Military 40% Discount (Post Your Rates here)

with the military discount and added the basic dining plan.

You get a one time use AAA diamond parking pass that you can use at any theme park (only good for one use though), a special storytime at Magic Kingdom that's only available for AAA members, and some discount coupons. There may be more but that's what I could think of off the top of my head.

Can you tell me why you chose not to stay at SOG again?

Here's our situation: We are a family of 5 so a value won't work for us. SOG has a pull out couch and the 5 of us have stayed there comfortably before. Plus with being a deluxe level the rooms are bigger. We only eat dinner in the parks. I know by staying at SOG we cannot do the DDP. We are looking for the cheapest option for a 7-8 night stay. Am I missing something? Is SOG not the cheapest option for me? We are going over Thanksgiving and our rate is $127/night. We will have to pay $110 RT for airport to SOG transportation so that will factor into our cost. Anyone have input on how we might do it cheaper and I am just not seeing it? Thanks you guys are always so helpful.

It really came down to two things - the Dining Plan and the chance to stay in a different (relatively comparable) resort for the same amount of money.

Even though we'll have access to Magical Express, I'm relatively sure that we'll go ahead and rent a car anyway for convenience' sake.

If I were in your situation, I would crunch out the numbers doing Port Orleans Riverside (depending on the ages of your children), the Quick Service or Disney Dining Plan, and using Magical Express versus the cost at Shades of Green, renting a vehicle, and paying for your meals separately.

If you're comfortable at Shades and don't mind their restaurants (we personally can't stand them), it's not a bad option for you, but I'd work them both out and see what you come up with, and maybe take into consideration your children's desires as well, again depending on their ages. This deal is a really good chance at the entire Disney experience, from hotels to meals, at a price comparable to what families like yours & mine usually pay at Shades. For us, it was more about having another option and using it as much as anything. :thumbsup2

Wow... I wonder if that's changed? I could swear we've left, then gone back to water parks before. Thanks for confirming.

Is this policy new? I know in the past we were able to leave a water park or Disney Quest and come back in with out using a new day, just the same day ticket? We did this last year?

Not sure! That was the statement the CM made to me. It seems silly to me but that is what she said. :confused3

To me it seems like too much trouble to leave and come back so we probably would not run into this anyway.

When I called the Exchange I use I was told I was allow to buy my tickets (really a voucher) and DH. But some posters are posting they are going alone with their family. I assume they are taking the spouse that is in the military who has to get a voucher as well. When you are at Disney all & including the main military person you all have to show id. But not just the spouse who paid $99. Just adding this as i been reading these post & it seem to suggest the family can go with out the main person I could be wrong if so I am only going by what I was told by my ITT office who should know. MHO

I just booked CBR for Aug. 9th-15th. I did 2 rooms for 6 people plus dining for $2900. I couldn't believe the deal. My husband is retired and we were able to do two rooms. We will add on another $750 for tickets but a week under $4000 is a great vacation!!!:cool1:

I can tell you that for us the we are paying $49 a night at pop so if you did two connecting rooms it would be cheaper and then you also get the magical express and have the option to add on the dining. We have stayed at the SOG twice in the past and just like the disney resorts better. The rooms at SOG are better and bigger but you don't really get that disney feel and the transportation to and from the parks is not that great.

I am confused. I just called Disney today and they stated that you could only book 1 room per service person with this military discount. They said that each booked room had to have a military person registered to it. That is odd... we'd like to be able to book 2 rooms, but they said we couldn't. I wonder why all the problems keeping the details of these deals straight. hmmm?!??

I am not sure about the difference. I know I called the first time and got my quote. When I called back, I was told I could not do dining but I asked her to look again and she found the other code. I don't understand why you could only do one room as long as it was immediate family with you. I was also able to book two rooms for my SIL. She is a widow whose husband past away on AD and she was able to do it in her name. I guess it depends who you talk too. :confused3

It is based on the number of peole in your party. If there is a need for 2 rooms based on your party size for the resort you want then they will let you do 2 rooms.

We got the BWI club level December 6th for 5 nights with dining plan for less than $1900.With my tickets (getting the park hopper) for $124 & DH is free ! Tried talking my brother into it as well but he said Christmas time is for family lol. Now just have to wait until our ITT have the vouchers.:)

Do I need a specific code in order to book the dining package along with the resort reservation?

I booked right when the discount was announced. We are a party of 4: 2 Adults and 2 Children (ages 14 and 11). No problem booking two savannah view rooms at AKL.

I haven't been on the Dis or checked other sources for a while. I guess they are still not offering the purchase of the deluxe dining plan with the 40% military discount?

The last time I called the CM told me, he thought it was an error in the system because there were two codes for QS and no code for DxDP--his thinking was a mess up with the codes of course. He told me to check back in a few days. I haven't called yet as I am not sure I even want it. But, I would like to know my options.

The CM was correct in telling you that you can only get the Quick Service or the Basic Dining plan.
I would LOVE to do the DxDP again.
For those who say it is to much food - NOT AT ALL -
(It really is a lot of food but it is an excellent plan.)

I was told today by DU that we could only book 1 room per military ID with the 40% code. We have 6 adults and 3 kids going on our trip. So I was looking to book 3 rooms. I see some people on this thread have had luck booking 2 rooms. I thought that I read on another thread where someone was able to book 3 rooms. Anyone else running into this problem? What did you end up doing?
