point.

Then yesterday DH gets this awesome idea to ask the in-laws and my Mom to split babysitting duties with the boys during Minnie weekend so that he and I can go alone. It actually worked, we have made reservations at Royal Pacific at Universal, and DH is gonna get up and drive me to the race on Sunday morning!! So I am back on!!! YAY!! I can't wait to see everyone there!!

OMG, I am a 15-day forecast junkie like Stacie. PD that it stays this way. RIght now teh forecast is low of 39 and high of 55. Woo hoo!

Is this for Orlando?

I just checked and what I get is a high of 87 and a low of 66 (Which seems more reasonable LOL!)

Oh fine. Burst my biubble! :rotfl2: It's been a rough morning. DIdn't everyone want to know what Detroit would eb like? :rolleyes1

Oh well, I can still dream.......

Dana...This is great! Fantastic!

Hey, maybe a cool front will come through!

Dana - Hope this is teh first na spree of good news fro you! SOunds like you really need the Minnie weekend!

Glad to hear you are back on for the Minnie Dana. That is great.

I wanted to do my 7 miles yesterday first thing in the AM wearing my WISH shirt so I could get a practice LR in wearing it but I didn't end up going outside. I waited till later in the evening and used my TM. Next weekend I have 8 miles planned and I will do at least 4 (if not all) of it outside so I will test my WISH shirt then. I was ok with my time yesterday on the 7 miler (which actually ended up being 7.1 miles) My time was 95 minutes - which equals out to a 13.38 pace.

Ok I just have to vent about a girl at work - when I told her my pace for longer distances was around 12-13 minutes per mile she said "that's slow" Well of course that made me a little upset considering I don't think she runs and not trying to be rude or anything but she has a behind about 5 times as big as mine :rolleyes1 She also told me I typed slow too (which she didn't even really see me type very much at that point)

At least I know my WISH team mates appreciate the effort it takes to get a 12-13 minute pace. :grouphug: I want to wish everyone good luck at Minnie - I can't believe the 15k is only 13 days away :scared1:

I wish we could get another cool front to come through FL, but it would take a :wizard: to accomplish it!!

Dana: Glad you are coming. Enjoy the Minnie weekend.

TnTsParty: What does that girl know anyway. If you need us to teach her a lesson, just let us know.

CarolA: 87degrees sound more like it. Early morning will be nice, but as soon as the sun starts to come up the sweating will begin. (this would be a good place for a sweaty smiley)

EVERYONE planning on doing the 5K and especially the 15K please make sure you have a good sunscreen to bring with you!! Sun is out ALL the time in FL. Make sure your sunscreen has not expired, is like a 15/30 spf, waterproof, sweatproof, wipeproof (something for sports) and so on.
PLEASE also put on your sunscreen before you leave the house or hotel room. Sunscreen works best if you put it on about 30mins prior to being in the sun. It needs to absorb into your skin so it works properly!!!

Detail, details, details...I looked up the sunrise on race day and it said 6:42 so if the race starts at 6:15 1. Is it dark? 2. Won't it feel cooler without the sun shining?

Another question..I don't plan on carrying anything when I run..does anyone else run without fanny packs or things?

Joan - I always carry my own water if it's longe than a 5k. Maybe I could do a 10K w/o, but no more. If tehy run out of water or Powerade, which has happened in some races, what iwll you do if it's hot? I highly recommend taking water or lsome liquid just in case. I also need to Gu, but I know some don't. JMO

Tricia - You're right. We understand. This part of we would also liek to kick her! :scared:

I won't be carrying anything that can't fit in my pockets. I have tried things on and nothing seems right so....

I figure Disney has water stops so I need my sport beans and my room key!

Does anyone know what time the monorail starts to run? Hoping i can get to Epcot via that to watch my sis finish the 15k..

Also, for the 5k, do you think the monorail will be running by 7 am to get us back to our hotels? Not that anyone will be fighting for a seat near stinky me! LOL

I carry a small fanny pack. I put my small digital camera, small pack of tissues, lip balm (with sunscreen), cell phone and a clif shot. I don't carry water. I have never had a problem at Disney with them running out of water. Also, don't forget at the theme parks most restrooms are open and theny have water fountains near them, so in an emergency you can get water there.

About 6:15 start: It will be a bit on the dark side til around 6:40ish when the light will start to show. It will be on the cooler side, the cooler temps hit around 4-5amish. Then of course it will start to get warmer.

Themonorial should start about an hour before the park opens. SO, I think 8 o'clock. Depends on how speewdy your sister is if you will see her finish. ;) GOod luck! :wizard:

So do people think it would be best to park at Epcot and take a bus back to the start at AK for the 15k? I had thought of just going to AK and park but now that I think about it I think it would be better to have our vehicle at the finish line (my dh won't be running but doesn't want to be driving around during the race)

I'm going to park at Epcot then bus over to AK. Think it'll be much nicer to have my car at the finish. Less of a distance to drag myself. :lmao:

my DH will be dropping me off at Epcot (we are staying off property :sad2: )

that way DH and DD4 can go have breakfast, etc and then come back in time to see me finish ...

My spa appt will be cutting it close fro seeing the last runners cross the line. SO, I'm parkign at Epcot so that I can stay as long as possible.

Joan- I'm going to stash my room key/car key in my pocket. Then I'm going to take a regular water bottle (like from the convenience store) and toss if after a few miles. In the other hand I'm going to be holding my CAMERA! Seriously, I love my race pictures, blurry and all.

Sunscreen! Yes! I have burned my arms two weekends in a row like an idiot. I have to do better.:scared1:

Tricia- that girl's a moron! Maybe challenge her to run a few miles with you. Sure, she might be fast for a block or two, but I bet in the long run you'd totally take her!;)

Parking- yes, I'm leaving my car at Epcot and taking the bus to the AK. I like the idea of my car being at the finish.

Got to do something productive!:rolleyes1

There is a thread for Minnie transportation for anyone who needs or can share a ride.
Minnie WISH transportation.
I know there are still people who have space and people who are still looking for a ride.
