Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

CanadianWDWfan, was it you that wanted to know about promos? If so, then Mickey watch & duffle available at resorts and watch and backpack at the parks. I got a watch & backpack! I'd post pictures, but don't have enough posts. :confused3

We got back yesterday from Disneyworld. We had a fabulous time! My husband and I got to have our first "alone" vacation since we had our daughter (18 1/2 years ago!). We stayed in POP and loved it as always!

Seeing your Safari pics makes me really want to go back. We had a great Safari trip, even if it had to be "cut short". All the animals were up and about, and that NEVER happens! The baby elephant was also out! We also took a walk to see the gorillas... and the baby was having a great time playing and goofing around. Then we found the tiger trail and got some awesome pics of them. We had never found these places before... thanks so much for showing me they existed from your TR pictures!

We made the fast walk to Toy Story Mania.. and got fast passes for later, plus rode the ride right away. I looked for Ed, but didn't see him :( LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the queue for that ride!

Thanks also for sharing the adorable video. Once again... made me miss Disney and all we had just done. I think I may have even shed a tear.

Thanks again for your wonderful TRs. You give us lots of tips, places that we must see, and gifts that we have to buy! Thank you so very much!

Hi MeMom! I don't know if heard about Lou Mongello's latest WDW Radio contest. It's "Our Classrooms Went Disney!" (link here) I think your classroom would be a great entry! You know all of your DIS friends would vote for you! If you win, you can get some goodies for your classroom!

I'm waiting for Harper to get here to watch the video with me!

How did she like it? Bella was entranced, and Brooklynn cracked up several times.

Oh Killimanjaro Safaris is the best in the morning! Definitely a smart move on doing that first thing at AK And are those flamingos... in the water... what in the world?

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

We have had some really good safaris early in the morning, and when it is not yet crowded, the drivers really do stop sometimes - not just slow down. :thumbsup2

Don't know what those mingos were thinking!

Oh, Memom, I love the video, it's just precious, the whole family is super cute!!! Thanks for sharing!!

I was glad to share. As soon as I saw it, I knew of so many other people who would love it, too!

I would much rather be on a safari than dealing with our weather right about now. We are in and out of tornado warnings so I am glued to the TV.

Hope you guys are fairing well with all your rain.

It has rained here today and has looked very fallish. No storms as of now. Stay safe!

funny that you put up the safari pictures today! DH and I took caleb to the Toledo Zoo today and we went on their "africian" train ride! It was a bunch of african animals through a fence! DH and I both mentioned that Disney's theming is MUCH better! Course Disney probably had a better budget than Toledo Zoo though! It didn;t matter, Caleb loved riding the Choo Choo! He cried so hard when we had to get off the ride!

We love zoos, too. Nothing can compare to AK, but they are still fun. I would love to go to the San Diego Zoo someday.

Awww that baby hanging on was so cute. Thanks for pointing it out because I would have never noticed it. I love giraffes. They are so pretty. Creighton loves to feed them at the Zoo in Miami.

We didn't get to go on the Safari last time we were at AK but it is a must do for us in Oct. I see all the "mingos in the watah".

Wasn't the baby mandrill sweet? I wish there was a place we could watch them for longer.

We are "safari first" people too. And "then boot it to EE immediately after" people! You saw tons of animals on your ride! I almost never see any. The giraffes and elephants are always far far away and I haven't seen a lion or cheetah since December 2008! I love giraffes!:goodvibes Great close ups!

The picture of the girls in the mist nearly made me spit out my lemonade! Gorrillas In The Mist is one of my mum's favourite movies so I've see it a zillion times! Too funny!

I would have been happy to send you my grape pop tarts if I had known! I will think of you when I see them now!:thumbsup2

Everyone stay safe out there in the nasty weather:hug: No rain today up here, just chilly! Fall is in the air definitely! But it makes sense...our kids go back to school tomorrow!

It looked very much like fall here, too. It was a nice change from the stifling heat.

You've got to get to a good safari. ::yes:: It's very exciting to have these animals walk right beside your jeep.

Hey, it's the 'mingos!!

Great giraffe pictures, they always look so elegant I think.

Giraffes are so interesting to watch, and to see them up close is cool. They have some crazy long tongues!

It's always hard to come back into the world. We are so happy we made your trip better in some way. That's what the DISboards are about. :goodvibes

Too bad you didn't see Ed. He only works on weekends. Someone did recognize him in the past few days, though.

Hi MeMom! I don't know if heard about Lou Mongello's latest WDW Radio contest. It's "Our Classrooms Went Disney!" (link here) I think your classroom would be a great entry! You know all of your DIS friends would vote for you! If you win, you can get some goodies for your classroom!

I watch Lou every week, and I did know about it. I was debating on entering, because I know Anita's room and many others are so much better. Then I started thinking about how much my students would love some new Disney books, and I went ahead and took my pictures. The problem is, you can only send three, so I couldn't get everything in. I still was reluctant, but when I read your post, where you had just come out of nowhere to tell me about it, I took that as a sign. I went ahead and sent my pictures in. I hope I did it right. You can let me know if mine shows up. If it does, I might 'beg' for a few votes. Thanks for taking the initiative to remind me of it. That was very kind of you.

These are the pictures I submitted. I had to leave the beach scene off, but I described it.

I hate to disagree with you but I think that you got some awesome pictures of the safari! Much better than I ever have taken. Jackie should be happy with a few!

Good luck on the contest! You have my vote!:goodvibes

Please let us know when and where we can go to vote. Your classroom is awesome.

Great classroom pics!!:thumbsup2

Thanks. I just wish I could have gotten the back wall in, too. I probably didn't even send the pictures right, though. I was trying to figure out how to do it on e-mail, and it isn't like it is here.

Jill's side is closer to the animals, so hers should be more unobstructed. Her getting the time to get hers on here is the issue. I probably have video, too. I'll get her to check that.

Did you enter? I can vote for you, too. Your room has way more detail, and your boat is awesome!

Please let us know when and where we can go to vote. Your classroom is awesome.

I am putting the link up again, so you can see the details for yourself. I'll probably forget all about it now, so you guys can keep me informed of what is going on with it.

http://www.wdwradio.com/2011/08/our-childrens-room-went-disney-winner-announced-and-new-contest/

I don't see on there anything about voting for the contest, but you guys may know right where to go. I would love to see the other classrooms, too, so let me know if you see them.

This big guy was snoozing away.

Are they ever doing anything other than this?

Cute or not?

DisneySummer20112ndset245.jpg

NOT! :rotfl:

Children in the mist.

DisneySummer20112ndset251.jpg

:lmao: I love that!

Loved the safari ride this morning. I needed that bit of joy to start my day. We've got tornado warnings popping up right and left here again today. :sad2:

You got some good safari photo's. We have never seen that many animals on our safari's. Hopefully we will next time. I'm sure i read somewhere that one of the big rocks the lion lays on has an air conditioning vent in it. How true that is i don't know. The lady giving out the pins looks a very happy CM.Nothing worse than a grumpy CM.I like the smiley variety much better:goodvibes.

Being a Leslie myself, I have seen it spelled MANY different ways but never that way! Wow! That is kinda cool.

Great safari pictures!

I think you have a great chance of winning and even if you don't then you can inspire other teachers to Disney up their classrooms! :thumbsup2

You got some really great animal shots especially of the giraffes. Love the "Children of the Mists".

Good luck on the contest. If someone figures out how we can vote let us know.

Loved  your early morning safari pics! Although the 'Children of the Mist' pic gets my vote! :thumbsup2

I definitely think your classroom has a great chance of winning Lou's contest! As soon as someone figures out when we can vote, please let us know!! I just love your Nemo room! :cheer2:

I sent my 6th grader off to her first day of school today :teacher: and she was so incredibly excited!! My 2nd and 4th graders have until Sept. 12th until they start (due to that mold issue) and they are more than happy to get another 6 days to their summer vacation! :upsidedow

I'm so glad that you did! It doesn't hurt giving it a shot. I saw it and knew that my 2 8x11 Disney signs above my board (I teach middle school) just wouldn't cut it because of wonderful classrooms like yours! I look forward to seeing your classroom each year, and it motivates me to add more Disney to mine. I add mine in lessons and such. For example, this year for 6th grade vocabulary, I think I'm going to Disney-fy them once a month by choosing words from Disney songs (we use a vocabulary workbook and/or I take the words from the novel we're currently reading). I already went through Prince Ali yesterday and came up with this list so far: genuflect, coterie, hordes, menagerie, physique, gawk, grovel, alluring, asunder, amorous, and warble. I'm very excited to have an excuse to play some Disney music in my classroom!

I actually bumped into Lou Mongello and Jim Korkis at DHS during my 2010 trip (I'm still working on that trip report, so I just got up to that day of my vacation) and had a long talk with them. Jim Korkis was telling me about how they used to sell an educational package to bring Disney into the classroom, but they don't anymore. He said I could probably find it on eBay, but I never looked for it. I just think it's great that you can use your own creativity to bring Disney in your classroom! I might borrow your Mr. Ray idea though for a new sign! I hope you don't mind!

Have a blessed day and a wonderful school year!

Yes! It was me! :thanks:

I'm a sucker for those promos...:rotfl:

Oh, a watch sounds great! The backpack may come home too. Not sure I really "need" anything but I may be persuaded.

I saw a cute Halloween tee on Ebay that I "need" to track down though. :lmao:

I'll see in 13 sleeps!!! :woohoo: Almost single digits!

MeMom I loved all the animals on the safari!
That is one of my favorite rides.

There's something about baby animals that makes me say "aaahhhh". :lovestruc

Children in the mist...made me laugh out loud! :rotfl2:

Glad I could give BrooklynnsMommy a laugh at the PopTarts pic. Sometimes I get so excitted about the littlest things in life. :goodvibes

Lexi got on the bus this morning...another school year is upon us! She was so cute checking and double checking that she had all her stuff in her bag.
All color coordinated and matchy-matchy.
Not one Disney inspired item...sadly. It's all about Monster High.
She even packed her lunch and got up early.
(that will only last til next week...and the excittement will have passed)

I may be a little biased but I think you & Wig'd did fabulous jobs on your classrooms...very Disneyfied....pixie dust that one of you wins!!!

Wow, that update made my morning very happy! Thanks for pointing out the baby mandrill hanging on; I never would have noticed otherwise and it was SO cute!

We are back to school here. Thursday night I start my math class, and today I start the first part of my practicum in early childhood education, which basically means I take the class and intern at a preschool. I am all sorts of nervous but I'm really excited, too. Time is definitely going to start flying between now and our January trip!

Boy, you really got some good pictures on the safari! Cheetahs and lions. I don't think I've ever actually gotten a picture of a lion. Lazy buggers.

It was just a bottle from when we stayed at Coranado last Christmas. That's why my boyfriend doesn't understand why I'm so sad about it. lol.

Pat, it was a turquoise small bottle.

Yes I'm familiar with those mingos in the watah. :lmao:

Children in the mist
- that just cracked me up.:rotfl:

<3myfamily - If you went on a weekend day, my dad said he left early both days. :thumbsup2

MeMom you have a great Disney classroom, I can't wait to be able to decorate a classroom of my own one day. It'll never be as good as yours though.

Wigd, why have I not seen your classroom pics. Did I overlook them on FB?

(I'll be voting for both of you ;))

LL, saw your siggie and just wanted to say congrats on your pregnancy.

xoktenox, I feel the same way. I can't wait to be married w/children and planning our families "first" trip.:goodvibes

Anita is right, I love those giraffe pics!!

"Children in the Mist"

I thought of you when I was posting the giraffes. :goodvibes

Loved the safari ride this morning. I needed that bit of joy to start my day. We've got tornado warnings popping up right and left here again today.

It has rained here all day, but no storms, thank heavens. I hope all stays well with you guys.

We have had the good fortune of seeing lions up several times. :thumbsup2

I would be a smiling CM if I worked in Animal Kingdom. I really would. ::yes::

Being a Leslie myself, I have seen it spelled MANY different ways but never that way! Wow! That is kinda cool.

Great safari pictures!

I think you have a great chance of winning and even if you don't then you can inspire other teachers to Disney up their classrooms!

I doubt very seriously I will win, but for the chance to get a box of books, I figured I would give it a whirl. I am anxious to see all of the cool Disney classrooms!

You got some really great animal shots especially of the giraffes. Love the "Children of the Mists".

Good luck on the contest. If someone figures out how we can vote let us know.

Someone will have to tell me, I'm sure. I will forget about it when the time comes. I think it'll be a couple of weeks yet, but someone who checks Lou's site often can keep us informed.

Have a blessed day and a wonderful school year!

I'm hoping maybe one day we'll be down there on a Wed. night when Lou is doign the show from on property. We can go by there, wave at the box people, and say thanks for the entertainment he provides.

You can surely use Mr. Ray. He is the perfect Disney character for a classroom. :teacher:

Don't think you are the only one that sneaks that Disney touch in. One of my alphabetical order lists last year had magic, music, Mickey, mountain, and a few other 'm' words with a Disney theme. ;) I knew it, but I doubt the kids did, except for Mickey.

You are absolutely almost ready to go! :dance3:

We almost always head to the safari first. It would be unusual for us not to.

I don't need any Disney promo, but there are ones I really like. :)
I like the throws, and I love the rolling bag Jill bought me, of course. She's so thoughtful.
