Hello everyone!!!

Has anyone used these new passes?? How well do they work? How much paperwork will I really need to get these? Dear friends went to Sea World and Busch Gardens, all they needed was their Military ID. Just wondered what we really needed for Disney. I have seen all of the official Disney posts on this, but wondered what it was really like from someone who has used it. For our cruise, I know we have to bring a copy of my husband's orders and all of our Military ID's.
Also, do we need anything when we check into FW? We were never told.

As ususal, all suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Michele

Try looking at www.shadesofgreen.org

They have a drop-down window when you first get to the website that has all of the information about all of the current park military salute programs.

Disney
Universal
Sea World

I hope that this helps........

When we used the Military Salute passes last year, we only had to show our military ID cards, and we were given the tickets.

On a side note, I see you are from Garden City - DH is from Westland!! Hi neighbor!

We did this last year, and we're going again! Yes, your dh will need to show his active ID card both at the room (to get the discounted rate) and at the ticket window. No one else needs to show ID, since he is allowed to by 5 additional tickets anyway. It's different for the cruise because everyone needs ID's regardless of the military discount.
Did your friends have to fill out a form when they got to SeaWorld and Busch Gardens? I printed out a voucher off of the website already, so we don't have to fill this out when we get to the park. (We're only doing Sea World.)

Air Force Rocks...Howdy Neighbor!!!!! We are about 0.1 miles from Westland and I am employed (day job) as a nurse for the Wayne/Westland Schools. I have all my fun at night in the ER!! How wonderfully small the world is on these boards!!

MickeyLuver37.... my friends never even filled out any form! They literally just showed their ID's and were given tix. No hassle, no waiting!! If the form is there, I say have it with you, however...they needed nothing.

Thanks to everyone, as usual this board is the best!

Michele

Camping Disney,

You said your friends went to Sea World and Busch Gardens, were they both free?

lap1031...
yes, both Busch Gardens and Sea World.....all locations from what I understand, not just in Florida are offering free admission to Military members, active and reserve, and up to 5 of their family members absolutely free!! As you know WDW is offering free to MM and $99 5 day passes for up to 5 family members. I have also heard Universal has a programa s well, but I have not checked into that program. I hope this info helps...pm me if not!!

Michele

Universal Florida is offering a deal very similar to Disney...free 5 day admission for the military member, and 5 day passes for family members for $50. We are all set for our trip in Oct.

Does anyone know about the national guard? My DH was fortunate enough to stay here for homeland security. He is an active member of the guard with an active military ID. He doesn't have orders activating him overseas. Is he still included in Disney's Military Salute?
Thanks for any help....we will be there in August and I would hate to purchase tickets online if he falls under the promo.
tink:)

Yes he should be included in the Military salute. He is active duty and that is what they are looking for, if he had a reservist ID then he would need orders.

Dear Lindabacker and Longsx3,
Thanks for your replies. Every little bit helps when planning for a trip! My hang up was on the "activated" segment of their promotion. BTW, Lindabacker, from your count down, it looks like you'll be visiting the mouse at the same time as our family! We'll be there from the 6th of Aug until the 19th! Enjoy! Here's a little pixie dust for your reply!:D

Tink&pan and all other members of the Guard and Reservists:

I spoke with Disney as my husband is an Army Reservist. They told me that any activation, for 1 day or longer counts as activated and then entitles the Military Member to the free ticket. I hope this helps everyone in our "family" to make the most out of this wonderful offer!!!

BTW....we are going on the Western cruise on the 2nd and then a week at WDW starting on the 9th!! Looks like we will all be there at the same time....I'll be looking for lime green and short, short haircuts!!!! LOL LOL LOL

We are going in Nov/Dec. Decided with the hotel discount to try out a moderate resort instead of going to AS Sports like we always do. We had hoped to maybe get called for Shades of Green for over Christmas, but so far no word.

DD & I will have Lime Green Mickey Heads on our lanyards, so if anyone sees them, give us a Hello.

maridw, we used SOG (Contemporary North Wing) last year prior to our cruise, no WDW time but 2 nights in the hotel and went to Downtown Disney. We had alternate hotels planned, and about 2 weeks prior to our arrival, we got that incredible phone call that they had a room available for us. I also have to admit, it helps to call back every once in awhile, and not merely wait for them to contact you. Sometimes things get backlogged into a computer and you could be overlooked.
Good luck!!

BUT - has anyone used them THIS year? These tickets are clearly different from last year's offering -

---but how are they different (aside from price and privilege) from a regular ticket, say a park hopper, or an ultimate park hopper? Can I spread out the five day use over, say, a month? Does the Active Duty ticket look different from the other tickets for family members? Is the Active Duty ticket interchangable with the others? is there some kind of finger scan or id check?

Did any spouse have any problem buying the tickets on his/her own? Do I need to take photo copies of the back of them, as I would with regular multi-day tickets?

Thanks
Maddle

Check through the boards there is a lot of info on the Military Passes. But here is some of your answers:
They have the same privileges as UPH and you can use the tickets any 5 days between when you buy them and the end of the promotion (mid DEC).
I haven't heard the tickets look any different but I have heard that they do the finger scan for all Military Passes and when you purchase them you must have the names and DOB of those you are buying for.

Maddle,

The way I understand it is that the Military Salute passes are 5 day Park Hopper tickets. I was told today by a CM that they can be used any time between now and December 19, 2003 and the days do not have to be used consecutively. The passes are good for admission to all four parks, for the water park, for Pleasure Island, for Disney Quest, and for the Wide World of Sports facility. A visit to any of those places constitutes a day on the pass; you may visit more than one place (don't forget a hand stamp) on any given day and it will still only count as one day.

Hope this info is a bit of help. Maybe someone who has actually used the passes already could give more insight.

We are planning our trip in Sept/Oct and will be using the Military Salute passes, too. Good luck.

Have a Disney Day!:earsgirl:

Hi all! We are just back from using this special and it was wonderful! We went to Sea World first. To save time, get the form for your tixs from your ITT office. You fill in your sponsor's info and then put the number of dependents for that day(up to four). We saved $200.00 plus! For food/parking is where they get you, so if you have AAA, use it!
Then we scooted over to Disney's Coronado Springs for rate $74.00 a night, all stars are for roughly $49.00 i believe. No problem getting the tixs from the guest relations window(we got from Animal Kingdom). Just need current ID's. You get 5 day park hopper plus PI, plus water parks. DH was free, others are $99.00 plus tax. It is the same as the SOG All Stars and Stripes pass. check their website for more details on what is with that pass. We had such a wonderful time and this time was a savings! First time we took advantage of it. My DH is USN Tar Active Duty. The CM at AK told me reservists needed their orders showing active orders when getting passes. Since I and my DS, and DD are season pass holders, we are going in July and buying are $99.00 hoppers in July(I have black out dates with season pass). We understood that DH could get his free now and I could buy ours later. But once you pay for lets say 2-3, you cannot come back later and buy 2 more at a later date. I hope this helps!
