Mini fridges in studios - turned on or off?

When we checked into our studio last week at VWL, I bought groceries for the mini fridge and put them in the fridge. We went to dinner that night and the next night I opened the fridge. The fridge was turned off. The light was on, but the fridge was turned down to zero. (Most things were spoiled inside.)

Does housekeeping turn the fridges down to zero? I've never had this problem before. I was upset, but mostly at myself for not being sure it was actually ON. I'm guessing housekeeping doesn't mess with it, but it was the prank of some idiot who had the studio before us.

We had a studio at the VWL last weekend, and the refrigerator was on. This was our first stay, and I checked because I hadn't any previous experience. Sorry to hear about your spoiled food.

We were at the BCV a couple of weeks ago, and my daughter thought the fridge in their studio was broken at first. That's before she discovered that it, like yours, was turned way down or off. I don't know who the culprit was in her case.

We've had experience both ways -- sometimes the fridge is on and sometimes not.

Last October we went to Vero and our inn room refrigerator was off. I didn't notice until we had stocked it, gone out, and come back. And that wasn't the first time (not just at VB).

So -- I'm hoping to remember to check from now on, instead of assuming everything is on.

Happy Holidays!

Ours was also turned off at BWV and our food was spoiled. I now check every time. Sorry it happened to you too.

I've had both on and off. Maybe if the room is unoccuppied for more than a day they turn it off?

The problem I can see with Disney turning it off is that they would then have to deal with mold more frequently than just leaving it on.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that either a previous tenant turned it off because of noise or maybe disney does it when they clean a certain way. In any case no matter where you stay (on property or elsewhere) never assume those little puppies are on. I've found it to be a roll of the dice whether they are or not.

This happened to us once in a BWV 1 bedroom. I noticed it fast enough to turn it up before anything spoiled.

I'm answering my own question here, lol, but now that I think of it, on our BCV trip in May (one bedroom), the fridge was on, but turned down low (but not to zero).

Maybe the housekeepers should leave a note in the room with the magazines, etc. saying that the fridge may need to be turned up.

Studio - was off the one time stayed at one so far
