Has anyone ever been to Micky's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness Lodge.

Just would like to know what your views are on it.

Not sure weather to give it a go this year as we have never been.

15 years for us, LOL. Our girls, who were 7 and 5 at the time, absolutely loved it back then - the character interaction is possibly the best onsite. Imagine an excursion on a Med holiday and it's the Disney equivalent of that - lots of coach parties. Similar to one of the dinner shows in Orlando, too, I'd say. We also got to see the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach and I can't see any reason why that still wouldn't be the case.

I've done it (at Fort Wilderness, which is different than the Lodge).

I had been sooo looking forward to it, but wasn't impressed. I really prefer the Hoop De Doo.

We're currently doing the Hoop Dee Doo, but was contemplating changing it to the Backyard BBQ. Thanks for your opinion nbodyhome! Has anyone else done else/both and can give opinions over preferences?

We did hoop last year, thought that was great too. That is my kind of food. Disney can keep their fancy eateries for me, Ribs and chicken, my mouth is watering now.

We did BBQ in 1998 and found it most disappointing. Hopefully it has improved since then. There was good character interaction but that was the only good part, the food was disappointing as it was very meat oriented (I'm not a vegitarian but I don't eat a lot of meat.)

I think we were mis-sold this trip by our Virgin rep as we thought we were going to a show whereas it turned out to be a line dancing evening. Our kids 4 and 7 at the time were really bored. It didn't help that as the tickets had been sold to Virgin customers nearly all the people there were British. I might as well have gone to Butlins for the evening.

But it was 9 years ago - it must have got better.

We have been twice. The first time loved it. We went with some friends we made whilst out there. It was great Line Dancing with the characters. The second time was bored. We went on our own and didnt gho again. That was in 98. However BBQ is on our list for Nov. The kids will love it. The food was average, but we didnt really go for the food. We wanted the atmosphere. I loved what was on offer.

I went a few years ago and i really enjoyed it! The food was simple but delicious! Chicken, ribs, hot dogs etc!

The entertainment is quite fun, especially for younger kids! The unlimited beer and wine is fun for the adults ;)

The atmosphere is pretty good too! Its a fun night out!

We did it in 2000 and I did enjoy it. This is Disney's version of a Ho Down and it was fun. The food was simple but enjoying and I had serious character interaction with Minnie. Don't know if I would do it again but certainly enjoyed it at the time.

We rellay enjoyed itthe first time in 2000 .We went last year with friends but found to many young chidren on the dance floor with parents taking photos .

I wouldnt swap hoop dee doo for the bbq - the food, service, and show are all better at hoop dee do, the characters are only out at the bbq for about 20 mins total with breaks in between, you get better character interaction at crystal palace or chef mickeys. I would definately stick with Hoop Dee Doo
