If Mickeys backyard BBQ is scheduled for 5:30 but they recommend getting there around 4:45, is the eating portion at 5:30 or after the dancing part? I'm thinking about timing for breakfast because it might be the only day for 1900 park fare brunch...

This is served buffet style so you serve yourself pretty much the whole time you are there. The dancing part is almost continual with small breaks during the show. Getting their early gets you a better seat as the crowds line up and a potential photo op with some characters.

You should be eating by 5:40 or so, if you get there early. Just have to be seated and then head to the buffet.
