Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I'm very upset you lost to that room but I will try to be a big girl about and not stomp my feet and pout. ;)

Way to go Bella! I'm so glad you found a way to get her a bit closer to the characters. I'm thinking on her next trip she will be a Pro! :thumbsup2

I'm going to have to agree with Anita and I'm upset how the contest ended up, but I already ranted to Prince P so I put my soapbox away!! Suffice to say I think I have a plan and I'll PM you about it!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE that Bella proudly met some characters! The look on her face says it all!!!! Congrats to her and I agree there are going to many many more meets in her future and I see many gorgeous pics from your two girls!!!

I am so sad you didn't win, MeMom, but I am going to try and not pitch a fit. :(

Go Bella with the character pics!!! I remember seeing it on Facebook and just being so excited that she finally warmed up to the characters. Those pictures are just precious with Bella's big smile!!!

-I'm really liking the poly pin on the right!
-Love the autograph book pin! So neat!
-Ohmygoodness that little seersucker dress is precious!
-Ooh that dessert looks so yummy!
-I really do need to eat at Ohana! Those potstickers look Delish!
-What a great morning to start the day at Epcot!
-Mickey looks very excited! Almost as excited as I am because today's my 19th Birthday!!!!!
-Awwww! Bella's face is just precious!!!! I love Big sissy and Little sissy!
-Both her and Brooklyn look so proud!
-Awww! That must have been so exciting for you and Jill to see Bella hugging Tink! She's growing up!

Grandpa and the squirrel........

Reminds me of the last day with the two little ones that we hand raised FOR TWO WHOLE WEEKS. Skippyjane ran up Marc's arm and perched on his head when he was getting ready to feed her the bottle! I so wish that one would have ran up Grandpa's arm!

In the end, the Disney animals are still wild, just really used to people feeding them...

I'll PM you about O'Hana. No curses please. It's going to be a spooky enough night as it is!

I'm sorry that you didn't win the contest Memom. I'm sure you have no idea how many people will be quite upset with the winning classroom. I'm not even going to go there.....:headache:

On to much more pleasant stuff....

Brooklynn is such a sweet sister. I love the picture where they are sitting together looking at the squirrel, Brooklynn is looking at Bella and you can just tell that she is filling Bella with all sorts of knowledge like a good big sister!

I'm so bummed you didn't win the classroom contest :sad2: I know you're a very gracious runner-up but you deserved to win. I had Chris vote and when he asked why I told him how you DESERVE to win and you're such a sweet, caring lady who works in a rough school. By the number of votes you received, I can see many people have the same opinion of you as I do! :goodvibes

On a brighter note, I'm so happy to see Bella with the characters! The autograph book idea worked great! She's an old pro now, like her big sister ;)

Do you have a full week of school this week? My kids are off Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashannah (sp?). It'll be nice to have the time away from lesson planning, even if I'm just going to go in for 2 extra days at work. I actually get paid to work at the bank so that's an incentive lol Enjoy your Sunday!!

Well I will join the masses with my disappointment in the contest results. However I am glad I got to see the rooms too. I like that hall pass idea as well!

Moving on...
Those girls are just PRECIOUS!!!
I'm so happy that Bella is getting up close with the characters now and Brooklynn is so sweet to help her and be so patient!

Good thing there was a conscientious CM to guide those uninformed guests on line etiquette!

I really should go update my TR today. I've actually got time!

One of things I like BEST about reading your reports (other than the fantastic pictures) is all the support you give & caring thoughts that you and all your readers have, so, I have a special request... My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in August, her birthday is tomorrow, and then on Tuesday, she has surgery for her breast cancer and then starts her treatment plan. Could you all please keep her in your prayers...give her the strength to get thru it all and that she has full recovery with no more cancer. Thank you all! I love the little Distown family that you have created thru your reports. :lovestruc

I would be glad to! Hoping for a good surgery and easy FULL recovery for your mom! You are right - this DIStown community is really a great group of caring thoughtful people. Prayers and pixie dust are on the way!

Oh no, that contest isn't for me, and honestly it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I spend too much as time and money on my room to put it in a contest to be beat by some McDonald's Happy Meal containers that were laminated just because she was able to muster up more votes. It wasn't about the best decorated room. There were some really cute rooms represented in the contest and since I didn't have a hat in the ring I feel that I can say that many deserved to win as far as the "Going Disney" theme went. Sadly, it was a popularity contest, a room with minimal work won. As hard as we tried we couldn't get our favorite room to win.
I imagined it to be people voting that actually cared about a Disney classroom. I don't think it turned out to be that kind of contest at all.

I totally agree with this! I was disappointed that MeMom's room didn't win, but if she was going to be beat out by someone, I think it should have been someone who actually put a little work into making their classroom Disney. The winner so obviously didn't :sad2:

DisneySummer20112ndset549.jpg

 this picture! Not only because Bella is being such a big girl and walking hand in hand with Tink, but also because Brooklynn is looking back and smiling, so obviouly enjoying herself as well :goodvibes

I did however purchase a level 1-2 collection of Pixar stories that would work beautifully for some of my kids to send from my second grade Nemo room to your second grade Nemo room.
That is IF you don't win. If you DO win, I'm keeping it...

If you haven't figured out, I'm upset about this whole thing...
I know how hard you worked on your room.

I agree too ( and I took out the shut up thing so someone won't think I am asking you to shut up :lmao:)

I see where that contest is going and Oh Well. You worked hard on your room and we all know it.

You had a great EPCOT day. Bella was making strides and having a ball. Brooklynn was being the patient big sister and enjoying the srides Bella was making.

:cloud9::love::cloud9: all around.

I'm so glad Bella finally interacted with the characters! :goodvibes

That squirrel is so cute  The other day my cousin sent me a picture of a baby squirrel climbing up her leg. Apparently there were a few baby squirrels on campus that were alone and scared and one ran up to her. She called a local wildlife place so they could take care of them.

I'll definitely be thinking about your mom  My mom is a breast cancer survivor and over the summer she had endometrial cancer. Everyone here was so supportive and kind :goodvibes

Thinking about your mom and hoping for a successful surgery and a full recovery.

I'll be thinking about your mom. My MIL had colon cancer at the end of last year and just found out on Thursday that she now has it in her liver. I hate cancer. Your mom will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry you didn't win. I considered having my students vote for you, but I just didn't feel right about it. (I know you completely understand.) I am glad you got some great tips! I know that you room brings you much joy; I wish it was recognized for its greatness, though!

The pictures with meet and greet with Tink are wonderful!

It's quite alright. Even I, after seeing what was 'going down' with this, had to put a disclaimer of 'if you like it' to the people I knew. ;) It all turns out well in the end, though, as you will see in a moment.

I'm very upset you lost to that room but I will try to be a big girl about and not stomp my feet and pout.

Handle this the way you are going to want your child to handle things, LL.

I hope Bella is a pro with Christmas characters. :woohoo:

I'm going to have to agree with Anita and I'm upset how the contest ended up, but I already ranted to Prince P so I put my soapbox away!! Suffice to say I think I have a plan and I'll PM you about it!!!

Poor Philip. He is probably very glad this contest is over.

I love Bella's face in all of those. It was such a sweet few moments.

I am so sad you didn't win, MeMom, but I am going to try and not pitch a fit.

I'm glad you have a handle on that anger, CP. :thumbsup2

I don't know that I ever saw which ones were put on FB. I'll have to try to look them up when I have time.

Glad we got the 'Ohana stuff straight. :) We're looking forward to it.

I remember your little friends in the box. We needed to have video of Marc bottle-feeding.

Brooklynn is a sweet sister. I am on the phone with Jill now, and she just put the girls to bed. Bella just came down the hall and asked, "It's okay Issy can sleep in my bed?" Of course, we know who put her up to that. ;)

I'm so bummed you didn't win the classroom contest I know you're a very gracious runner-up but you deserved to win.

I have a short week, but it has nothing to do with the school system. I am taking off Friday to go to Brooklynn's Grandparents' Day program. :lovestruc

Thanks so much for your very kind thoughts. :goodvibes

I will try to get over to that TR very soon. :)

I did enjoy seeing the Mickey items in all the classrooms.

Check out this thread... they are talking about unschooling! I've never even heard of this. Homeschooling, yes but not unschooling. Doesn't sound good to me!
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2805960

I am pro homeschooling in many ways, but the unschooling, I'm not too familiar with it. Sounds like it's pretty much 'do want you want to', so I'm probably not so much for that.

I totally agree with this! I was disappointed that MeMom's room didn't win, but if she was going to be beat out by someone, I think it should have been someone who actually put a little work into making their classroom Disney. The winner so obviously didn't

I will share some contest news with you all in a minute.

I agree too ( and I took out the shut up thing so someone won't think I am asking you to shut up )

I see where that contest is going and Oh Well. You worked hard on your room and we all know it.

You had a great EPCOT day. Bella was making strides and having a ball. Brooklynn was being the patient big sister and enjoying the srides Bella was making.

I am so glad to know you would not tell our beloved Wigd to shut up.

More Epcot coming, but not tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

************************************************

Sooo, in contest news, I received an e-mail from WDW Radio that said since the voting was so close, our class would also receive a prize box. :cool1: It said it would be announced in a blog soon, so I'll let you know if/when I see it. Wigd, you get to keep your awesome book, and Jen, you can decide if you still want to do that group's project or not. I will PM you later tonight.

That's so great. Like the rest, I felt the other one wasn't very good. But I tried to look on the bright side and think that her kids will get the benefit and that's good. Now yours will too and all your hard work really deserved it and I bet they realized that too.:cheer2:
And I loved the pics of Bella warming up to the characters. I had to be in many pictures the first year with my dgd who was 2 and 1/2.

Hooray!!!!! That has restored my faith a little in the contest. :cheer2::cheer2:
CONGRATS !!! You and your students have made lemonade of the situation and have been rewarded.:banana::flower3:

So are they sending you books for your room? I have told Marc so many times that the other class is probably too old for them anyway...
OK, I'll shut up now.
