Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade To End In June

Well it wouldn't be a new day if Disney wasn't getting rid of something right?

Not that I'm a definitive source on anything happening at AK or anything, but I do work there, and I do work parade, and I have heard nothing about it closing.

I know, I'm only a CP, and I have no insider information or reliable sources to quote. However, we should probably take this rumor with a grain of salt anyway, since over on the Rumors and News board, rumors indicated that it was supposed to close many times over the last few months.

Anyway, hopefully it won't close. It's a lot of fun, so even if you don't think it will close you should still check it out on your next trip!

The cast of the parade was told yesterday that the parade will be closing in June. So I think it's really happening this time.

Does anybody know why Team Disney Orlando is getting rid of the parades? Do they cost too much money? Maybe they don't like seeing people standing around in front of the stores instead of being in the stores? :confused3

This just seems so stupid to me. The parade was the reason we stayed there til 4 or 5 pm. I'll basically watch any parade, love them.

Now people are just going to be clearing out earlier, getting ready to hop somewhere else. I thought spreading out the crowds and utilizing blah-blah-blah was one of their goals.

We saw the Christmas version in November...it was just darling.

In a park that is already so thin on attractions, especially for little kids, why cut one and one that appeals to little kids for that matter? Was it really that expensive to keep running? The mind boggles.
I feel the same way. The only reason my family and I ever stayed past lunch was to see the parade. There just isn't enough at Animal Kingdom to hold our attention. We loved the parade, though, so we would arrive at Animal Kingdom, do the rides and shows we loved, grab some lunch, and then, since we had done all we cared to, would do some shopping, grab a drink and/or a snack, and just hang out until the parade. I guess this means we will get another half day at one of the parks we enjoy more, but I'm really struggling to understand the logic behind getting rid of such a fun, good parade. :confused3

Just adding my 2 cents, my family and I enjoy watching this parade. With that being said, I think it’s time for a change.
The parade feels like it lacks something I am just not sure what.

FWIW, my family and I made AK a full day park, and what was WITHOUT seeing the parade, so it can be done. Maybe it's because it was our first time there. (Though, I can see how, for some, it could be a half day park.)

I think this has to be because of the expansion coming. Whether we see a new parade or not I think it was going to have to change at some point. I loved this parade but I'm hopeful we might see a lot of new entertainment options once avatar land opens. With all the new night time entertainment I would think they would work on some new day time entertainment as well.

But they aren't replacing it with anything new yet. Just gone, poof. That's the sad part.

Sorry to see it go. I like this parade, and will definitely go see it in March.

I think Magic Bands have used up too much money that they are cutting here and there. AK is already a lacking park. My 7 yo chose to skip the park last year because she thinks there is nothing to see/play there. That's the perception AK has on a child. I hope Disney tries to put back in more, instead of cutting everywhere. Solely capitalizing on new princesses is not my cup of tea.

So sad the Jingle Jungle parade now joins the ranks of Lights of Winter in dead Christmas attractions.

That stinks. I think what makes me really sad about all of these cuts, is that Disney will not be the place it was when I grew up. I want my son to love it just as much I do.

On other forums, the reasoning for the closure is the ongoing Avatar construction and the lack of a backstage route for the parade in the near future.

The speculation is also that Entertainment has four months to come up with other entertainment acts to fill the void of the extinct parade.

It would be much more acceptable for them to say the parade is being discontinued while a new parade is being imagineered. That's all they would have to do. The way they are doing things it just feels like they are taking taking and taking and not giving back to the parks.

Thank you. I wish TDO would just come out and say that because it makes sense and gives a reason for the discontinuance of the parade.

I've never actually seen this parade. I am going to make a point to see it on Tuesday. FWIW, I've always managed a full day at DAK even without ever seeing the parade. We actually really enjoy DAK.

I hope they are working on something new. I think it might be good thought to wait and add a new parade once avatar opens in 3-4 years.

I loved that Rafiki lead this parade and I thought it was so cute when Mickey would ask him how it looked at the front of the parade and Rafiki would respond, "So many people!" I thought the music was excellent, as well. But most of all, I loved how much a part of it Rafiki was. When I was at Epcot 2 weeks ago, a cast member told me that they were planning on getting rid of Rafiki's planet watch, as well, to make was for Avatarland and all things that went along with that. If that proves to be true, as well, it seems that there will be very little Rafiki in the park - and Animal Kingdom seems like the perfect place for him. And I loved that parade.
