Minne Marathon Team List

bunnyfoo I feel your pain on the humidity/heat thing. I, too, only started running in January and I live in Michigan (where fortunately this latest snowstorm may pass us by.
I don't know what it will be like, but having been to WDW in August I can only imagine that it can't get any worse than that.
So looks like I should try running on a steep TM incline in my full cold weather gear with pack--maybe that will help simulate the feel of Florida in May!

Maura

Hey Maura! Did you get hit with the latest snowstorm - It feels like winter will never end! I want all this snow to go away so I can at least start running on pavement.

I've been in September after a hurricane and it was pretty humid. It didn't bother me but then again I was walking around the parks and going in and out of the buildings which had a/c. I like your idea about running on the TM with cold weather gear

bunnyfoo,
Out of curiosity, are the tech shirts fitted or loose fitting? I selected a small size - I was assuming a loose fit. Can we exchange them at the expo if we picked the wrong size?

I thought the shirts were a little on the small side. Don't you know what assume means???!!! :lmao: Someone else will have to answer about exchanging...HTH!! :goodvibes

OK Yous guys!!!

You pulled my ear, twisted my arm, poked me and beat me to a pulp.....so.....

I am now officially signed up to do the MINNIE 15K, put me in coach! :cool1::yay:

I feel I can try to keep up with a 15 min pace requirement (I'm a walker). I did the WDW 1/2 in 3hr 14min and the ING Miami Half in 3hr 12min so that is better than a 15min mile pace.

Now the big thing is a will need to look at room prices. I might be coming up by myself would arrive Friday night(maybe morning, I'll have to check with work this week) and stay till Sunday. Probably look to stay at Pop. Online it seems a bit high for prices, but I guess I'll get what I can unless someone else here knows of a better deal, (I'm a seasonal Pass Holder and AAA member) or a discount or code to use.

Yeah!! I'm in. (Now I just need whatever WISH shirt I can get ahold of.)

No snow for us yesterday. Just a dusting, but I still managed to slip and fall on my backside while walking the dog. Fortunately this was after doing my workout (indoors on the TM).

Tracy I originally got a AAA rate at Pop for $84/94 (It's higher on the weekend.) Then the AP rates came out and I switched to AKL. You may still be able to get some discount. I'd give them a call.

My sister and I are doing the 15K and bringing my daughter (as a surprise! I hope that goes well - I have heard horror stories) and my mum. Girls trip! We are staying at the Animal Kingdom.

I also just completed a neat 15K Minnie Marathon countdown to May first if anyone would like one.
(I need the inspiration, today I have to drive to my grandmothers to use her clubs tread mill - we got 2 feet of snow last night!!!!!)
This is a writable pdf meaning if you open in acrobat, and just click on the days they will check off for you on your desktop... or you can print and do it manually.
Send me your email or PM me and I will send you a copy!

Welcome, Tracy and Alysa!!
Updated! :goodvibes

Hello fellow Minnies,

I just booked a room at All-Star Sports for Friday to Sunday (don't know if I'll be there earlier in the day Friday or later in the evening?) I was able to find a Passholder discount and I got it for 84 a night-that doesn't include the dreaded tax.

I will either be by myself, or my Mom might come along to keep me company. I will have a car and would drive to EPCOT if anyone else needs a ride. Not sure if my mother would be willing to drive us to AK to drop us off, that would mean she would have to get up early.:(

I'm kinda excited...:yay:

-Tracy

Tracey, wanted to tell you...there are quite a few of us who are walkers. You won't be alone!! :dance3:

You guys are so excited about Kevin coming...I'm new here-would one say Kevin is handsome or fun to be around. Oh I'm sorry, I'm married and bring my DH to the race. :rotfl2:

OK, it should be interesting to see where THIS one goes.......... :scared:

Shhhhhhh....DOn't tel him this or he'll get a big yead. One would probably say both. ;) If asked, though, I'll never admit to saying that!:rotfl:

Joan, I agree with Carrie. He's both but don't let him know we think that. :ssst:

joan4mickey Carrie is absolutely correct in her assessment of Kevin. His nickname last year was "Zebra Butt/ZB!"!!!

You know what I really value about my friendship with Carrie, Judy and Anne??

Their absolute, uncompromising, brutal honesty.

:rotfl:

Hello!

Where and when is the WISH meet for the Minnie Weekend?

Thanks,

Teri

Well, if I can get decent airfare, I may be signing up for the Minnie! :teeth: Right now, the fare is around $350....a little too steep for my budget. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. Ha!

Susie - pixiedust: Pixie dust coming your way. I hope the airfare works out for you.

Hello!

Where and when is the WISH meet for the Minnie Weekend?

Thanks,

Teri

Saturday at 4:30 pm has been the traditional time. Venue yet to be decided.

Do we need a poll? Looks like we have options of EOS, POR, SSR.

Mel, glad you feel well enough to post!!
EoS is certainly more convenient for everyone, but I really think we need a bigger space!

POFQ's food court looks similar to Pop Century.

SSR's Artist Palette looks a little small, though. http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Saratoga-Springs/pages/Artists-Palette_02.htm

What about the Bakery at the Boardwalk? I know that's our traditional Monday after Marathon Weekend meeting place, but they do have drinks and sandwiches. There are other kiosks around the area, also. Oh, but there isn't a lot of seating, right?

Come on, folks, chime in! We've only got eight weeks to go!! :goodvibes

DH said if I want to do the Minnie to go for it! He can't get the time off so it'd be just me but hopefully able to hook up with WISHers for some fun. Have free airfare coming so would arrive Friday, out Monday. Thinking about staying at Pop unless I can get a good AP rate somewhere.

Little concerned as I've only done 5Ks to this point (last one this weekend) however my training program has me at 8 miles 3 weeks before this so should be ok, yes? And I'm a walker with about the only running right at the end for that photo finish. :rotfl:

I think I can do this...I want to do this...Ladies, what do you think?

Liz-you can do this...I have only run 3 5K, the last being 2 years ago. The folks on this board encouraged me to take the plunge-heck it's an oppertunity to get to Disney. It should be fun..we will all run, walk or crawl to get to the finish line. No sweep for the Minnie crew!:thumbsup2

Liz, absolutely you can do this! And, there will be lots of walkers so don't worry about that. You should definitely sign up for it!

I could go for the Boardwalk Bakery! I love their pasteries ... fats, carbs and sugar are great pre-race food right? :rotfl:

I have no problem with the PO food court since I'm going to be at POFQ. Not sure how long I can stay since I'll be bringing along my fiance.

When is everyone heading over to the WWOS?
