Has anyone made it into the hot seat? How do they pick the starting player, are they just left over from the previous game? Are the questions similar to the actual show? I am quite the Jeopardy fan, and I loved millionaire when Regis hosted it, so I would love to actually play this game. I am going to WDW in January, so less crowds would mean I have a better shot, right?

I made it to the Hot Seat. They let the audience play along as they ask the questions. Whoever gets the most correct in the fastest time gets to be next. It was alot of fun. My kids thought it was the greatest thing in the world. They called our whole family and told them Dad made it to the hot seat.

It is similar to the original version of the game. After everyone is seated, they ask the entire audience a "fastest finger" question, and the winner gets to take the hot seat. There have always been 200+ people there when I have gone, so you have to figure the odds af making the seat are pretty high. The questions are generally like the TV version, with an occasional Disney flavor. I never made the seat, but I have been in the top 10 pionts list several times. It is definately worth trying.

I have made it into the Hot Seat four times (though haven't been lucky enough to win it all). It's great fun and if you like the tv show, you will enjoy this.

Three times in the hot seat for me, twice up to 125,000, once up to 250,000, no cruise yet though... December I will get back into it and win it all though! (Anybody wanna trade for two sets of Millionaire pins? :))

Everyone in the audience gets to answer the questions & they keep track of who is in the #1 spot while the fastest fingers person is in the hot seat. Periodically they list the top 10 seat #'s. If there is still time after the person who had the first "fastest fingers" misses a question, then they pick whoever is in the #1 spot. That's how I made it. I just kept pushing the buttons really quickly when I knew the answer. I only made it to 64,000. Since I made it, DH hasn't wanted to go back! I think he is afraid of making it himself. I thought it was really cool, though. It was kind of surreal at the same time.

My DH made it this past trip in Sept. The first show we wnt to he was always top 10 and said he would never make it and I begged to go to one more show and he was the 2nd person picked and made it a little past the $1,000 question and lost but he got a hat a lanyard and pins. The make you sign a paper after saying you can't be in the hot seat for 30 days.

My dh has been in the hot seat twice, once to $250,000 and last month up to $125,000. Unfortunately his 30 days isn't up until after our trip this next week!

I have been in the seat once, dismal $8,000 question loss...

My daughter has also been in the hot seat (fastest finger round - our first time there!). She didn't want any help (she was 7 then) and got bounced at the $1,000 question.

My teenaged DS made it to the hot seat by just quickly and randoming pushing the buttons on the advice of his older brother. He got up to the $16,000 question. He is very quiet so the host had to practically drag any info out of him. It was fun and funny!

I love Play It! DH and I always fight (playing, of course) to see who gets in first. He's made it once and I've made it once, but I did better than he did in the big chair. ;)

Sadly, no cruise for either of us yet, I got knocked out on the 125,000 question and DH lost out on the 32,000 question. So, he's got some pins and a cap, and I have some pins, a cap, and a rather nice polo shirt.

There's always next time. :) We're going back for a rematch in January.

During the first year of the attraction, it was possible to have a hold-over from the previous show time come in to complete his or her run to a million points. The grand prize was a trip to NYC to meet Regis.

I've made it to the hot seat and got to the million point question. Ask the audience was no help. Phone a random stranger on Mickey Ave. was no good either. Missed the question. It was such a buzz though!

Some of the missing details from previous posts:
-there is a time limit on answering questions
-you do get 3 lifelines, but one is phone a random stranger on Mickey Ave.
(I have seen people who stationed friends and family by the phone on Mickey Ave.)
-there are pins you earn for every question you answer correctly, but if you miss one, you lose all the pins that you earned back to the last "lock-in" levels --- just like the cash on the real show
-in addition to the pins, there's a hat at 1,000, a polo shirt at 32,000, and a leather jacket and gold medal at 1,000,000

I love this attraction, but don't know if we'll be able to get back there now that we have a little one.

OH! If anyone is interested, here is the million point question I got:
Which actor was originally offered the role of Baron Von Trapp in The Sound of Music?
A-Rex Harrison
B-Maxmillian Schell
C-Richard Harris
D-Peter O'Toole

I'll post the answer later.

How crowded is this show? My husband adores the show and we shall for sure have to do this ...yes and yay!!!! :cheer2:

3 times in the hot seat for me...first time made it to 32,000; second time made it only to 8,000 (got an impossible question about some song called "Mr. Bojangles" which I've never heard lol), and just last week, made it to 64,000.

The first 2 times I made it to the hot seat I was the 2nd person of the show, I got there by answering the questions of the person in the hot seat before me the quickest. When the show is filled, your best bet during the Fastest Finger is just to randomly press 4 letters (I usually do CBAD) and hope to get it right...the top fastest finger is usually under 1 second anyways so there's no time to try and figure out the right answer.

HOWEVER, when I made it to the seat last week, the show was only about 2/3 full, so I decided to try and actually figure out the Fastest Finger question, and that worked for me! I had the top time by something like a tenth of a second. Next time I go, I'll definitely be looking at the crowds to determine my strategy! No matter how crowded the parks, I've found (from my experience anyways) that WWTBAM-PI is at least 2/3 full each show. I wouldn't be surprised if others have been in less crowded shows, tho.

Made the hot seat once in Oct 04. All it takes it one time! I'm legal again for our trip next month so who knows????

My daughter, 11 made the hot seat the day we came off our cruise. She was fastest finger right off the bat. She got the hat and pins.

I've been fortunate enough to make it into the hotseat several times with 2 or 3 of the times being on the fastest finger question. But I've been unfortunate enough to miss the 500,000 point question once :( and the 1 million point question twice :headache: . I've also fallen out on the 16,000 point question :confused3. I have also seen 2 different people win the cruise on the same day. And I can't remember who they were, but I've seen one or 2 posters here on the DIS post that they won the million point cruise.

My biggest tips are:

-Push the button (the correct one :) ) rapidly with your finger or thumb over and over again until it accepts your answer.

-If you are positive that A, B, and C are wrong, start punching D even before they tell you what it is.

-Do NOT wait for the keypad to light up or you will have virtually no chance of getting into the hotseat. Once you know what the answer is, start punching it.

-Act quickly, but really do try on those fastest finger questions. It is possible to get it right by actually knowing it. I have done it 2 or 3 times with questions as simple as "Put these Simpson family members in order of age starting with the youngest". I think there are patterns of ABCD that people tend to randomly choose, and if it is not one of those patterns then someone who actually knows it will get it right. Sometimes not even 10 people out of the 600 get the answer right.

-NEVER walk away. The chance of winning a cruise is well worth losing a few pins over.

-Use the "phone a complete stranger" early. Usually they don't know high level questions anyway, or they just can't hear you clearly enough to be of much help. I was a "phone a stranger" once, and I could just barely hear the person ask me the question because the phone was so bad.

I was there when Hightown, Sharon won the cruise. The whole crowd was excited as she got closer and closer to the final question.
I still remember the final question ...do you Sharon?

What does the A.B. stand for in the author A.B. Gunther Jr?
don't remember all the choices but Sharon picked the worst sounding one and it was right.

I try to make it to at least a few shows to see if I can win something...the cruise would be nice but pins are good too.

Good luck to everyone from DISboards that tries to get in the hotseat.
And Sharon if you win on your next trip,...I'll be sure to plan on sailing with you guys for that one.

Lori

Somehow I missed from hightown's post that she was one of the people I mentioned from the DIS who had won the cruise . Thanks for pointing that out, Lori-n-NY ::yes::. And congrats, hightown :cool1:.

Kay... So what's the answer?!?

Hi,
I made it to the hot seat last year by being at the top of the list. I made it to the 32,000 mark. :flower:
