Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I am still getting caught up!! Okay, I have to say this warmed my heart today. Since I was not on facebook yet, I had no idea that Bella had started warming up to the characters. This is great news! :dance3: I just love the picture of her and Tink. It is too precious.:cutie:

:yay: Yay, I am glad you are still getting something for the contest! I sure hope it some books. Let us know when you recieve it.

I'm glad you're getting a prize too, Memom! I voted as much as I could - your room was really the best. You also didn't have a youtube video for your students begging for their votes :rolleyes1 Sorry, I will try to be as gracious about the loss as you :goodvibes

Love the new pics - yay for Bella! That is a great idea about giving her an autograph book. I'll have to try that with my baby. Where exactly is the Tink meet and greet in Epcot? I don't think I've ever seen it...

Sooo, in contest news, I received an e-mail from WDW Radio that said since the voting was so close, our class would also receive a prize box. :cool1: It said it would be announced in a blog soon, so I'll let you know if/when I see it. Wigd, you get to keep your awesome book, and Jen, you can decide if you still want to do that group's project or not. I will PM you later tonight.

I am so glad for your students. :goodvibes This restores my faith in that special Disney Pixie Dust. Your students were already blessed with Disney Magic daily thanks to a wonderful teacher with or without the books, but this makes it a little more magical.

MeMom: Yay for your classroom! I was hoping that they would do something for your class. Also, in trip news......Sarah and I will be staying at (you guessed it) POP!!!!:cool1: Who knows we might be neighbors.

Jill: I too think there are times to let it go and times to speak up. Good for you for speaking up.

One of things I like BEST about reading your reports (other than the fantastic pictures) is all the support you give & caring thoughts that you and all your readers have, so, I have a special request... My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in August, her birthday is tomorrow, and then on Tuesday, she has surgery for her breast cancer and then starts her treatment plan. Could you all please keep her in your prayers...give her the strength to get thru it all and that she has full recovery with no more cancer. Thank you all! I love the little Distown family that you have created thru your reports. :lovestruc

I will be praying for your mom.

MeMom, I am so glad that you are still going to get something for your classroom. I had a few of my friends tell me they voted for you and they were so upset that the other class won. I will have to share the good news with them.

YAY! Memom gets a prize too!:yay:

Jill - RIGHT ON! I'm glad you spoke up. Some people always try to get away with something and I hate it when they use their kids to do it. Talk about teaching them a bad lesson!

I am so very happy for you and your kids!! That reaffirms my belief in Disney Magic!:goodvibes

Congrats to Bella for her awesome interaction! Way to go Jill for coming up with a clever idea to entice Miss Bella!:cutie:

I don't blame you Jill. I too almost always let stuff like that go because it just isn't worth it to me. And folks can be crazy nowadays... you never know who might go postal on you! :rotfl: But I do average about one ugly incident per trip! If I can tell that someone just doesn't know any better, then that's one thing. Not everyone is a Disser and there are a lot of people who go to Disney that don't have a clue what's going on or how things are done. But when you run across that person that is just blatantly rude, you have to speak up. On the bright side, I will say that I run into less rude people at Disney than I do in "real life" though, and that's surprising considering the sheer volume of people you encounter there.

I love the character pictures. Bella looks so proud.
I am glad your class is getting some books Memom, without you having to pay for them yourself.

I'm glad that your classroom is getting those books. You deserve and wdwradio knew that the other class absolutely did not deserve to win.

:thumbsup2

Just caught up again. I am so glad you are getting the books! I am now caught up to go again on Thursday. Somehow I am going to make it through the 5k for that mickey ghost medal! The pics of the girls are just adorable!!

Thanks for all the prayers & words of support for my mom! I had asked her what she wanted for her birthday, and she said all she wanted were alot of prayers... so I'm trying to get her as many as possible. I also am sending out prayers to those families that are/were dealing with issues in their lives also. God is good and I will keep on praying!

Memom... I am so glad you are getting a prize box too! Your kids really deserve it! :cool1:

Jill.. thank you for saying something. I am so tempted at times to speak my mind when I see kids/parents acting rudely, but my DD's never want me to make a scene! I sometimes wonder if parents teach their kids any manners at all anymore. :confused3

Since we are in year round school, we are just starting our two week break! :woohoo: We went to the San Diego Zoo today and the animals were all up and moving around. Of course, I thought of you Memom, and wished you could be there to see it all! I'd post pictures, but I still don't think I can yet. We hope to get to go to Disneyland on Wednesday! Their version of Haunted Mansion at Halloween with Jack Skellington is the BEST! Once again... wish I could post pics of that too! Maybe I'll have to just friend you on FB, as that is where I post my pictures.

Have a wonderful week, and once again, thanks for the prayers.

I would like to take the time to comment on this. I will preface this by saying, I go to Disney World a lot. I know it is going to be hot. I know it is going to be crowded. I know I will encounter rude people who will try to take the magic out of others vacations to better their own. I usually just stand aside and let them have their moment knowing that I will be back and there is no point in arguing. This however was not one of those times.

The girls had been playing with the little girl behind us for about 15 minutes when the CM showed up. Two other little girls showed up with their mom, dad, and grandparents. The CM let all 5 girls come to see the new baby bunnies "Radish" and "Clover" and "Bryan" the squirrel. At about 5 minutes until time for Tink to come I called my girls back to the line and away from the meeting area. The mom behind me did the same thing. The other two little girls came back to their mom who at this point has removed herself from the growing line. She told them to go back up there. I was annoyed. We had been waiting in the sun just like her and her children waiting to see Tink. I gave it a minute, but when she called them back to give them their autograph books and then sent them back up to the greeting area I had to say something.
Me: "Are you not going to make them come get in line like everyone else?"

Her: "Well, what are they hurting standing there and waiting?"

Me: "Well they weren't first in line, my girls were."

Her: "Fine. Girls come back here and get in line behind these two little girls in the purple shirts."

Me: "Actually, you should be behind her." and I pointed at the little girl behind us.

Her: "Fine. Come on girls. This is ridiculous."

Normally I just let people do their thing, but it wasn't just us that she was going to be in front of and she knew exactly what she was doing. It was absolutely not ignorance.

Good for you! :thumbsup2

I'll be thinking about your mom. My MIL had colon cancer at the end of last year and just found out on Thursday that she now has it in her liver. I hate cancer. Your mom will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.

I meant to acknowledge you, as well. I am sorry about your mother-in-law. My dad died from cancer - had it in several places. It wasn't pretty. I wish someone could figure out a way to get rid of it for good. Adding you to my prayer list.

That's so great. Like the rest, I felt the other one wasn't very good. But I tried to look on the bright side and think that her kids will get the benefit and that's good. Now yours will too and all your hard work really deserved it and I bet they realized that too.

And I loved the pics of Bella warming up to the characters. I had to be in many pictures the first year with my dgd who was 2 and 1/2.

I was pleasantly surprised to get the e-mail, and my kids were like :jumping1: when I told them at morning meeting yesterday.

Our guidance counselor talked about it all day. She is a recent Disney 'convert' due to her son taking her down about a year and a half ago. She came back in awe of the place and wants to go back so badly. Her son proposed to his girlfriend about a month ago at California Grill, and she was so excited. They are having the wedding in Hawaii and staying at Aulani.

Hooray!!!!! That has restored my faith a little in the contest.
CONGRATS !!! You and your students have made lemonade of the situation and have been rewarded.

Lemonade? That's a good idea! We could have frozen lemonades as our treats. :)

So are they sending you books for your room? I have told Marc so many times that the other class is probably too old for them anyway...
OK, I'll shut up now.

That's what Jill said - the students probably didn't care much about the prizes. It's all good, though. Everybody is getting goodies, and it was a good experience. It was the beginning and end of my contest days, for sure. ;)

HOORAYYY!!!!!! YAY MEMOM!!!! What a great surprise for you!

I had an AMAZING birthday surrounded by my family! I did a bunch of really fun stuff, had an amazing cake, and got some awesome gifts! I am too! The DIS is a place of relaxation for me!

Glad you had a fun day. :goodvibes
And the cool thing is, you get to do it again this time next year.

LOL!!! (not the shut up part!) I was thinking that the kids might be too olld for the books as well!!!

Yay, Memom!! I'm glad they are sending you a prize too!!

The e-mail said it would be 2-3 weeks before we got anything, because they are involved in putting together the 40th Anniversary events for this weekend. I'm going to have my laptop on pretty much all weekend so I can peek in at what is going on.

Yay! I am so glad you won some stuff for your room! I don't think it was because it was close though. I just think they could obviously see that the winner shouldn't have won and it was bothering their conscience!

You guys are too much. Maybe they should have had two contests - one for most decorated classroom and one for incredible teachers. Sounds like she is truly an incredible teacher and has been for a long time. That's really uplifting for other teachers to see.

I don't blame you one bit!! There is no need for rudeness like that! I get so frustrated with people who do this. Like you, I try to just ignore it but there comes a time when you can't ignore things like that all the time! I think some people just don't have common sense sometimes! ugh!!

You go Jill, I can reach my point too! Most of the time I just shake my head and consider myself lucky to have another trip on the horizon, but other times I push back.

I didn't know the whole conversation, as I was standing over on the right side too far away to hear it. I did hear Jill ask the lady if she was not going to have her kids come stand in line like everyone else, but I didn't know the lady purposely sent them up there with books. I thought they were still just kind of wandering around the place.

That's great news MeMom!! :yay:

Yay MeMom! That's wonderful news! :goodvibes

Thanks, girls! My kids were definitely hyped up about it yesterday. :goodvibes

<3myfamily, I will definitely keep your mom and the rest of you in my thoughts, especially Tuesday.

Jill, good for you! I tend to shake my head and let stuff like that roll off me, but I'm glad you talked to her.

MeMom, I am so excited you get the teaching supplies as well! You definitely deserve them and I know your kids will love using the supplies they send.

Hooray for Bella finally going up to the characters! She and Brooklynn look so proud and I love how they are holding hands in all the pictures! Too cute!!!

Holding hands with Brooklynn was the only way she would do it. Tink sort of just grabbed her and pulled her in before she knew what was happening.

I will take a picture of our prizes and show you all, of course. :wizard:

MeMom, hurray for getting a prize box!!! I am glad wdwradio is doing that!

Jill, I think you handled that situation perfectly!

Dont' you think 2nd place really should have been an all expenses paid trip to the 40th Anniversary weekend? ;)

That's great! Grandparents' Day sounds sweet

Good decision, WDW Radio! I'm so happy for you and your students!

From working with the public for the past 8 years, this is unfortunately so typical, not just in WDW. In everyday life, people are less and less courteous of others, even children. You handled the situation very well, Jill!

I look forward to seeing Brooklyn's classroom, and then I get to kidnap her for the day. We're going to Bella's Book Fair, too, and then we'll go to the house and spend the day together. They are leaving for the beach Friday night, so I'll come on home when they leave or spend the night there and get up early Saturday morning and come home.

Good for you, Jill! Things like that irritate me so much at Disney. Everyone pays the same amount of money to be there so why do some people think they should get to cut? Ugh.

MeMom, I was actually thinking about this contest last night as I fell asleep and I am SO HAPPY that they are sending you books too, you really deserve them. I was actually hoping that they would do this since the contest was close.

I was hoping we might be getting something as a 2nd place prize, but I didn't think we'd get a lot, since money is always a factor. I'll show you the goods when we get them. :goodvibes

I'm glad that your class is receiving a surprise as well!!!! :yay::yay:

That's good that the CM's were paying attention in the Tink line. I can imagine that line cutting and other shenanigans happen more often than it should!

I'll take a picture of it all when the box comes. :thumbsup2

I was SO hoping they would double the prizes since you two both got so many votes!! :cool1: Hooray for wonderful prizes...you totally deserve it

You are very kind. I thank you all for the help. :goodvibes

:cool1: I was hoping they would do that. It really was obvious it turned into a popularity contest. I too do think it is great that the other teacher is so well liked, but her room was NOT that Disney. The thought and effort was not there. Your room was well thought out and adorable! Just my little opinion. ;)

I am gladd you like our room. Come visit it sometime. :)

LOL! I was updating on my TR and it posted here! I had both windows open, so I must have confused the DIS!

That's okay. I didn't see it, but Disney pictures and Henry's cute little face - whichever kind of update you were doing - are both welcome here any time! :thumbsup2

Yay! :cool1: Glad to hear they are sending something for your class!!

Yep - pretty cool! :cool1:

I am SO HAPPY you're getting books as well! So cool!!!

Jill, I'm glad you said something. From the other gal's commets, it's obvious she wasn't just oblivious to the line. Some people!!! :(

I really didn't know the woman got snippy with Jill. I knew they were stepping out of line and going right up to the gate, and I knew the girls were up at the greeting area, but I didn't really know the entire story until I read Jill's post. As it turned out, all was well. They got back where they were supposed to be, and Jill didn't have to 'take anybody out'! :rotfl: I'm certainly glad for that. I'd rather not know too much about the inside workings of the Disney jail system. :upsidedow
