Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Plus, I leave on Friday for a short trip to the world and I still haven't packed. Ahh! Anyone want something particular while I'm there?

You need to go get packing girl!

While you are there...could you please take note of the current "shopping promo" in the stores.

I'm just curious...hope it's something good!

Last year I got a towel, tote bag and a little luggage set. :thumbsup2

Thanks a bunch! Lana :goodvibes

Thanks Lana!! It is so hard to let them go, but I know he can handle it.
So sorry about your aunt. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers also.
Looks like we will be at WDW at the same time twice possibly. I will be arriving on 9/22. I plan to be at the Poly also for NYE!!

Trying to catch up over here....

Loved Bella's Minnie bathing suit! :cutie: My DD used to call it a "bavin' soup".

Sorry if you have already answered this (I've had to skip the chatting to get caught up), but what did you think about GG? Did you like the food? We thought the salad, bread, and butter were awesome. The other food was good too, but not outstanding.

--------------

I'm sorry to hear all the bad news from everyone lately. Those of you with troubles will be in my prayers. I hope Marc is doing well too. I think we all need a big dose of pixie dust! pixiedust:

First time poster! Read your trip reports for years and have enjoyed the DisBoards for a long time. I'm a huge Disney fan and am happily going back for my third trip this year to celebrate my 25th birthday! My sister did the college program in the winter-spring, so that's why we are forunate to have more trips than usual. Thanks for all the good tips over the years and look forward to reading more! :cutie:

I loved that Living with the Land photos were my first pictures to see back on the internet! We love that ride.

We are back home tonight with everything back to working. Lost internet Saturday shortly after I posted here. Then lost power an hour or so later. Thank heavens for the generator. While the storm was not as bad as it had the potential to be, there is still widespread damage here in my area and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Hatteras Island is completely isolated except by ferry as the road is washed out in 4 places. Several restaurants and businesses as well as homes down there are destroyed. There are still hundreds of thousands of people here without power and trees down everywhere. The saddest story was an 11 year old boy was killed in his bed when a tree fell on his apartment building.

School was canceled today but we have to go tomorrow although power is not restored to all the buildings. They have to report to other buildings. Seems like a waste of a day for them since they can't work in their rooms.

The footage coming out of the northeast is just heart wrenching. I am glad to see that everyone here is safe.

Now there's another tropical system out there brewing...I do hope it stays away!

I hope you are spared of another tropical storm. We did hear about the boy being killed from the falling tree. It's so shocking when something like that happens. Like I said, we have seen the destruction from tornadoes and from flooding, so we know what you are going through.

There has been some sad news shared on here since the last time I checked in.
I will say some prayers for Jackie and for sweet little Crew's family.
I'm very heartbroken to hear she lost her Mother.

My Aunt passed away last week.
She will be missed...a truely sweet lady who always gave of herself.

:goodvibes...to Marc for a sucessful surgery. I pray it goes a planned.

I enjoyed the girls POP swimming pics! Love the smiles!

I can't decide what 2011 merchandise will be going into my shopping bag.

Great pics of the Garden Grill...it looks like so much fun.
We will be trying it in a months time.
Sorry you didn't get wowed by the food.
I'm very happy our meal is on Disney...just in case.

I have to pick our 4 meals for the March trip soon.
Looks like it may be hard to narrow it down. Of course 'Ohana is a must do.

sunnystace ..we didn't get anything more than some strong winds and a gorgeous sunset yesterday.
I tried to take a pic of the beautiful colors in the sky but it didn't turn out.
Our trips are getting closer, my friend...can't wait to meet you.

I am sorry to hear about your aunt. I know you will treasure sweet memories of time spent with her.

I am beginning to formulate a list in my mind for October trip souvenirs. I know I will be bringing Bella back some goodies. She is so into Dizhy Wuhld right now that we are afraid to tell her we are going. We will be keeping this trip a secret and letting her find out about it later. She loves to look at youtube Disney videos. She would not understand why she couldn't go ride her hoesies. :sad2:

I'm sure if our Garden Grill meal had been free, I would have liked it a little more!

Love that it's not just a hot pepper, it's an "extremely hot pepper".

I do love Living with the Land. I've always loved the fact that the food that's grown is used in the restaurants in Epcot.

Yep, and that's one reason we wanted to eat at Garden Grill. I read that they use a lot of it, so maybe that is true. There was no Garden Grill pin, so I got a Living with the Land one instead.

Lana, sorry to hear about your Aunt....
This just has been a sorrowful time for us all around here.

Thanks for your kind words and prayers for Marc. Everyone has been so awesome!

It will be great to meet you NYE on the Poly Beach!!!

We're gonna have a party, for sure! :dance3:

Added to the bad things that have happened, one of our teachers from last year (she got smart and quit this year) lost her cousin to a motorcycle accident yesterday. He was in his early 20's.

Oh I love Living With The Land, such an underrated ride. It is just so relaxing and great to actually learn something while in Disney, school isn't lost there

That's the best kind of education!

Hi there MeMom! I just got caught up the past 15 pages, and I know I have more still, but I wanted to hop over to say Hello, and how much I appreciate how you reach out to everyone when there are good times among friends and tough times. I like that about DISTown, too Already sent my sympathies and best wishes to Jackie, Anita, and Marc! School starting up really has taken me away from all my DISing, but I am finally getting out from feeling so behind. I have never eaten at the Garden Grill, Matt has never been impressed with the menu, but the setting and the rotating scenery seems really cool! Great photos at POP!, as always! I love my virtual shopping with you! I am so looking forward to seeing all of you in October! SO much fun in store there... I have a few more updates and chit chat to read through, so I will be officially caught up tomorrow!

We are glad to have you back among us. :thumbsup2

I think the October trip is now at six weeks from Saturday. :cool1:

DIStown is the best place to hang out, even if it's not really real. :)

A rock garden is a fabulous idea MeMom! However, I do have 2 lilac trees that I've managed to keep alive for a few years! I could mesh them in with the rocks!

I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. Sounds like she was a very lovely person.
I'm very excited to meet you too! Not long now!

I am known for putting plastic and silk plants in my flower pots outside. ;)

Lana, so sorry about your aunt And Anita, I hope everything is okay with you and Marc!

MeMom, I am the same way with plants. I love them but I feel so bad buying any just because I cannot keep them alive! My mom won a potted plant from some game they were playing at a meeting at work, and she is trying very, very hard to keep it alive. Have you ever seen the tiny zen gardens? Little box of sand, rocks, and a tiny rake that you can make patterns in the sand with. I had one of those for a long time but I knocked it over. That kind of garden, I can handle, till my klutzy tendencies get in the way.

I might be able to handle a zen garden. :goodvibes My cat might be tempted to use it for a litter box, though.

I finally am caught up. Phew! I have been so busy with going back to school that I haven't had much time. Plus, I leave on Friday for a short trip to the world and I still haven't packed. Ahh! Anyone want something particular while I'm there? Memom, I hope your having a great school year so far!

We got the good news that the new class is supposed to start on September 6th - if the new portable gets put into place. I am crossing my fingers!

Have a great time on your trip! I am happy for you :woohoo:....and a bit jealous. :upsidedow

Anita, I have already posted on facebook, but you all are still in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well and is resolved soon! Keep us updated. The doctor in me knows that the tests he is probably going through are routine and precautionary, but I know how it is to be on the other side also. I am sure everything will be great and he will be feeling well soon!
Hope everyone's week gets better. I just dropped my Cooper off for kindergarten. It is the first time he walked in himself and I just wanted to cry. He looked so small. I just hope he found his room! Just kidding, he knows exactly where to go.

I vividly remember Jill and Brandy walking into their little red schoolhouse. They were so sweet and so excited. Your big guy will have such a fun year!

If you haven't seen yet, Marc made it through everything okay.

Thank you Anita, it is tough loosing anyone because it reminds us of just how fast life can be taken away. She was just diagnosed with cancer a couple months ago...it went so fast for her.

I am sooo excitted to meet you on NYE! It will be an awesome night getting to meet with lots of friends.

sunnystace ..thank you, she was a special lady.
I will be anxious to hear all about the POR when I see you. I will need the whole scoop.

Megablocks ..thank you! I'm lucky to be meeting you too in the New Year!

momof2TNboys ...I am sending you a big hug for being a strong Momma and letting him go in by himself.
I cried like a baby the first day of kindergarden for my son. I was much better when my daughter went. Still cried..but not so much.
Looks like we will be meeting on NYE aswell!

Sometimes cancer strikes hard and fast. I don't know that that is always a bad thing. Some people go through years of being sick, and it's so sad that the family has to remember them being in pain for so long.

Thanks Lana!! It is so hard to let them go, but I know he can handle it.
So sorry about your aunt. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers also.

Better double up on that pixie dust. It has been a rough few days for a lot of people.

We liked Garden Grill, but we did not love it. I am glad we went, though. It was a new one for us.

We are always honored when someone joins the DIS and makes their first post on one of our reports. We are glad you felt comfortable enough to join us. :goodvibes

Where did your sister work in the College Program?

I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.

There has sure been a lot of sadness here as of late.

Thanks so much!!
It was all a go until he answered yes to a question about tingling in his arms when the anesthesiologist was about to put him under in the OR. Then everything was off until a cardiologist could be called in, which led to more tests....
Anyway, that was Saturday, now here we are at Tuesday evening and the surgery is finally finished! He should be home tomorrow.

I think we need an "official" NYE Poly Party list!!! This is going to be so much fun!

Good to hear Marc is doing well and it is all over now. :goodvibes

Present for the party. Chris is coming too but he may spend the evening at DHS. We will have a blast.

My sister worked on Main Street alternating between Casey's Corner, the Main Street Bakery and the Ice Cream Shop. She was hesitant at first when she learned she was placed in quick service, but came to love it and has made what I believe will be life long friends. She had a hard time adjusting to the "real world" when she came back. She is a campus rep for the program though at her college. Means more trips for my family as well :cheer2:

Thanks Pat! I am excited that we may get to see the back side of Chris if he comes to the Poly!

As long as I don't have to wear a party hat or dance to the Backstreet Boys in front of a webcam, I plan to be there NYE.

I hope the old man who caused so much trouble is home in his own bed tomorrow night. :thumbsup2

I suppose there is a one in a million chance that Drew will come, in which case, if Chris wants a thrill ride buddy at DHS, Drew would rather be doing that than hanging out on the beach with a bunch of DIS nuts. We'll see what happens when December rolls around.

After Living with the Land, we went on Soarin'.
This is still my very favorite ride in any park. ::yes::
I want one in my backyard. I would come home from school every day, start it up, and make 2-3 trips across California before I started my evening routine.

A hardworking CM.

This guy is working here every single time we go!

DisneySummer20112ndset135.jpg

Ready for take-off, little aviator?

DisneySummer20112ndset136.jpg

I like the front row, of course, but I'm not opposed to seeing dangling legs. I think it's kinda neat.

DisneySummer20112ndset137.jpg

We couldn't be this close to Nemo and not go see him, so we did.
We ride Nemo once or twice (or three or four times) a trip. The girls love it.

I wanted to get a good picture of what I would be setting up my classroom like.

DisneySummer20112ndset138.jpg

I didn't get the good picture. :sad2:

Isn't it fun to imagine all the different places these guys went home to?

DisneySummer20112ndset139.jpg

This guy is hanging out on my hallway bulletin board for the 2011-12 school year.

As of today, we have started planting the seed of birthday party ideas for April for Bella. Jill asked her what kind of party she wanted. She said a MeMom party. :rotfl: The she asked her if she wanted an Ariel party or a Nemo party. She said, 'Memo', so we'll see. Either 'Memo' or Ariel-girl we can do and do well.

I had never gotten a picture of the Coral Reef sign, so I took the opportunity to slide around to the side and do that.

I got a couple of items that pooh's mate had requested here. The blonde is the CM that waited on me. She was from somewhere very far away, and she had a little bit of difficulty understanding that I wanted to ship the items to someone other than myself. She was a sweet girl, but she had to have help from another CM to process what I needed done.

DisneySummer20112ndset150.jpg

I can't remember her name, but it was a number, like Sixteen, maybe.

What a fun job to be a campus rep! Very cool!

Thanks Pat! I am excited that we may get to see the back side of Chris if he comes to the Poly!

Chris will think we are all very weird, and he will be correct. ;)

So glad to hear Marc was able to have his surgery. I hope he has a speedy and successful recovery.

Yeah, he needs to get back to speed so he can aggravate all the ladies about overzealous shopping again. :)

The last of MouseGear.

Were we going back to the room now?

If you know where this picture was taken, you will know the answer is no.

Aww, Brooklynn's little face on soarin. It's full of anticipation and excitement. Love that ride. I have got the music as my ringtone on my mobile. Sometimes i leave it ringing for ages ,just so i can hear it!:rotfl: Great shopping pictures. Love the England hat with the cup of tea on. That's the one thing i miss when in Disney- a good strong cuppa! Wow, only 6 weeks until you and Brooklynn take of to the world again. You lucky people:yay:

Bella is a smart girl...I'd want a MeMom party too! ::yes:: So cute she is so into Disney World...that's a proper upbringing, to be sure! :thumbsup2

I have forgotten, does Brooklynn know you're going in Oct or is it a surprise?

From all of your party pics, I know I'd want a MeMom party too! Bella's a smart girl!! :goodvibes

It is kind of fun to think about where the little toys and stuffed animals are going to end up. How very Toy Story of you!

So I'm thinking about a MeMom party...one activity would have to be Hidden MeMom pictures, right? ;) Oh and early morning walks around Pop! This could be QUITE the party. :thumbsup2

Wouldn't being at home be so nice if you had a Soarin' in your backyard? I really like that idea. I'd take Soarin and Philharmagic, thank you very much.

I love those World Showcase ears! So cute. I haven't seen them before.

Thanks so much!!

Oh, I feel your pain. Let's just say that anesthesia is a very cautious area for good reason. I get referrals all the time because anesthesia is afraid to put someone to sleep. The funny thing is that Marc probably just has carpal tunnel or something and had to go through all these tests.:lmao: Better safe than sorry though. I am so glad it is over and he will be home soon!!
I cannot wait to meet everyone on NYE! I so enjoy conversing on a daily basis. Anita, where are you staying?
Bella's idea for a Memom party is precious. She is so adorable. Great pictures today. I am at 22 days now and I get to be at my happy place!!!

Love Bella's idea of a MeMom party! Too cute. :cutie:

Soarin is our all time favorite ride. Just love the smell of oranges as you fly over!

I was so excited that Mater and Lightening McQueen was still up when we were there! I know where you are headed next.......

I love Soarin' also! It's a great ride. I like Nemo, too but we didn't ride it on our last trip. :goodvibes
Mouse Gear is a good store..it's one of the best stores in a park! And those chocolates are very cool..we got a few boxes last trip. :thumbsup2
