Thank you for the congradulations! Yes, I did win a prize. We all paid $10 into a pot and the winner got the pot. I got $110. Not to shabby. It will go towards the tips I have to pay on the cruise. :)

Wow, Dawn, that is great!!!

For anyone who has done the character signings on the ship, do you have any suggestions for not waiting in line forty hours? My boys normally don't do autographs but on the cruise they each have something special to get signed. We have had bad luck in the parks with waiting in line for what seems like all of eternity and then when we get to the front of the line, the character's time is over and they leave without us getting to say hello. Now we just schedule character dinings when we go to WDW to avoid all of that. That, of course, isn't an option on the cruise. I would be so grateful for any tips!:worship: (Can you tell I have never mastered the virtue of patience? :rotfl: )

Tink, I don't remember having to wait that long, even for the princesses. The only exception to that was captain Jack Sparrow outside the theatre one night. (The wait was probably not as long as it seemed and it wouldn't have been so bad if there wasn't a pair of really bored and unruly little boys in line behind us buzzing and frequently colliding with everyone in the vicinity of their seemingly clueless parents. I digress.)

Of course, you could give the items they want signed to guest services. If you put the items in a bag with the name to whom it should be signed, the character whose autograph you want, room number and a sharpie, they'll take care of it. That might take all the fun out of it, though. Personally, our limited experience is that if you arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, it pays off. You're bound to see people holding places, and that's kind of frustrating unless it's someone holding your place. ;) but it's not like a few extra people are going to make the difference in whether you get a turn or not. I admit I've done it. DD was in the Club and couldn't be signed out because it was transition time (moving the kids from one part of the ship to another). I got in line for her and walkie-talkied my husband to bring her down as soon as he could sign her out.

Another thing, it's not uncommon to run into the characters on their way to or from an appearance, and they don't seem to mind being stopped. Our kids met Peter Pan, The Mad Hatter, Captain Hook, and Snow White that way. After the first encounter, when the mood struck them, they started carrying their autograph books around.

I appreciate your insight! I emailed Disney cruise line and asked if I could drop off their autographable stuffed animals at guest services. I was told in a very nice way...no. Only t-shirts, pillowcases, or something of that nature. Christopher's favorites are Chip and Dale and Captian Jack Sparrow. Chase would be content with Mickey and Winnie the Pooh. Hopefully we can track those characters down. :)
You also mentioned walkie talkies. We have a set of walkie talkies and I was considering bringing them. They are soppose to be good for up to 3 miles. It sounds like maybe they would be pretty valuable to have around. I understand cell phones are pretty useless. Now, trying to explain how to use them to my technologial challenged mother might be it's own adventure. :lmao:

It's good to know that stuffed animals are a no-no for guest services. Thanks for sharing that. It's easy to understand why DCL draws the line on what we can have autographed. Can you imagine guest services managing 50-60 stuffties at a time? And can you imagine if one of those beloved toys had lice or something?

We also have 3-mile range walkie talkies. They are Motorolas, and we have no complaints. We've even used them when dh and I driving to the same place in separate cars. Originally, we bought them for skiing. It was very useful for me, the "lodge mom", to be able to get in touch with the boys that way.

Before our first cruise, dh grumbled about packing them, since he's all about traveling light, but he quickly recanted his complaints once we started using them. They were most useful on the ship and definitely on Castaway Cay.

Thank you for sharing! I will definitly bring our walkie talkies! Ours are uniden. I think motorolas would be better but I am sure ours will work ok. I originally got them to keep in touch with my eldest while he went bike riding up and down our street. I am sure my neighbor (we only have one- VERY rual community) appreicates the walkie talkies vs me shouting CHRIS down the street. :lmao:
I was at the store today and the new line of bathing suits were out. I found two I really liked. Now, I already have two at home but I could use two more for the cruise, right? BUT then the question is do I buy the size I am now or the size I THINK I'll be by the time of the cruise? :confused3 Now, better sense would say to wait until closer until we leave but for some reason they don't sell bathing suits in FL in the summer unless you go to an expensive specialty store. Go figure. :confused3 Sometimes it is hard being a woman. :rotfl2:

Can't help with that one Tink. A) I hate wearing bathing suits. B) I hate shopping for bathing suits. C) I've never needed more than two at a time.

Where's Patricia? Did that wind blow you away? It was very fierce here. So was the rain. It looks like I could go white water rafting on the creek near near us.

Sorry, I've been MIA..... I did venture out on Saturday to the market (wasnt' bad til I needed to take my groceries to the car!!!). Then I went out again (I scrap book each Saturday with friends) so I HAD to go out, good fellowship and time I actually do set aside to scrap. Sunday I got my taxes done (finished up my kids taxes also) so I can get my refund and pay off my cruise and vow renewal. I've been trying to unload stuff on Ebay to make money for our trip but that is very time consuming. I will definately be on more, got a few major things out of the way. Now work is in the way, I hate how that interfers with Dis time :lmao:

only 180 days til our cruise!!!!
:dance3:

I'm sorry you guys are getting bad weather. :guilty:

Hey don't feel bad, it's over already!!! Thankfully our weather doesn't seem to stay bad long. Today was sunny (cold, but sunny). And with the time change, it's already feeling like spring!!!

Shame on you for having a real life!

Has anyone been following the CC thread. Wow, that was unbelievable. It never occurred to me that people take it for granted that the ship will be able to dock at every port. And to get ugly about it, yikes! I suppose people can get caught up in the moment. If it was me, though, my first thought would be while all these people are down here ranting and raving, I'm going to hightail it up to deck 9 and get a couple poolside chairs for my family. My philosophy in life is, "If you miss the bus, or it doesn't come, start walking. "

Well, I guess the good news is that now everyone who reads that thread has learned that sometimes ports are missed.

Add me to the cruising list....just booked last week. Flying in from Indiana, DS (8) and I will be making our 3rd trip on the Wonder. This is the first 4 day event...all others have been 3 days. We went the same exact week last year too and the weather was nice and warm. By looks of this thread there was been alot of conversing going on. I need to catch up!!

Welcome to the board! My eldest son is close to your sons age. Be aware I might be begging for advice at any moment since this is our first cruise. :rotfl:

Yazee, I couldn't agree more. No need to be nasty over circumstances that can't be helped. Would they want to be unsafe and put them and their families life in danger just for a port? Like you said.....if you get lemons make lemonade! It can't be all bad being on the Mickey boat after all!

Is it me or does anyone else feel like September will never get here?

Welcome to the thread Toesnthesand. You haven't missed a whole lot. We've got ever so long till the big day, anyway, right Tink?

I need help. BIL and SIL are having a Disney-theme birthday for our triplet nieces and nephew and they want the kids to come dressed as Disney Characters. I have neither the time, money, or interest in this but I need to come up with costume ideas for my sons and daughter. Can't we all just go in summer clothes and crocs and say we're not Disney characters, we're just the typical characters you see walking around Disney World.

Monica, I love you take on life. If more people felt this way there would be a lot less disgruntled folks around. I do hope that we get to CC with no problems, but if problems arise, there are worse things than being 'stuck' on the ship.

Welcome aboard and congrats on booking your cruise. We also have a Yahoo group going where we can get to know each other. Is it just you and your son sailing? Glad to hear the weather was good this time last year, I can't wait.

Ok, I am trying to get the yahoo group going. As I mentioned before, this is my first time 'running' a group (I've belonged to MANY). If someone with more experience would like to help, I would be glad to share the group. If you haven't already joined, please pm me and I'll send you a link. If you have joined, please take a moment to read the messages and post an intro. I've started a database and would like to get each persons info so we can share. That way if we have a chance to set up a dismeet we'll 'know' each other or at least someone else on board when we get there.

I have given up on counting down to the cruise. I am counting down to when I can do my forms and make Palo reservations. ;)

Disney characters, eh? Can you do disney t-shirts and shorts and say your Magic Kingom tourists? Have any mickey ear hats? You could put red shirts on them and paint their faces yellow and they can go as pooh. :wizard:

what a great idea.... that's a LOT sooner! I think I'll change my countdown clock to that, then I'll change it after then to the actually cruise day!!!

Ok, took some figuring out, but I've got 73 days til I can make our Palo reservations and stuff!!!! WOHOO!!! (still a while, huh :confused3 )
