Just back home from long 2 1/2 week trip to Orlando. First 2 weeks at Marriott Grande Vista in a 3 bedroom and then last 5 days at BWV studio # 3052.

We had a great first 2 weeks vacationing with DH's family. I was very eager to get to BWV but was a bit worried about going from a 3 bedroom to a studio at BWV.

We went to check in at 12:00 pm on 6/12. Guard gave us our first "Welcome Home" of the day...very friendly.

We planned on spending the day at the pool till our room was ready but we were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready. Cm who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and said he got us a very nice room. Room # 3052 is located right above the exercise room with a view of Luna pool....very nice. As soon as we walked in the room, DH & I agreed that we rather be at the BWV studio than at the Grande Vista 3 bedroom anyday. Our family of 5 (DH, Me, DS8, DS6 and DD 7 months) fit fine. This room had a day bed which our DS6 said was his and he slept there everynight with no complaints.

The room was in great shape and we were surprised that all our luggage ( 5 big bags of stuff) fit in the studio so well.

Kids had a wonderful time at the Luna Pool and the Community Hall with the free games.

DH used the exercise room several times and said it was one of the better ones he has been in at a resort.

We ate at Spoodles one night and the food was good. We ate at Boma's on the 12th for our anniversary and loved it so much that we went back again our last night. Even our kids enjoyed Boma's!

Loved the Cinnamon yummy at the Boardwalk Bakery ::yes::

We walked about the Boardwalk several nights but didn't see any of the entertainers..I'm sure the rain had something to do with it.

Only time we had a "problem" was that there was no hot water one morning. I called and they said there were aware and working on it. Everything was fine about 1 hour later.

We also visited SSR and toured the models. Rooms look very nice, especially the 3 bedroom. But we realized that we are more hotel/resort types. We like the valet service/ roomservice / boardwalk action.

We were sad to leave, especially since we won't be returning for 2 years because we are going on the Disney West Coast cruise next year.

We love BWV and WDW!

Glad you had a great time at BWV. We love it too! Thank you for posting!:)

Thanks for the excellent report that included all of the good with the one bad thing that happened.

Hey, wasn't this the first trip on the new points? I remember you passing ROFR and worrying about getting your DVC cards in time.

A Big Welcome Home from one of your Massachusetts based BWV neighbors here ;) . Glad to see it turned out well!

Glad you had such a great time! It's always nice to hear good news.

Thanks for the report. We'll be staying in a studio at BWVs next week and we've requested a daybed unit. Even so, we were worried we would all fit! (Myself, DH, DS (17) and DD (13).) Usually we book a 2 bdrm but we're going on DCL 6/26 so we're "roughing it" for three nights in a studio!

Can someone explain the "daybed unit" vs. a regular studio?? We've stayed at BWV in a 1 bdr and 2 bdr unit. Trying to get 2 visits this coming year with our points, so if DH, DD 5, DD 4, DD 2 and myself can sleep comfortably in a studio, that might solve my problems!!

3AmigosMom: Some of the units come with a daybed some don't. We didn't request a daybed and we tried to tell DS that he would be more comfortable on the pull out with his brother but he really wanted to sleep on the daybed. DS is 48 inches tall and fit. But he doesn't move around a lot when he sleeps and I think that's important.

pumpkinboy: This BWV was actually a trade with Interval. We closed on the new points after we got the trade so I didn't have to use any points :hyper: Ironically, after waiting for 2 years to buy into DVC and finally getting it, we rented out our first year of points because of the West Coast Cruise/Disneyland trip next year. We are planning on banking 2005 and then doing another big trip in 2006...maybe inviting DH's family again to join us...this time all on property at WDW.

One night we treated DH's family to dinner at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge. DH's family was blown away by the decor and feel of the Lodge. Everyone enjoyed dinner, especially all the boys ( 15, 11, 9, 8, 6) with all the antics. Then after dinner we booked the Wishes fireworks cruise which left from the Lodge. Wishes was just beautiful and we could even hear the music from the boat. It was a beautiful night and DH's family has already mentioned several times how this was one of the real highlights of their trip :D I just love sharing the "Magic" !

Also must say that the food at the Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney was great. And you get a discount with your Member card.

Thanks for the report. We love going over to BW for breakfast and read the morning paper outside. I was a little curious what a "mini" studio was at BWV(just kidding) thought it might be an extra small studio maybe for small people:p :p Someday I am going to try BWV or the Yacht Club just to see what it is like to be near the action. Right now we have stayed at OKW for the last 9 years.

Glad you had a great trip and thanks for the positive report.

Once again, BWV proves that it's quality, not size, that counts. :D

Thanks so much for the report. We're anxiously awaiting our first trip 'home' this August. We'll be in a studio also. Hope to get a daybed unit but if not that's okay too. Only 3 of us traveling. Can't wait to stay at BWV!!!

It was great reading your report. Thank you for posting it.

We've always had good experiences at the BWVs. Of course, we've always had good experiences at all the DVC resorts!!!!;)

We are doing the same thing in Nov. Going from a 3 BR at Marriotts Grande Vista to a studio at BWV.

The fact that we are on Disney property will make up for the lack of space!!!!!
