mickey's xmas party is it worh it?

Everyone has a different opinion on this.

We went to the party for 10 years consecutively from 1995-2004. The first 6 years it was absolutely wonderful. All the attractions were open, there were plenty of photo locations as well as hot chocolate/cookie stations. Beginning in 2001, things started changes. Less attractions open, less CMs working fewer shows, etc. After that the price continued to rise while taking away more of what made the party special in the first place. No holiday overlay in Country Bears, no party pin buttons, shorter hours. 2004 was the last year we attended. I wrote a lengthy letter to Disney outlining our disappointment. Their attitude, "We feel it offers an excellent value to our guests."

It costs $55.38 for an adult ticket for a 5 hour event. Most of what you do at MVMCP can be done/seen during the day with the exception of the parade. If you want snow, go to Disney's Hollywood Studios to the Osborne Spectacle of Lights where you can get in the holiday spirit for the price of your daily admission.

If you can afford to do MVMCP in addition to your regular park admission, by all means you should do it at least once. However, I feel the value is not what it once was.

I think a lot of things actually fall into that category. One thing Disney has gotten a lot better at is that they no longer undersell themselves. If something is worth a lot more than they're charging for it, they seem to be much quicker at determining that that is the case, and at adjusting pricing and/or the offering so that there is a tighter correlation between value and price.

I think the best example of this, though, is admission: They've totally changed the way they price for the fifth, sixth and seventh day of a vacation. The difference is remarkable.

Regarding the party itself, I think it is worth it as a once in a lifetime experience. I wouldn't go back and do it repeatedly.

I definetly think it's worth it. The snow on main street and everything else is fantastic!!!!

I did it once, but wouldn't (haven't) done it again. It was too dark to see the parade (at least where I was standing.) Now, they do not give you a free picture included with the ticket, either. And the price has gone way up over what I paid. To sum it up - it is way overpriced.

IMO, I wouldnt pay what you pay for the regular day in the park and then pay again at the tune of $50 / pp to stay there for another 5 hours.

I've heard it is beautiful and all that, but paying over $200 for a family of 4 for a few hours in the park is not something I would do....

Another thought is that you can probably see some of it just by staying till the park closes and then walking out after the "party" starts. We did that a couple of years go for the Halloween party. We had dinner at Liberty Tree tavern and didn't leave until 7:15 or 7:30 and the "party" had already started. We couldn't ride any rides or do any extra stuff, but could still leasurily walk out of the park and take in the decorations.

edit to add--

What I wish they would do it make it something that you can by for an extra cost once you are in the park for a much cheaper price. Say $15 / adults & $10 kids or something. I can see charging $50 / pp if you didnt already use a days admission to get in the park, but IMO if you have paid to get in you shouldnt have to pay that much extra--especially since you are kinda getting ripped off with the park "closing" for you earlier than normal those days.
