judt wondered if anyone had been to the Halloween party and if so do you have any recommendations? Also does anyone have ideas for grown up 'light/cool' costumes (we are going to the 1st party on 15th Sept :goodvibes). We have booked this for the 1st time, we will have ds 10 and ds 7 with us. We're very excited as the boys are also booked in for the Pirates league in the afternoon so will be dressed as pirates as part of ds 7th birthday ;)

We went in 2012 and loved it! See my Avatar for our costumes and there is a link in my signature to my trip review of it. There are loads of costumes on Ebay. You could go as Captain Hook and Tinkerbell (if your family is Mum and Dad) to go with your boys' pirate costumes. Or Wendy and Peter. Or Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann.
Sorry, getting carried away ;)

We went in 2011, 2013 and are going this year too. Last time went as Captain Hook (see my avatar) BF went as Smee and his sis went as Peter Pan. The skys the limit with costumes. Make sure you think about not only light clothing but clothing that won't cause a problem on rides - I had to keep taking my hat off and in 2011 my dress was shorter so it wasn't fun getting in the cars on the speedway and space mountain. If you're in the park all day then that's another thing to think about with costumes. You can either wear something simple all day or just store it in a locker until the party.

There's loads to do so do your research and decide on your priorities. Think of which characters your kids want to meet & see how popular they are (e.g. 7 dwarves and Jack & Sally are very popular so people queue up before the party begins). The fireworks and parade are amazing. If you're going to be in MK all day and your kids won't last until midnight, make sure you hit the first parade (they do it twice - once before the fireworks and once after) but be prepared as that one is more crowded than the second. Then you can leave after the fireworks. If they're night owls and can stay up late then the second parade is worth it as it's easier to get a good seat.

Hope you have an amazing time!

I like it when a family does a matching theme and definitely will get alot of attention from cms and other guests that way. So anything that compliments 2 pirates.

I agree that family costumes are always a hit. I think Captain Hook and "Lady Smee" could be cute. Or maybe mum & dad could go to Pirates League too ;)

I would check a few sites with party break downs. We used Disney Tourist Blog and Kenny the Pirate's party resources before our last trip. From there make a list of priorities for you and your family - you know better than us what you will love (though I do suggest fitting in the Boo To You Parade at least once and Hallowishes). We used our priorities to make a rough plan and with that we managed to see the parade, fireworks, stage shows, get all the magic shots, do a little bit of trick or treating and we also met lots of 'rare' characters. Including Jack and Sally, The 7 Dwarfs, Jack Sparrow, Maleficent, Aladdin & Abu, Donald and Daisy (we were dressed as Heuy, Duey and Leuie so that was a must for us) and several others that don't spring to mind right now and that was on Halloween Night when the park is super busy! Though, we didn't ride any rides or do anything available during 'regular hours' because we thought that was a waste of party time.

Point is, going in with an idea of what we wanted to see/do ahead of time really helped us be able to check off lots of stuff because we didn't spend a lot of time hanging around wondering what to do next. We decided in each queue where we'd be going next and headed straight there. With two young boys you may not want to dart around everywhere like we did, but make sure to spend a little time researching the party so you have some idea of what you want to achieve - since there is only five hours part time you may as well try to maximise that any way you can!

Hope you have an amazing party!!

I've been a few times and we did a pirate themed group one year.
A couple pirates (easy and light weight to pack for), Tinkerbell, Tiger Lilly, one of the mermaids and a Wendy.
Also done an Alice themed night for my hen night where I was Alice and the girls dressed as the pack of cards which looked awesome and done a Toy Story night as there's plenty of characters to pick from.
Make sure you find where the hard to meet characters are and get in early as the queues get huuuuge! Jack and Sally are good as are the full set of dwarves. You can meet lots of different characters so find a cast member early to tell you where the good ones are :)
It's a fun night - your kids might like trick or treating too where they can collect sweets/candy at locations across the park!

The best party disney do in my opinion! We do it every time we go! I've dressed up fully before but now tend to wear a dress/top with skulls on or similar to fit in. Costumes are great but with all the rides as well as the heat I have found it can be uncomfortable after a while!
Get there for the 4pm when it starts so you don't waste time collecting those candies :)
