Mickey, Minions & more. 2 week holiday. Updated 9/14 - FINAL THOUGHTS

I always have paper work for any car rental. I swear they delete you when you have a really great deal. 2 winters ago, we were in Phoenix and we rented a Tahoo that seats 8 for a great price. We were told they didn't have any. After an hour of standing around, they finally approved our rental. I think they wanted us frustrated and they hoped we would walk away. We get out to the car rental garage and there are at least 10 Tahoo's sitting in the garage.

I am betting you had some warm weather, for some reason I have been watching Florida weather and they have been in the 80's for the last 2 weeks. Though you might have been there a few days before it got really warm.

I'm here too :)

Glad your travel day was uneventful, I hate long flights, I get really fidgety :rotfl2:

I am so glad I did. I agree with you on the deletion.
I hate companies that lie like that.
We had wonderful weather.

I'm here too :)

Glad to see you.
me too and start smacking Vinny out of nerves. LOL

Hi Scott :wave2:

It was nice meeting you with Rosie at DTD. :goodvibes

I agree with you that the "darkside" has some nice rides! We love Harry Potter. Hoping the next time you are in Florida you are able to ride Forbidden Journey. :)

That's pretty cool on the inflight monitors... although since I do not like flying, maybe it's too much info. I like trying to zone out and pretend I'm anywhere but in the air!

Looking forward to reading along. :goodvibes

Hi,
It was nice meeting you too.
it does have some fun rides. Thanks.
I watch the map to make sure it is going either up or in an even line. :rotfl2:
I like looking out the window but I do hate the bumps.
Thanks for joining in.

As many of you know on October 14th of this year I had gastric sleeve surgery. I was very nervous about going to Disney with the food down their but I spoke with my surgeon and he told what to have and what not to have (bread, rice and alcohol) so I went knowing this. Vinny and I both wear UP By Jawbone bracelets that count your steps and your calories and also tells you your sleep patterns. I will be posting the results for the walking at the end of each day but here are Day 1 results first.

A new day was upon us and we were heading south. Vinny has a friend who moved to Florida years ago and I know her from Facebook so one day I asked her if she wanted to go to lunch and she said yes. I ran it by Renee and she was on board so we were going to see Gerry. Now we have to drive by where Vinny’s son (Scott) lives so why not see if he is available for dinner that night. He was so that was on the agenda also. If you read my last report you were introduced to Aubrey (Vinny’s Granddaughter) and we asked her to come but she had a wedding she could not get out of (she does show up later in the trip).

I got up really early ( I also went to sleep really early for me) and looked out the window. This was our view, a mini golf place.

Here is our room (very messy). I love when we get 2 beds being I can stretch out. LOL.

Vinny took a shower first and then I went in. Before I did I took photos of the bathroom.

They give you shampoo, soap and conditioner or lotion (can’t remember) in dispensers in the shower. I liked this idea but was not crazy about smell of them.

The towel rack that was in the shower. I thought they would get soaked but not a drop.

Looking at the bathroom from the tub/shower area.

Renee was up earlier than us so she went and had breakfast. We went downstairs for the free buffet once I was ready. Here is my plate. Scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes with yogurt. I could not eat the yogurt as I was full from the plate.

Vinny wanted to get a coffee for the road so we waited. Here is Renee giving me peace. LOL

Here is our hotel looking up at it.

Then we were on our way. Halfway we stopped at a rest area. I wanted to get an iced tea from Dunkin’ Donuts but the line was long being they only had 2 cashiers. I went into the market there and just bought an iced tea there. Not the same. LOL

Once we hit the Jupiter area we had rain for the rest of the trip down and while at Gerry’s. We found her place easily and I must say I want to move into her community tomorrow. Absolutely gorgeous and so was her condo.
Here is her patio. I could sit out here everyday and be happy.

This here is Dude or Doodle. She called him Dude the entire time unless he misbehaves. LOL.

He was not happy with us when we first arrived but he soon warmed up to us. He was so cute and very lovable.

This is Terri, a friend of Gerry.

It was great talking to her as she was great company and she joined us for lunch.

Of course we all know Vinny.

Renee

The host of the lunch. Gerry.

Cute photo. Dude really loves Terri.

There is a duck who comes into the driveway and gets fed. Here you can do that, at Disney that is a no-no.

After lunch (which I thought I took a pic of the food which included lunch meats, hard boiled eggs, hummus, Greek yogurt, bagels and more and she really accommodated me with my diet and I was so happy and grateful) Terri left to go home and then soon we were leaving also to go meet Scott. But wait. What did I find out? There was a Walmart nearby (I love Walmarts) and we must go. We said our goodbyes and took a group photo.

We then left and made our way to Walmart where I might have gotten lost even with the GPS. :rolleyes2 After finding it and then getting on the road we were going to be 15 minutes late to meet Scott. OOPS!
We did finally get there and our dining choice was at The Cheesecake Factory.

We chatted and then we ate. The menu was as followed.
Me – Chicken Quesadilla app.
Vinny – Spicy Ahi Tuna Rolls
Scott – Fettucini Alfredo
Renee – Chinese Chicken Salad
Mine was good but I could not finish it and Scott had the last piece. Vinny said his was not good being it was overcooked. It was all worth it though to see Scott.

After dinner we talked outside the restaurant for a bit then we walked to the garage and we left.

Here is Vinny and Scott.

Then the three of us.

Now of course coming home was a long trip because Vinny had me take I-95 which has no tolls and so it felt like forever. I also went to a rest area and it was creepy there.
Then we got back to the hotel and we all went to sleep.

Here is the pic of my walking for this day.

Up next,

Universal here we come

I love that you tract this everyday!

Cool soap dispensers in the shower. That room looks pretty spacious. It's always interesting staying at a non-Disney hotel, isn't it?

Love how every house in Florida has a lanai. Aren't they wonderful. That alone is enough to make me want to move to Florida.

me too. I think I might want the new fitbit, it tracks your swimming and steps upstairs.

It was very spacious. it is being we always compare it. LOL

That and the warm weather makes me want to move. :rotfl2:

Jim would get those towels wet. The dispensers are nice but I would still use my own soap. I'm fussy like that.

That ride down to Jupiter is long. My aunt used to live in West Palm Beach and we drove down to visit her several times. You would think that since she is now 30 minutes away I would visit every trip. Bad niece.

Vinny looks so happy to see his son.

That hotel building is so cool looking

I love the dispensers in the shower :thumbsup2

Love the Lanai. What a gorgeous view out of it. I would love to live down there. :goodvibes

Looks like some nice visits and great pics :goodvibes

I did use my own.
It wasn't bad going down but Vinny's cheap way home took forever.

It was really cool. Loved it and would stay again.
They were nice just wish better product.
Me too. :sad1:

Hi Scott! I have been reading but apparently not commenting. Oops!

I love the tracking app you shared. I just looked it up and it looks really interesting. Looks like you have to purchase a band?? I happened to have an app called walking mate that is on my new phone and I was fascinated with how many steps we walked at WDW.

Looks like some great family and friend get togethers. Ahhh Cheesecake Factory! I love their shrimp scampi.

Glad you are here.
You do have to buy the band and then you plug into your phone to get the readings. It is really good just too cold here for me to go walking. LOL. I was shocked by our amounts.
It was fun and great seeing them.

Awesome update! LOVE the bracelets and you are LOOKING GREAT:thumbsup2 Keep up the good work! I am missing the warm swimming weather....it's been 20 degrees and snowing/ice:rolleyes2 A heat wave of 60 is hitting Saturday though :rotfl: Glad Scott could join you for dinner, I am sure Vinny was so happy to see his son) and YES I remember beautiful Aubrey! Glad you get to meet up with her later in the trip! :goodvibes

I also enjoy getting a separate bed from hubby...S-T-R-E-T-C-H!

That's a neat looking hotel and the room looks really nice.

It's wonderful that you were able to meet up with friends of Vinny's and his son too. The picture of the three of you is great!

so nice you were able to see friends and family when you arrived. Scott is handsome like his father! you crack me up with the "creepy rest room stop." I get creeped out too lol you never can get back to the car fast enough! Waiting for Universal photos and stories. Haven't been in almost 5 years and it was an evening party for when Curt was attending Lotusphere down there and I tagged along on that business trip.

Great pics! :)
thank you

Thanks. I am enjoying them. Thank you.
I am missing it too. I loved swimming everyday in December.
We are supposed to be low 60's to 70 on Saturday. Strange weather.
It was nice we got to see him and Vinny was very happy to.
Happy we did get to see Aubrey and wait till you see the sweatshirt. LOL
That is a nice feeling when you can stretch out.

Scott looks exactly like his Grandfather. it is eerie.
Did you see the horror movie "Rest Stop"? I think they filmed at one of them. :lmao:
I will probably write it up tonight or tomorrow.

:rotfl: What in the world were you and Vinny arguing over?
Y'all really do act like a married couple!

Sounds like dinner was yummy, we have a place out here that serves quesadillas with asiago cheese and crawfish in it, it's sooo beyond good. I think I love just about anything with lots of cheese and seafood of some kind in it. Not that I allow myself to have it very often. :sad2: Seafood yes, cheese, not to so much.

The room was nice and I'm glad y'all got to spend some time with your friends and Vinny's boy. He doesn't look to thrilled to have his picture taken, but Vinny sure looks like a proud Papa. :goodvibes

I like the idea of your bands, are they pricey? I'm going to check out the walkmate that Brenda was talking about, that might work out too. Free is always better!

Can't wait to see what else is in store! :woohoo:

Off to my workout!! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: He said we landed and I was saying we had not. Renee agreed with me.

I have never had crawfish. It does sound delicious. I have the string cheese with part skim milk cheese.

it was a really nice place.
Thanks.
He didin't get the (I'm ready for my photo) gene from Vinny. :lmao:

Around $100. The ones we have are the older ones so they might be cheaper.
I have used the apps but find I get more accurate readings from the band and I also like to use it for sleep but yes free is better.

Can't wait to see what else is in store! :woohoo:
:thumbsup2

Off to my workout!! :goodvibes
I hope it was good.
