Welcome to the thread! Congratulations on your recent marriage! I hope you'll be joining us soon. Dh and I have been on two Disney Cruises with our kids, but this one is just us! I call it the Mean Parents cruise. No kids! We're not really that mean. My mom lives an hour from Cape Canaveral, so we're taking the kiddos to stay with her. She's a young grandmom with a pool and lots of energy. All she needs is a chunk of change from us, and I bet she has those kids so "funned" out by the time we get back, they'll be begging for an early bedtime! Do you have kids?

No we don't have any kids (yet) - we want to travel a bit before we start creating a larger family.
I don't think you guys are mean parents! Like you said - they get a vacation too and I'm sure they'll be spoiled rotten by the time you get back. And as long as you bring them presents I'm sure you'll be forgiven!

Thanks so much for sharing your photos. What a beautiful wedding. You two look so in love (granted that is how you want to look on your wedding day, I love your flowers and how each of your bridesmaid matched the different colors. Everything looks so pretty.

My kids would 'love it' if I brought back something like that, Just kidding. My son is older and married, but he isn't a drinker (thankfully); DD on the other hand lived on campus last spring and took up alcohol 101!!!! Needless to say, her very low weight (she has recovered from anorexia) was no longer a problem, alcohol has lots of calories. I remind her regularly that she is underage and I would rather she waited until she was of age (but I was her age once too). Fortunately DS2 is only 17 and as far as I know he hasn't taken to drinking (and he shares a LOT with me, so I'm pretty sure there). But I guess I better remember to bring home some sort of presents being we are on a "Mean Parents" cruise also.

The story of your daughter reminds me of when I went away to college. I remember calling my mom, drunk out of my mind, and saying "Mom, I'm drunk and there is NOTHING you can do about it." My mom, being the awesome person she is, just said "your right. be careful". I am much more responsible in my old age.

Yea, unfortunately, I knew it would happen and I am a big one for telling her to be careful (no driving, or getting in car with someone drinking, etc, etc, etc!!!!) Of course I worry more about her when she's at school (30 minutes away) than when she was working in disney for four months, lol.

On the other hand, when I was a teenager, about 14 at the time, I was spending the weekend at my best friend's house. The mom of the house wanted to go out with her boyfriend so she asked my friend (15 at the time) to babysit the younger kids (10, 6, and 2). My friend demanded money. Her mom said she didn't have any. So, my friend demanded that her mother's boyfriend get her some cash or some Jack Daniel's. I thought it was a joke. It should have been a joke, right? No joke. Her mom came back that Sunday with a half a bottle of JD she had pinched from her boyfriend's apartment.

I'm sure we'll bring back new pins and probably something for each of them from the Straw Market but most likely not booze or weed.

I of course knew you were kidding, but it sounded so cute, i had to run with it(and remember mine are older than yours; 23; 20; 17).

I thought a 'good christian upbringing' would help them make the right decisions, but only they can make up their minds. DS1 (the 23) didn't drink until he was of age and then only an occasional drink, then recently got drunk and DID NOT like the effects, so he's sworn off alcohol, yea!!!; DD though, did try it once while younger, like 16 or so at a friends, but until she moved on campus last February, she didn't drink until she shared a room with her childhood friend (love those friends ) and hopefully DS2 will wait to try alcohol.

I Knew you were kidding and it was very funny. I can relate to your story. I was the kid that all my friend's parents were actually glad to see come over. I had to help bail one of my friends out of jail (for cocaine possession) so she could make it to graduation on time. My mom was always amazed at how all my friends were drinkers (or even on drugs) but I never had any desire for such things. I have always been a "once in a while" drinker. When I do drink though, I love my foo foo drinks. I can't wait to get on the cruise with a pina colada and a bahama mama.

Ahhh, college memories. Your mom sounds a little like my mom. When she found out I was engaging in adult things she tried to warn me not to do, she basically said, "Okay, you're going to be an adult, you'll find out the consequences of adult behavior."

The first and only time I got drunk was while I was in college. I didn't (and still don't) like beer or wine, but I wanted to see what it was like to be drunk. I went with my friends to a party off campus and we drank peach Snapps there. That did the trick. I didn't get sick or anything, and truthfully, it was kind of fun, but it wasn't worth the hangover and I didn't like what I remembered about the way I acted.

Ok, I'm going to toot my own horn here for a second. We had a biggest loser challenge at work and I won. My coworkers asked me what my secret was. I said simple........ I have a cruise in six months!

We also payed our cruise in full today! Yahoo!

Thank you for the congradulations! Yes, I did win a prize. We all paid $10 into a pot and the winner got the pot. I got $110. Not to shabby. It will go towards the tips I have to pay on the cruise.
