Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

How exciting!! I just know you will love being a member!! I can't wait to officially welcome you home!!!
Do you think you could possibly find a cure for this addonitits that plagues us all?:lmao:

BWV is a great choice if you are thinking a F&W trip! That 11 month window will come in very handy and the refurb there is gorgeous!:goodvibes

Thanks!! I am very excited! It is funny, I have already started with addonitis and have not bought yet. I am thinking of initial point purchase and thinking that I will just add on more points as I go.:lmao: We are going to do BWV most likely to be close to Epcot since I plan on buying into GF villas when they are built!! I want to already be a member so I do not have to buy a minimum at GF. I know the point prices will be crazy!!

How I paid for our next Disney trip.
IMG_0465.jpg

DH is a company owner. We are not rich but not poor either. I didn't have to do this to pay for our trip but the change was there so why not. ;)
See you too can go to Disney for just pennies per day.:rotfl:

Love it!! Love that I can see a DisneyShopping.com box in the background too! What did you get? :)

DS has just discovered Vinylmation. I got him a few to trade for our upcoming trip. Our nearest Disney store is 45 minutes away so we buy them online.

Hooray for Brooklynn's first lost tooth! :yay::woohoo:

The tooth fairy leaves $2 here...unless you have a tooth pulled at the dentist...then she leaves $4...extra money for the pain and suffering. :lmao:

DD had TWO teeth pulled last month so the tooth fairy was going broke!

Thanks for all the pics of Fantasmic, MeMom. We've never actually seen the show (and I've been to HS 4 times!!) so it was interesting to get a photographic peek at what I've been missing.

It sure takes all kinds to make the world go round, doesn't it? Imagine telling someone they couldn't sit in the chairs because your kids were "playing" with them. :sad2: People can be so silly sometimes!

Thanks for all the love and support during my emotionally trying time. I know in the end it will all work out and everything will be fine but at the moment I'm just dreading all the work and changes that will be involved.

To add insult to injury, after we found a place to live and paid the first and last month's rent, DH was contacted for a job interview in Kamloops, B.C. They're flying him out there on Thursday for an interview on Friday and then he flies home on Saturday.

If they offer him the job and he decides to take it we'll be driving cross country to our new home!! :scared1: (That's like going from Detroit to Seattle for anyone who's not very familiar with those Canadian cities.) We'll be thousands of miles away from Disney World but we'll won't be too much farther from Disneyland than we currently are from Disney World, so I guess that's something.

Oh I love Fantasmic....it's another one of those amazing shows that gives you chills and goosebumps and then lifts your heart up and fills you with magic! :) I can't wait to see it again! I love it when that boat comes around at the end! Totally worth the line up and the feeling of being stuck in a herd of sheep when you're trying to leave afterwards!

Hi MeMom,

I firmly believe that the resort you stay at does not define your class. We've stayed at a few different resort classes, and you see all kinds. I think that lady would've been rude even if she was at The Grand Floridian. I'm sorry that Jill encountered her but glad she left soon thereafter.

I don't agree with you on your pictures of Fatasmic! Some of those are really great shots, especially the Water Character Pictures! I enjoyed them very much!

Congrats to Brooklynn for her first visit from the Tooth Fairy! I hope the other teeth letting aren't so traumatizing!

Sorry to hear you have not felt well. Is it sinus troubles, a virus, or.....

maybe a new addition? :rolleyes1
Remember, there was some significant coin-throwing going on at Wilderness Lodge a few weeks ago. ;)

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Congrats to Brooklynn for loosing her first tooth!:banana: Maybe she'll loose the next one at Disney.

Thanks for sharing F! with us. My favorite part is the boats too.

I love:lovestruc rolling coins for my Disney trips. I think counting the money I've saved is part of the fun of going to Disney.

:

I do this too!!:thumbsup2 I have a giant coffee can that is decorated with Disney pictures that gets filled up all year! It adds up!

Yes it does!::yes:: DH thought I was crazy when I started rolling all of it until I texted him how much we had. :thumbsup2
It will be interesting to see what you think of Pop. Is it great to stay in nicer places? Yes! Did we feel very special while staying at WL, AKL, and SSR? No doubt. It would be easy to get used to that. They are all so nice. We could stay in those regularly if we chose not to go as often, but we'd rather stay value and go more often. If money was not a factor, admittedly we would stay 'higher' on the ladder, because those places are awesome!

I'm hoping to do a BIG trip next year for DD 3rd birthday. That's why I chose value this time around. I know that trip will not be cheap. Plus I really think DS will enjoy it.

Another coin collector! Yay! :cool1: It all adds up to fun, no matter how small it starts out. :thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

::yes::
And let me add from before, Jill has a coin jar, but her savings has never come up to anything close to what you had there! That was really a big-time haul for you! :dance3:
DH and I get on kicks where we will not spend and coins exept pennies. That is actually a few years worth of change. We already started all over again tho.;)
I booked a stay at POP due to Memom's TR's :cool1: When we went as a family we needed to stay deluxe to the bed size. Sleeping in a double/full vs the king I have at home was hard. I figured it out years ago that we were always grumpy on vacations because we would wake each other up due to the smaller bed. Once I started booking only Queens things got a bit better. :)

I wouls save all my quarters and any rebates I would get. I used to get alot with diapers and formula. All that went into a special savings account and i paid for a few trips that way. That and Frequent flyer miles helped us out once or twice. ::yes::

:
DH and I can wake each other up in our king. I am definitely worried about that especially the night before the 5K. Maybe I'll make him sleep with DS:rolleyes1
:Dawn-LOVED your coins picture! We do the same! We didn't have much this time, but it's something!

.
Something is better than nothing:)
I love:lovestruc rolling coins for my Disney trips. I think counting the money I've saved is part of the fun of going to Disney.
It was exciting but it took forever.:upsidedow

We roll coins here too. We have a big ol' can full of our spare change that we collect all year long. We roll and deposit periodically (into the vacation savings account) but I have to say, we've never saved up quite that much money in spare change. I think three to four hundred dollars is our maximum amount. :thumbsup2

We also have a separate glass jar where we keep our American money. Any time we get an American dime or quarter when out shopping, we separate it out and put it in the Disney jar. This jar is Disney specific whereas the Canadian change jar is just for vacation money in general. We're lucky to get twenty to thirty dollars in American currency for each trip, but it all adds up. We like to use it for highway tolls!

Also when exchange rates are low (although they are always low lately), I exchange $20 (or more if I have it) from Canadian into American and toss that into the jar as well. I usually do this once a month or every paycheck depending on available disposable cash but only when we have a trip actually booked.

And finally, whenever we get back from a Disney trip, our excess USD go into that jar for the next one. At present, I think there's close to $70 in our Disney jar and about $65 of that is MY OWN PERSONAL MONEY that I changed over and tossed in there so I couldn't waste it on unimportant things like pedicures and shoes. :rotfl2:

I DO have $500 saved up so far for the next trip but unfortunately, with DH going to school full time and teaching only part time we've cut our spending money allowances, so it's going to take a long time to save up the rest of what I'd need for the next trip down south.

Oh well! At least I have you guys and your TR's to live off of until then!!

:woohoo::yay::worship:

MeMom, we sure felt special staying deluxe, too. Of course it would be easy to get used to that, but I'm with you: I'd much rather go more often by staying value sometimes. DD, however, is scheming a big splurge trip. She wants us to stay at AKL for a whole week! She looooves animals & is enthralled with the notion of waking up to giraffes right outside our window. Not coincidental, I think, that AKL has some of our favorite restaurants, too. ;) And no way she'll do a split stay to make this dream trip less spendy & thus doable sooner. She'd rather we skip WDW "for a year or two" to save up enough for her perfect trip. The kid knows what she wants! I just hope she's not too disappointed with the surprise week at Pop next month!

Stayhomemom77, good luck on your impending move! :goodvibes If you do end up heading to gorgeous BC, think about using some of your vacay funds to play tourist in your new area. Exploring your new town & vicinity can be great fun, & the familiarity you gain can help you feel at home sooner. Bet you even spot a Hidden Mickey the first week!

Just thought I would pop in and say a little farewell - not sure how much DISing I'll get to do when we're away but hopefully some as our villa has free internet / wifi.

I shall really miss your updates and hope I have tonnes and tonnes to catch up on when I am back!

In the meantime I will enjoy my VERY long-awaited 3 WEEKS in Disney with my wonderful husband, fantastic little boy and our new PRINCESS princess: - yes baby number 2 is a little girl!!!!!!!!

Also - if I can return the favour postcard wise, please please please give me a yell on facebook!!!!! Thanks to your postcard Toby knows exactly who were are going on holiday with... no, not Mummy and Daddy but "Mickey Mouse and Minnie and Goofy and Pluto and Donald Duck"!

Much love, Julie xxx

YAY!!! Congratulations on your little princess! Have a great time on your trip. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Awesome Fantasmic pictures!! I love love love that show - Sorcerer Mickey is my favorite Mickey incarnation. :). I am hoping they'll start doing every night through at least February - I'd like to cap off my birthday with Fantasmic!

I hope Brooklyn has another great day at school!!

Today she learned how to spell the word red and read by herself!

Congrats to Brooklynn for loosing her first tooth!:banana: Maybe she'll loose the next one at Disney.

Thanks for sharing F! with us. My favorite part is the boats too.

I think the next one will be lost here in a week or two. Her other bottom tooth is very wiggly! Maybe her top two broken teeth will come out in Disney. I don't remember what she looks like with whole teeth on the top so that will be strange.

I don't remember what she looks like with whole teeth on the top so that will be strange.

They always looks so funny when those big old permanent teeth come in :goodvibes The kids around here all wait until they're at school and try to get them out so they can come up to the clinic and get one of those nifty plastic teeth necklaces we give them. Sometimes they're not near ready to come out and they end up coming up because they hurt so bad from all the wiggling they're doing ;) And when they start bleeding and they're up there in hysterics, like Brooklynn! The red washcloth is an excellent idea!! They do OK till they see the blood :scared1:

So all you Tennessee folks, what do you know about Wilderness in the Smokies? I think it's near Pigeon Forge maybe?! We're having a family reunion there next year and I was wondering if anyone has any opinions about the place.

Great Fantasmic pictures! We didn't stay for it this trip as the weather didn't cooperate that day!

Sorry about that. :sad1:

MeMom your F! are great!!!! All I ever get is a blurry mess. Next time I try F! I will probably bring the monopod I bought so I can keep things a bit steady.

I booked a stay at POP due to Memom's TR's When we went as a family we needed to stay deluxe to the bed size. Sleeping in a double/full vs the king I have at home was hard. I figured it out years ago that we were always grumpy on vacations because we would wake each other up due to the smaller bed. Once I started booking only Queens things got a bit better.

I echo everyone else that value does not mean poor or trash in any way.
I also agree that you may bump into those people in any resort, Value, Moderate or deluxe. Some people trying to do everything and those who may only come once really stress themselves out and are most like working on little sleep in order to "get it all in". Some families are stressed out, some are travelling with family and well sometimes that creates drama, and some just have no business ever leaving the house. I see it at work every day. They leave their brain and manners at home and how they react when they have to communicate with others is eye opening.
It is almost sad when people cannot behave in public.

True, some people get stressed just making the trip. I wish all trips could be magical from beginning to end, but we know sometimes that is not true. I hope that group was able to have a good trip and that they have good memories of their time in Walt Disney World.

I love Fantasmic and I am happy to say we have never stood in a line like that.

We have stood in lines like that often, since we have to go during the busiest times. That's why we have learned to 'cheat' a little and skip school/work sometimes, so we can enjoy less crowded parks. :)

Oh, you really make me want to put Fantasmic in my plans for January. Marc & I have only seen it once but we really did love it. Hmmm. Good thing I have lots of time to re-work my plans while I'm home recovering! Gotta look at the bright side of things.

I meant to say that I was very much a little kid like Brooklynn in school. If I couldn't do something perfectly I didn't want to try at all. I think it's great that she is still involved in different activities like dance and such. I never tried any of that because I was too scared to fail and I still regret it to this day. The one thing I did join was drama in Middle School and some of my best memories from middle school and high school are from being on stage. I didn't have to be myself or be perfect while I was on stage, I could be someone completely different.

I can easily see Brooklynn being in a drama club. ;)

Hope you get to see Fantasmic again - if not on the next trip, there will be others.

How were Brooklynn's first days of school?! I'm sure she had a great time learning new things and meeting some new friends.

I really can't wait to see Fantasmic again so thank you for the pictures! They're much better than I've ever gotten. That is a must-do for our honeymoon, no matter what! haha

How has your weekend been? I see many of the Southern kiddies have started school but we still have another month up here which goes for me, too. When do you start again, MeMom? In exciting news from my neck of the woods, I bought a wedding dress today!!

Congratulations on your dress! You will be a beautiful bride. :goodvibes

I'm already back at school. The kids will come on Thursday for a half day, and all of the rest of the week is an in-service for teachers.

I think your Fantasmic pictures are great! I don't think I have ever gotten a decent pic from that show, but we do love it! I hope we get to see it again this time. I especially love the projections on the water walls! You did great photographing those.

The first time I saw those waterscreens, I thought it was so cool!

I couldn't agree with you more, MeMom!!!

I just had to reply to this quote before responding to your latest update! You are completely right about people -- you will find good apples & bad apples no matter which resort category you stay at!

I think its sooo sad that people actually feel that way & will classify people based upon value/moderate/deluxe

Normally when I'm talking to people & they make a comment similar to that, I just simply remind them that if everyone thought exactly like them & had the same exact tastes in resorts, then EVERYONE would be at THEIR resort & they would be complaining that there were way too many people there!

Usually after I say that, they think for a minute or two -- and then quickly agree with me!

Funny little side story -- I used to work at a bank. This one lady came in every single day. She always wore sweats & no make-up. I often overheard other customers & co-workers talking about her & how she must be poor, etc. Well, she came to my line everyday & guess what? She took out $4,000 a day (I'm not even joking!!!) She would fold it up casually & put it into her pocket & out the door she went!!! It just goes to show that it isn't fair to judge people! It made me sad that my co-workers were judging her -- and why? Because she wasn't all dressed up to do her banking??? Sheesh people!!!

Ok, rant over! Sorry, that always hits a nerve with me. I see every person equally, no matter where I meet them, and always give everyone a chance. And when other people don't, its very frustrating & sad to me.

I really couldn't agree more with both you & Anita!!!

Moving on to your update! Thanks for posting the Fantasmic pictures! I've never seen it, can you believe that??? Unfortunately, its not on the schedule for our September trip either as Luke is terrified of the YouTube videos!

I bet Brooklyn is really enjoying school! Our schools go back right before Labor Day and then get a 4-day break. I've never understood why they don't go back a week earlier or later

Also, sorry it took so long, but I finally posted more garden pics for you on my PTR!

I say a big WOW to somebody getting $4000 a day!!!

You should try to see Fantasmic. The ending is awesome!

I think our DIS friends are definitely GOOD apples! :dance3:

We could have split "The Sampler" I had the chicken and dumplings, ham, green beans, hashbrown casserole and corn. Then there was the plate of biscuits and corn muffins...
Plenty for both of us!

The papers you say? Everything is done but one. I'll either get to it before bed or tomorrow before I go to class. Baylor came in and turned on the Red Sox and the Yankees game and it's really hard to think. Besides I've been listening to "Ganster Rap" and deciphering my gang graffiti photos for one project and pulling clips out of "Gangland" for the other project. Man, this is one crazy class!

That sounds like plenty of food for two. ::yes::

Gangsters, basebal, and then homework.
Yeah, that works. :sad2:

Just wanted to say, just finished the last paper and I'm going to bed!:yay:

Glad you got some sleep. :thumbsup2 This is a busy, busy week!

I just love love love your pictures of Fantasmic!! I saw it again this last trip and just fell in love all over again!!!!

YAY for Brooklynn losing her first tooth!! How very very exciting!!!

Well spent all day in meetings so I'm ready to just relax!! Catching up with your TR was just the way to do it!!!!

I don't save coins, but I'm going to be doing a lot of extra tutoring (Thursdays and every other Saturday) and that all goes to the vacation fund LOL!!!!!

Hope you are having a great week!!! I'm counting down the days until I can finally meet you in person!!! I'm so excited! :cool1:

Hope Brooklynn had a great first day at School!!!!!

Oh my, you know I was wondering about how Bella would take it. We had the same situation with Nerea when Miren started Kindergarten. She was too small to notice when Miren was in preschool, and then got used to spending all day with her the summer before Miren started Kinder. On the first day, we all dropped her off, and when we got back in the car, as I'm closing the door on the van, she just flipped! She started very sentimentally crying for "Mimi!" And saying "no" like not to close the door because we were leaving her behind. It broke my heart...and then I just lost it myself!

:woohoo: for Brooklynn losing her first tooth!! What are you guys doing for her birthday? (Did you already share that and I missed it??)

Thanks for the Fantasmic pics, MeMom! What a nice way to spend a Sunday night! Hope you have a great day back to school tomorrow, and I do hope the secretary kept her word and put together a sweet little group for you this year.

Bella was fine with all the school talk as long as she had no idea about the reality of Brooklynn going to a completely different place. When she saw it, it was a shock, I guess. Jill didn't say Bella had any issues this morning.

Brooklynn is not having much of a party this year - nothing elaborate at all. There has been too much to keep Jill busy at work already, and the timing just isn't good. She hasn't really made new friends at school yet, obviously. Who wants to get a party invitation from a 'stranger' the first week of school. She's going to have some pre-school friends over and just hang out. She wants to have a Tangled theme, but Jill said that will amount to a little bit of nothing, too. Next year, when she has known her school friends for a whole year, she can have a bigger party again.

Much love, Julie xxx

We all hope you have a most magical time! You have waited a long time for this.

Congratulations on your new little girl to come! Have fun looking at boy clothes and girl clothes on your trip!

I haven't seen Fantasmic in years...that is some crowd waiting!!

Yes, but we didn't have to wait long, and the line moved fairly quickly. It was not miserable that night.

That is awful!

Please don't lump me in with a Deluxe snob either! I love the Deluxe resorts, but our current budget is barely Value! I keep looking at the numbers for this coming trip, staying at Pop for 5 nights (the rest is DVC) and taking a deep breath. Disney is not cheap no matter where you stay, even with a discount! I'm thankful to DVC which allows us to take more than 1 trip a year.

I really enjoyed Movies in May. It took a day to get used to, but by the end of the trip, the vibrancy of the resort made me smile. I am VERY much looking forward to Pop this trip, Henry had a BLAST running around there in March. He's most excited about the giant Mr. & Mrs. Potato Heads and the computer pool.

And you are right, you can find yucky people at every level of resort. Common courtesy and kindness don't have a price tag. Hopefully it was just one of those Mommy Meltdown moments for that family and she soon corrected herself.

Dawn-LOVED your coins picture! We do the same! We didn't have much this time, but it's something!

Congratulations to Brooklynn for losing her first tooth!

Wonderful Fantastmic pictures MeMom! We only saw the show once, but I very much remember that awesome character boat. :thumbsup2 Have you heard the rumor of the big Fantasmic refurb? It might be one of the things announced at the D23 event.

We want to try Movies again after the refurb is finished. The one time we stayed there, our room was noticeably in need of freshening up. The icons there are great for photo ops with the kids, though, so I'm sure we'll stay there again soon.

We would never call you a snob, friend! :goodvibes

I am so jealous of the amazing pictures you took of Fantasmic. I was so proud of the few okay pics I got this year and now they don't seem so great. What kind of camera do you have? I am thinking of upgrading soon and maybe looking to take a basic photography class in the fall.

I love the pictures of Brooklynn through the years. She was so tiny. Amazing how quickly they go from being so small to starting Kindergarten.

Mine is a simple point and shoot - Canon SX120IS. I would not know what to do with anything really good.

It's been a quick five years for our big girl. She is enjoying her school days.

Ooops I take that back...I am saving a few coins!! A certain visit to a certain fountain at a certain resort for a very certain reason has to be made next trip :rolleyes1

Finally catching up this morning! Great pictures of Fantasmic. I really want to go back this year. Yay for Brooklynn and the tooth fairy!! That is awfully young!
I just had to comment on he family at Pop too. Unfortunately, I see that behavior often at Dollywood and Splash Country. For some reason, there is a large amount of disrespectful people that vacation here. Not to discourage you from going sometime. The majority of people are fine, but I seem to have more encounters with horrible people cursing in front of my children here than anywhere. It has nothing to do with income either. Like I have said before, I love the GF for the staff, but a lot of people that stay there have a very pretentious attitude. I just ignore them and go on.
Funny story about strange encounters at Disney. I was second in line for Turtle Talk with Crush. There was an elderly couple in front of me. We started to converse a little and the woman said that she hoped to ask Crush a question. She was interested in sea turtles and had an important question to ask. She started complaining how Crush always ignores her and gets the questions from kids instead. I was a little stunned because she was dead serious. I am not sure if she had a little dementia or was just strange. She really thought Crush would know the answers to her sea turtle questions and was mad that pesky kids had priority.
On a different note, it is official!! We are going to buy DVC in October or November. I am starting to look at resale contracts and have almost decided to have BWV as my home resort. We are going to check out SSR and OKW in September though. Can't wait!!!

Hooray for DVC! :woohoo:

That's interesting about the old lady at Crush. Maybe she was a little off. Poor thing.

Awesome Fantasmic pictures!! I love love love that show - Sorcerer Mickey is my favorite Mickey incarnation.. I am hoping they'll start doing every night through at least February - I'd like to cap off my birthday with Fantasmic!

I hope Brooklyn has another great day at school!!

That would be a nice ending to a birthday. :goodvibes

Love it!! Love that I can see a DisneyShopping.com box in the background too! What did you get?

She thinks she can shop and not share? :sad2:

DS has just discovered Vinylmation. I got him a few to trade for our upcoming trip. Our nearest Disney store is 45 minutes away so we buy them online.

45 minutes is a drea compared to three hours for us!

Hooray for Brooklynn's first lost tooth!

The tooth fairy leaves $2 here...unless you have a tooth pulled at the dentist...then she leaves $4...extra money for the pain and suffering.

People can be so silly sometimes!

(That's like going from Detroit to Seattle for anyone who's not very familiar with those Canadian cities.) We'll be thousands of miles away from Disney World but we'll won't be too much farther from Disneyland than we currently are from Disney World, so I guess that's something.

You should youtube Fantasmic sometime just to see the end.

You have a lot going on on the homefront. I hope we can be of help in de-stressing you with our silliness around here.

Oh I love Fantasmic....it's another one of those amazing shows that gives you chills and goosebumps and then lifts your heart up and fills you with magic! I can't wait to see it again! I love it when that boat comes around at the end! Totally worth the line up and the feeling of being stuck in a herd of sheep when you're trying to leave afterwards!

It's worth seeing, but it is some kind of crazy leaving afterward!

Hi MeMom,

I firmly believe that the resort you stay at does not define your class. We've stayed at a few different resort classes, and you see all kinds. I think that lady would've been rude even if she was at The Grand Floridian. I'm sorry that Jill encountered her but glad she left soon thereafter.

Congrats to Brooklynn for her first visit from the Tooth Fairy! I hope the other teeth letting aren't so traumatizing!

We'll probably find out pretty soon about future tooth drama, as the one next to it is loose.

Resort 'status' does not define class. We have incredible DIS friends from all walks of life and all kinds of different Disney 'homes'. :goodvibes

Just thinking out loud. :rotfl:
