disney-super-mom,
It looks like we will be at the PP at the same time and going to MHT on the same night too. I would like to say Hay if I see you all. Im going to lowes to get something lime green MM head. Anyway Im not packed yet but am getting more and more excited as the days go by.:cool1:

Allllll right! You're gonna be there too?! AWESOME!!!:cool1:

We're not packed yet either, but I've begun to get my clothes picked out that I'm going to take. Then I have to pick out clothes for everyone else (DH, DS 8, and DS 4), and then I have to pack it all.

I'll look for your lime green MM head. I'll have one too!

If you see a really tall guy and a petite mom going around with an 8 year old ghost pirate and a 4 year old red Power Ranger, that's us!!!:yay:

Hay you sound so young! My DS's are 18 and 16, ok I feel old. Well I hope you enjoy PP like I know I will. Kind of nervous about the crowds, not used to that . This time of the year is usually slower but from what Ive been reading its been out of control:eek: And now the fires. Just praying that all goes well.

Well, I see alot of people went the same night we did (10/18), we should of had a meet n greet LOL We had a ball! We spent the entire day at DL and than went back to hotel and got dressed for MHT. We arrived about 6:30 ish (tad later) and walked right in to massive crowds and hung to the left and encountered a ton of people! We have never been to Calif Adv so it was abit confusing and seem to spend the first half hour trying to figure everything out. We hit the first TT station just down from Soaring CA and than just progressed through the other stations back behind there very fast. Most lines were short for us and if there was a long one, we just skipped and came back. I found the long lines seem to be the ones that a CM was controlling how many went up to the station. The other lines went much faster and I didn't think were chaotic. We ended up with a tote bag full of candy, at least 5 lbs, which also included apples, fruit leather, carrots and raisins. I will weigh the bag today, just curious! It was hard candys and some chocolate. The kids were excited when we got to PP since it was empty on that side (everyone must of stopped in Bugs land or other areas before making it back there) and rode the Zephry, swings, and some other rides over there and also played the boardwalk games. We were lucky and on our way out, got a front row spot for the parade, stopped right in front of us. That was cool since we weren't really planing on watching it. We also went to Soarin CA which someone in line had recommended, that was fantastic. We ended a bit early but was glad to get back and fall asleep!

Nah, we're getting up there too! We only sound young because we started having kids a little late (and because we're kids at heart). I'm now 37 and my DH is 40.:goodvibes

I'm a little nervous about the crowds too, but I'm hoping that during the weekdays (Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs) it won't be too bad. We're prepared either way though. EE and fastpasses can do wonders to make a crowded time at the parks much more enjoyable.:thumbsup2

Hopefully those winds will die down so the firefighters can get a handle on all those wildfires! Everyone down there, stay safe!!!:grouphug:

Just going to add in our experience:

We went to MHT on Oct. 5, the day we flew in from Seattle, which in hindsight probably wasn't the best plan with two little ones. DS3 had been ill on the flight and we were stressed out worrying if this was the beginning of something major or a minor tummy upset.

He seemed fine in the afternoon, so after dinner we dressed the boys in their costumes (DS7 was an Army soldier in green fatigues, DS3 a mini-pirate) and dashed off to the party.

I wish I'd thought to take lots of pictures of the other guests like Kelly did, because there were some fantastic costumes that either made us "oooooo" and "ahhhh", and some others that (perhaps unintentionally) made us laugh. The kids were so adorable, but we loved most of the clever adult costumes of those in the spirit of the occasion (unlike DH and me)!

I distinctly remember one very tall, slender man wearing all black underneath a long black trenchcoat, and he had bony type gloves and a skeletal sort of mask. He moved very slowly and deliberately, and gracefully, it was as if he just embodied his character! I worried that small children would be afraid of him, and how mature he was to deal with that (is he a very tall 16yo who is going to frighten them on purpose?), but a toddler girl approached him immediately, and he knelt down to her and was very sweet, holding her hand for a bit as he talked with her. When he got up he swept his trenchcoat dramatically and strode away.

I also saw a brave Mr. Incredible who was either unaware or just didn't care that spandex is not his friend! You go, Bob! :rotfl:

My master plan was to make a mad dash to the waterfront to see Mickey and Minnie (thus avoiding the expected long line as the evening passed), and then to head toward the back of the park before working our way to the front again. My "reverse commute" idea worked fairly well; we were maybe 4th or 5th in line to see Mickey and Minnie, and the duo clowned a bit with the kids. I noticed no one was pulling out the autograph books, so we didn't either. (Were they doing autographs or not?) :confused3

DS7 wanted to hit every candy line thereafter, and fortunately they were either very short or non-existent, so that was fine. I think there might have been one or two tiny chocolate bars in the mix, but it was mostly the Toxic Waste and Tootsie Roll type of candy, a bit disappointing for me, but honestly the boys couldn't care less! It's all CANDY!!!

The boys loved all the projected light images on the pathways, dancing and chasing ghostly images and giant spiders. I couldn't talk either one into going into Golden Screams or near any of the villains, darn it!

DH and DS7 did Mulholland Madness, then we all did Jumpin' Jellyfish, then off to the carnival games. The boys LOVED playing the games, and my goodness, DS7 is great with a baseball, I had no idea! I can't remember if he was 3/3 or 2/3! (Mama was 0/3... But I did win the skeeball game, WOOHOO!) DH went 3/3 on the basketball toss, but no surprise there. :)

We scouted out some other rides, settling on the King Triton Carousel, and then DH and DS7 braved California Screamin'. I was going to try it out, but DH was looking a little green when he got off the ride, and said he nearly lost his dinner at one point, so I chickened out (again.) Maybe next trip...

We wandered through the pier, then through the Pirate area and the Bug's Land. The boys did not want to do any crafts or dance with the pirates, or ride any more rides after Heimlich's Chew Chew Train. DH and I were beat and figured the boys were, too, so we headed toward the entrance. Incredibly, we'd walked that whole way and done all that stuff in only an hour and 15 minutes!

In hindsight, I think we would have had more stamina if it hadn't been the first day of our trip (and of course if we hadn't had the stress of the illness and travelling.) And perhaps it would be more fun when the kids are older (not used to such an early bedtime, and DS3 is able to ride more rides.) Still, we did have a great time anyway, even if it was a short night!

And one more note about the adult costumes (and I think I've seen other threads related to this): DH and I don't get out much, and Halloween is spent taking the kids around the neighborhood and passing out candy from our home, with an occasional kiddie Halloween party in the mix. But at MHT I saw sooo many skimpy female costumes, I was really stunned! These looked like something you'd find at Fredricks of Hollywood, with very short skirts, fishnet stockings and teetering on 5" spiked heels or thigh-high platform boots, and chests nearly bared and thrust out to there! I can see some people wearing outfits like that to an adult party, I guess; but it just seemed a bit much for MHT, I thought. Is this typical for Halloween these days??? :confused3

Mary Jo - thanks so much for posting all those pictures. They're so much fun to look at! I love the costumes - some are quite incredible!

Also loved watching the video you took of riding CS. Looks like so much FUN!:woohoo: DH and I have never been on it yet because we have 2 younger ones, and we didn't really want to split up and ride it alone (it's always more fun to ride together, if you know what I mean). However, after watching your video, I just may have to finally ride it, even if I'll be riding alone. DS 8 is tall enough to ride it this year, so if he wants to try it, maybe I'll have a riding partner. (I don't think he'll want to try it though.....just a guess.:goodvibes ) He'll ride Indiana Jones with me or DH though, even though he really doesn't like it very much, so we have to give him credit for that!:rotfl:

DH and I LOVED riding Rockin' Rollercoaster at WDW though!!! (We didn't have the kids with us on that trip.)

disney-super-mom,

You won't find the Mickey heads at Lowes. Go to Home Depot!! :goodvibes

pirate: I love those pictures. We were there that same night and I loved the chickens. My dh was Major Nelson and I was Jeanie from I dream of Jeanie. We had a great time. We have a dd 14, dd 12, and dd 4 and they all were able to get plenty of treats and then walk on to all of the rides they wanted with little to no wait time. This was definitely the highlight of our Disney trip this year!!!:cool1:

I was disapointed in the candy too...........the quality really went down and it almost felt like they were doing you a favor giving it to you. They could raise the price $5.oo and give decent name brand candy. Next year we will do Christmas time instead. I'll post some pictures in a bit.

I am going tonight & I can't wait.:woohoo: I hope it'll be FUN! then again like a fellow "dis-poster" said, "it's as fun as you choose to make it" :wizard: or something like that... lol. I am gong to have a blast. :cool1: I will try to take as many pictures as possible. YAY!!!

jemilah, please tell me your DS did the "peanut butter jelly" song some time during the night! :rotfl:
