I loved that Living with the Land photos were my first pictures to see back on the internet! We love that ride.
We are back home tonight with everything back to working. Lost internet Saturday shortly after I posted here. Then lost power an hour or so later. Thank heavens for the generator. While the storm was not as bad as it had the potential to be, there is still widespread damage here in my area and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Hatteras Island is completely isolated except by ferry as the road is washed out in 4 places. Several restaurants and businesses as well as homes down there are destroyed. There are still hundreds of thousands of people here without power and trees down everywhere. The saddest story was an 11 year old boy was killed in his bed when a tree fell on his apartment building.
School was canceled today but we have to go tomorrow although power is not restored to all the buildings. They have to report to other buildings. Seems like a waste of a day for them since they can't work in their rooms.
The footage coming out of the northeast is just heart wrenching. I am glad to see that everyone here is safe.
Now there's another tropical system out there brewing...I do hope it stays away!
I hope you are spared of another tropical storm. We did hear about the boy being killed from the falling tree. It's so shocking when something like that happens. Like I said, we have seen the destruction from tornadoes and from flooding, so we know what you are going through.
There has been some sad news shared on here since the last time I checked in.
I will say some prayers for Jackie and for sweet little Crew's family.
I'm very heartbroken to hear she lost her Mother.
My Aunt passed away last week.
She will be missed...a truely sweet lady who always gave of herself.

...to Marc for a sucessful surgery. I pray it goes a planned.
I enjoyed the girls POP swimming pics! Love the smiles!
I can't decide what 2011 merchandise will be going into my shopping bag.
Great pics of the Garden Grill...it looks like so much fun.
We will be trying it in a months time.
Sorry you didn't get wowed by the food.
I'm very happy our meal is on Disney...just in case.
I have to pick our 4 meals for the March trip soon.
Looks like it may be hard to narrow it down. Of course 'Ohana is a must do.
sunnystace ..we didn't get anything more than some strong winds and a gorgeous sunset yesterday.
I tried to take a pic of the beautiful colors in the sky but it didn't turn out.
Our trips are getting closer, my friend...can't wait to meet you.
I am sorry to hear about your aunt. I know you will treasure sweet memories of time spent with her.
I am beginning to formulate a list in my mind for October trip souvenirs. I know I will be bringing Bella back some goodies. She is so into Dizhy Wuhld right now that we are afraid to tell her we are going.

We will be keeping this trip a secret and letting her find out about it later. She loves to look at
youtube Disney videos. She would not understand why she couldn't go ride her hoesies.
I'm sure if our Garden Grill meal had been free, I would have liked it a little more!
Love that it's not just a hot pepper, it's an "extremely hot pepper".
I do love Living with the Land. I've always loved the fact that the food that's grown is used in the restaurants in Epcot.
Yep, and that's one reason we wanted to eat at Garden Grill. I read that they use a lot of it, so maybe that is true. There was no Garden Grill pin, so I got a Living with the Land one instead.
Lana, sorry to hear about your Aunt....
This just has been a sorrowful time for us all around here.
Thanks for your kind words and prayers for Marc. Everyone has been so awesome!
It will be great to meet you NYE on the Poly Beach!!!
We're gonna have a party, for sure!
Added to the bad things that have happened, one of our teachers from last year (she got smart and quit this year) lost her cousin to a motorcycle accident yesterday. He was in his early 20's.
Oh I love Living With The Land, such an underrated ride. It is just so relaxing and great to actually learn something while in Disney, school isn't lost there
That's the best kind of education!
Hi there MeMom! I just got caught up the past 15 pages, and I know I have more still, but I wanted to hop over to say Hello, and how much I appreciate how you reach out to everyone when there are good times among friends and tough times. I like that about DISTown, too Already sent my sympathies and best wishes to Jackie, Anita, and Marc! School starting up really has taken me away from all my DISing, but I am finally getting out from feeling so behind. I have never eaten at the Garden Grill, Matt has never been impressed with the menu, but the setting and the rotating scenery seems really cool! Great photos at POP!, as always! I love my virtual shopping with you! I am so looking forward to seeing all of you in October! SO much fun in store there... I have a few more updates and chit chat to read through, so I will be officially caught up tomorrow!
We are glad to have you back among us.
I think the October trip is now at six weeks from Saturday.
DIStown is the best place to hang out, even if it's not really real.
A rock garden is a fabulous idea MeMom! However, I do have 2 lilac trees that I've managed to keep alive for a few years! I could mesh them in with the rocks!
I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. Sounds like she was a very lovely person.
I'm very excited to meet you too! Not long now!
I am known for putting plastic and silk plants in my flower pots outside.
Lana, so sorry about your aunt And Anita, I hope everything is okay with you and Marc!
MeMom, I am the same way with plants. I love them but I feel so bad buying any just because I cannot keep them alive! My mom won a potted plant from some game they were playing at a meeting at work, and she is trying very, very hard to keep it alive. Have you ever seen the tiny zen gardens? Little box of sand, rocks, and a tiny rake that you can make patterns in the sand with. I had one of those for a long time but I knocked it over. That kind of garden, I can handle, till my klutzy tendencies get in the way.
I might be able to handle a zen garden.

My cat might be tempted to use it for a litter box, though.
I finally am caught up. Phew! I have been so busy with going back to school that I haven't had much time. Plus, I leave on Friday for a short trip to the world and I still haven't packed. Ahh! Anyone want something particular while I'm there? Memom, I hope your having a great school year so far!
We got the good news that the new class is supposed to start on September 6th - if the new portable gets put into place. I am crossing my fingers!
Have a great time on your trip! I am happy for you

....and a bit jealous.
Anita, I have already posted on facebook, but you all are still in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well and is resolved soon! Keep us updated. The doctor in me knows that the tests he is probably going through are routine and precautionary, but I know how it is to be on the other side also. I am sure everything will be great and he will be feeling well soon!
Hope everyone's week gets better. I just dropped my Cooper off for kindergarten. It is the first time he walked in himself and I just wanted to cry. He looked so small. I just hope he found his room! Just kidding, he knows exactly where to go.
I vividly remember Jill and Brandy walking into their little red schoolhouse. They were so sweet and so excited. Your big guy will have such a fun year!
If you haven't seen yet, Marc made it through everything okay.
Thank you Anita, it is tough loosing anyone because it reminds us of just how fast life can be taken away. She was just diagnosed with cancer a couple months ago...it went so fast for her.
I am sooo excitted to meet you on NYE! It will be an awesome night getting to meet with lots of friends.
sunnystace ..thank you, she was a special lady.
I will be anxious to hear all about the POR when I see you. I will need the whole scoop.
Megablocks ..thank you! I'm lucky to be meeting you too in the New Year!
momof2TNboys ...I am sending you a big hug for being a strong Momma and letting him go in by himself.
I cried like a baby the first day of kindergarden for my son. I was much better when my daughter went. Still cried..but not so much.
Looks like we will be meeting on NYE aswell!
Sometimes cancer strikes hard and fast. I don't know that that is always a bad thing. Some people go through years of being sick, and it's so sad that the family has to remember them being in pain for so long.
Thanks Lana!! It is so hard to let them go, but I know he can handle it.
So sorry about your aunt. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers also.
Looks like we will be at WDW at the same time twice possibly. I will be arriving on 9/22. I plan to be at the Poly also for NYE!!
We are so glad you guys get to come!
Trying to catch up over here....
Loved Bella's Minnie bathing suit! My DD used to call it a "bavin' soup".
Sorry if you have already answered this (I've had to skip the chatting to get caught up), but what did you think about GG? Did you like the food? We thought the salad, bread, and butter were awesome. The other food was good too, but not outstanding.
--------------
I'm sorry to hear all the bad news from everyone lately. Those of you with troubles will be in my prayers. I hope Marc is doing well too. I think we all need a big dose of pixie dust!
Better double up on that pixie dust. It has been a rough few days for a lot of people.
We liked Garden Grill, but we did not love it. I am glad we went, though. It was a new one for us.
First time poster! Read your trip reports for years and have enjoyed the DisBoards for a long time. I'm a huge Disney fan and am happily going back for my third trip this year to celebrate my 25th birthday! My sister did the college program in the winter-spring, so that's why we are forunate to have more trips than usual. Thanks for all the good tips over the years and look forward to reading more!
We are always honored when someone joins the DIS and makes their first post on one of our reports. We are glad you felt comfortable enough to join us.
Where did your sister work in the College Program?
I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.
There has sure been a lot of sadness here as of late.
