those traveling were me, nicole, 25 and my boyfriend, chris, 28. this was my 5th trip to WDW and DBF's 2nd, the last time he went, however, was before EPCOT opened. we carried a passporter with us at all times and it was great. that's how i'm able to remember enough to make trip reports even after we've been back for two weeks and survived the holidays. we stayed at the animal kingdom lodge for 6 nights.

our first night in the world we ate at jiko, and went on to pleasure island. i had never been before, and was excited about going. we had four day park hopper passes with a plus, so we had already paid for our admission. the first place we went to was the adventurer's club. it was the one i wanted to see the most because of all i had heard about it's theming. when you walk in you are in the second level of a circular room. everything was decked out in all kinds of fun stuff. animal heads on the walls, lots of pictures and signs. we walked downstairs to the bar, and i felt it only appropriate to order a martini $9.00, DBF got a beer $4.00. then the character that is the president of the club came out and did her speal, other characters were a manager whom you can't understand a word he's saying and a maid that is very tall in a short skirt that must climb all over the fireplace in order to dust the room, she was very funny!! we moved on into the mask room, a room with lots of talking and singing masks, where we saw a short show led by the masks of comedy and tragedy. we got another beer and waited just a few minutes to go into the library to see the show. there are different shows all night and the schedule is posted by the door. the show was funny, a few different characters singing songs. we tried to order a drink in the lobrary in a souvenir glass but the waitress told us they did not have those anymore so we passed. after the show we moved on to see the other clubs, but decided at the end of the night that this was our favorite.

we moved on to 8 traxx and it was fairly uninteresting, a big dance floor some lights and disco music. then we peeked in on motion which was pretty much the same thing but techno instead of disco. we enjoyed the rock and roll beach club, the music was a little more our taste but it didn't really hold our interest. mannequins was not our music style either, however it was really neat to get a drink and walk above the dance floor in the cat walks. there was a lonely bartender up there and hardly any people. there were a few spots with stools to sit down up there, so we stayed long enough for one drink, (rasp. stoli and 7, $5.25. we thought we might also have liked the jazz company, but when we stopped in the band was on a break and we weren't ready for another drink so we left and decided to look in some shops. there's a store that is very much like the art of disney store in the marketplace and we really liked that one. i found the perfect christmas gift for my sister. if anyone collects shoes from the "just the right shoe" collection, disney has created similar one's based on characters and they came out about a month ago. i got my sister tinkerbell's and maleficent's.
after looking around a while we actually wandered over to the marketplace and checked out world of disney and 12 day of christmas, two of my favorites. we got two light up 100 years pins, and made our way back to the west end stage for the new year's celebration. i thought this was very overrated. the band counted down the "new year" and that was it, no confetti, horns, anything. we were very tired at this point so we left.

i did enjoy pleasure island and was glad i got to see all the clubs, but we decided we aren't really club people, we don't really like to get out on the dance floor. i think if go back we will stick to the adventurer's club and spend more time at the jazz co.

on monday we went to the boardwalk. after the fireworks at MK we went back to the hotel, lounged for a while, took showers and went to the boardwalk about 10:30. i had been during the day and found it uneventful so we thought we would give it a chance at night. when i heard it would be more exciting at night i assumed late night, so when we arrived that late we missed the excitement. stores and restaurants were closing. we got a piece of pizza through the outside window of a pizza place and ate outside at a table near the water. then we went to the brewery and got a beer, i had the magnolia and really liked it, and DBF got the red beer. we could tell they were closing up to so we went home to get some sleep. i guess i owe the boardwalk one more try!!

The boardwalk really is fun starting in early evening and going to about midnight, I would guess. I love Jellyrolls on the boardwalk, we had a lot of fun there.

I'm not a huge fan of clubs either, but our visit to Adventurer's Club was just the best. The performers are really entertaining.

Thanks for taking the time to post this, I enjoyed reading it.

Thanks for the report. My boyfriend and I are also not big club people, but we do love the Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club. Glad to hear we're not the only ones like that! :) How did you like dinner at Jiko? We ate there in June and loved it.
