Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

Looks great!! :woohoo:

thank you dear!

Plans sound good! :thumbsup2

I had no idea about the characterpalooza thing until recently. Wondering if DH would be game, it being just the two of us.

And I hope you don't hold out on us for too long... the suspense of not knowing what your "special things" are will kill me!

characterpalooza is a lot of fun and a great place to see the rarer characters. i say time your animation to get out about that time and just happen to be there anyway.

i wont keep you hanging too long.... i'm not trying to keep a big secret, just wanted to wait until i had enough time to give it a proper introduction here.

Great job on your ADRs! :thumbsup2

Your comment about Characterpalooza made me realize that I didn't factor that into my dinner ADR for our DHS day. Hmmmmm.....may need to go back to my drawing board.

ha! i saw your ADR thread... you are a hoot! seriously though, you shoukld consider scheduling around it. i'm about to get to it im my forever old TR but we saw quite a few in a short time.

i'm second guessing my time on that one too. i want to also make sure we can go see Phineus and Ferb late- like probably right before they close, thinking the lines will be shorter then. i dont want to eat too late though. i think we will be tired early between an early morning and the party the night before.

Joining in for what I expect to be a fun-filled WDW PTR! (what else could we expect from IB & crew!?)
I'm so excited for y'all, getting back this year. I know oh-soooo-well, it takes lots of sacrifices to pull off these trips, (and weekly Disney Gift Card purchases!)
Early ADR at CP is awesome! MK-before the masses attack-is even more special..."Kodak Moments" galore!

We had a wonderful Halloween trip in 2011, hope to do that again real soon. Christmas time is our favorite time in Orlando, but it's CRAzY crowded....but we'll do it again very soon, if not this year, 2013 probably. For now, an "unplanned" summer surprise trip is in quickly becoming a planned trip....perhaps just a "father-autistic son trip"...but it ain't a done deal yet. I'm hafta convince myself that I can stand the Florida summer-perhaps even worse than our Houston summers! And now, the pin code discovered yesterday attached to my name has pushed me to the brink.) Number One Son just informed me that Test Track will be closed all summer, so we should go this week, before they close. :sad2: Oops. Apparently, that ain't gonna happen!

I gotta fix my "ticker".

i can't wait until we go for Christmas! my heart just fluttere when DH said that! i have no idea when we are goig to do it though. he said no disney next year, but you know, they wont believe in santa forever...... i can't imagine that orlando will be much worse than houston in the summer. i think houston is like us. upper 90's most days, 100's the rest, super humid. of course at home, i hide inside most of the summer during the main part of the day.

i too have been collecting gift cards... i've also been putting aside money from my "extra' job and from ebates, etc. but i've yet to see a Pin Code. i'm not sure what we will do if we aren't eligible for pin code or discount.

thanks for joining in!!

Your adrs are great:thumbsup2 I love all of the breakfasts that you are doing, they are probably my top character breakfast choices.

Mmmm, Ohana. That is my favorite Disney dinner. I wish I was coming on your trip.

We haven't tried HBD, the menu doesn't interest me much although I haven't looked at it recently. I can't wait to hear how it is with kids if you do go. I love the inside since it reminds me of I love Lucy. Love that show.

i'm with you.... i just have not heard much about HBD. there are things i woudl eat, but i would be just as comfortable at anywhere else. dh loves the nicer meals and atmosphere though. i had no idea it would remind me of I Love Lucy though!

i'm pretty happy with them, can't wait for a lot of my ADR's. chris made me ohana's dessert for my birthday but its so much better when you are actually there!!

i have a small hope that Be Our Guest will actually be open and i will be able to fit it in somewhere in our schedule.

and you are welcome to come along!!

:rotfl: Thank you! Well, since you saw my ADR thread, you know how much I like changing ADRs. I went ahead & cancelled our dinner ADR for our DHS day so that I can make sure we make Characterpalooza. I do enjoy getting to see a good bit of characters in one place. We'll just do a QS meal after that so I don't have to worry about being somewhere on time. I'm hoping to do Phineas & Ferb right when they open at 10am. We'll see how that works out. Of course, I could always change my mind before then. :lmao:

ADRs look great! A late Akershus ADR sounds perfect and Ohana will be fun, too. I wanted to watch Hallowishes after we ate at Ohana on our last trip, but we finished dinner too early and it seemed like too long to hang around waiting. Your ADR is later than ours was, though, so it should work out perfectly.

Can't wait to hear about the other extras!

I'm sure I will
change myomd a dozen times as well. In fact...

I really have to put priority into researching how following the FP time will affect us. and HOPEFULLY James will be 40"- but then we will lose a lot of the baby swap FP freedom. I imagine that we will still be in Pixar Place when P&F open

I can't believe I finally got DIS to let me log in! On my phone, but still! Hoping I can log in on. The computer soon!

Hi Kate! hope you and your sweet boys are boing well! I'm so excited! i just love the halloween party! We are hoping to have a bit more action this time at Ohana. Last time, Maya was sick and we didn't get a lei, let alone participate in the dancing and other fun.

ok, i finally had the big brain storm to change browsers and see if i could log in then.... yep, i can on ole explorer. and i have the multiquote button back!

i've been reading here and there some this week and have managed to make myself crazy. i have a feeling there are a few changes coming soon.... here are a few things to contemplate

1) i'm still not sure about Hollywood Brown Derby. I'm not against it, but it just hasn't grabbed me. If my husband was still excited about it, i'd be fine with it. but after a few conversations, i'm now thinking that he chose it because it was a signature in the park. i'm not sure he has even looked at the menu. So i printed that, Yachtsman, and Captain's for him to look at.

2) I didn't even think about the new fastpass time enforcement when scheduling these. i just made it with our old touring style in mind. i must admit, we were horders. Between that and baby swap, we often got multiple rides in without trying. James is on the brink of 40". While i'm excited to ride some new things with him, it was nice to have the time free fastpass in the form of a baby swap. i haven't formulated a plan with this in mind, but we may need to really utilize the slow morning hours if we are going to get in multiple rides. I just need to think it through a bit more.

3) i made the "special thing" (that i will discuss in a post following this one) on the same day as our party. Now i'm not too sure. more in a minute...

4) and i read a rumor that Spectro may be coming back. there are only a couple regualr parade days while we will be there, and i have planned to avoid them. i know that the crowds will be larger those days and we only have one full MK day as it is. But if Spectro is there, all bets are off. I could miss MSEP and not think twice about it.

Spectro....

oh, now i need to go watch it on youtube...

I'll be back in a second to elaborate on #3. :rotfl:

I know you all haven't been able to sleep- wondering what my special surprise is. :lmao:

well, it is none other than....

James wasn't old enough last trip- and just as importantly, they didn't have the mermaid package. I made this at 2:30 on our party day. i thought it was perfect timing as they should be done just in time to join in the pirate parade. Now i am second guessing my date though. i'm wondering if lunch, then pirates, then party will just be too much in one day for my kiddos. they have become earlier risers with school starting at 715, and therefore dont stay up as late.

but selfishly, i also second guess myself because i dont' want Maya to be a mermaid AGAIN for a halloween costume. She says she wants to be Rapunzel, and if i won't let her go barefoot then she *must* wear high heels (yeah right). of course, she doesn't know she'll be at PL. She got so much attention last party when she was dressed up (James was a lobster- closest thing to Sebastian i could find to fit a 9 month old-and she was Ariel). But there are no mermaid "outfits" at PL, and to be honest, we found out as Ariel that it's not all that easy to climb into a ride with a full "tail". So I'm unsure how to tie in a mermaid look to Rapunzel.

James actually said he wants to be a pirate-specifically Captain Hook- this year so that's going to work well if we do it party day. It woudn't surprise me if he chose the Jake makeover though.

I'm really excited to do this though! Any hints or stories abotu the PL you'd like to share?

***thank you Disney Parks Blog and Stitch Kingdom for the photos***

Pirate's League looks like so much fun! I think I'm going to book it on our Fantasy cruise next year for Reid. Are you & your husband dressing up for MNSSHP as well? Reid has insisted that we dress with him. I know it'll end up being fun but I dread trying to find a costume.

Oh yes, this new FP enforcement has played into some of my ADR strategy. Hopefully, it will work out okay.

We thought about doing Hollywood Brown Derby also. But, like you, I could never get overly excited about the place. Don't really know why. :confused3

I think i've just trained myself to expect dining to be more of an event at Disney, you know what i mean? Like it needs some gimmick or characters or something. Not that i haven't eaten at a regular meal before, but usually they are out of the parks. i dont know why i can't get into it.

i have not breeched the topic of costumes yet with DH... i have managed to sneak one or two Disney tees into the wardrobe which is better then before. I can gurantee that if James goes as Captain Hook, Chris WILL NOT be Peter Pan! it would be funy to see him in green tights though:rotfl2: Last time we went in October it was soooo hot. we always seem to go in above average temps, thats for sure. anyway, last time, i would have melted in a costume. i think if anything i'd prefer something costume-ish. like a set of accessories to turn a normal outfit into a costume, if that makes sense.

I'm following along and can't wait to hear more of your plans...

Your kids are ADORABLE. I bet DS is a heartbreaker.

Pirates League & the Mermaid package look like a blast...I really can't wait for my DD to be old enough.

Your ADR's look great - I envy you the preopening slot at Crystal Palace...I would have LOVED to get those pics. Also, Ohana - I bet the food will be delish. I figure most things served on skewers are a win.

I think PL looks like fun! Wonder if my DDs would like to do that...

Hmmm, I can't think of a way to tie a mermaid and Rapunzel together, either. What about doing PL for James and BBB for Maya? I know Rapunzel has a head full of hair, but I'm sure the costume would look just as cute with the fancy up-do from BBB.

thanks for the compliments on my babies!

Sorry to get ahold of your coveted ADR's. We had Ohana last trip, but it was unable to be fully enjoyed because my dd was sick and actually napped at the table. Yep, we were rude enough to let her do so! We also did the Crystal Palce pre-park opeing- but i won't share the details on that because i've yet to get to it in my TR. As for your trip, i say keep trying. I'm sure there will be cancellations closer to time. If nothing else, its an excuse to go back another time:lmao:

I'm so excited for Pirate's League. Ive been waiting for James to be old enough to do it. I don't think Maya would have been interested in it before the mermaid- but with that there is no doubt she'll love it. I've heard nothing but great comments from those who have experienced it. She did BBB last year, and with the shortened trip this year i'm really set on having them together for their special experience. I wouldn't want to schedule them at the same time and have to choose!

Worst case scenario, Maya has a regualr dressup dress that is colored and styled like rapunzel. she could still be rapunzel to trick or treat at home without having to buy any additional costume for her.

I heard that Merida from Brave will be placed where Rapunzel currently is. I wonder if that means that she is expected to draw large crowds as well? I was really hoping she'd have a Tiana sized crowd- i can handle her wait time!

Also, i want to throw my phone. For some reason, i have not been able to get a computer to recognize it for a LONG time. That means that it won't update, sync, or back up. And that means that i can't update Lines or download Mobile Magic. I've had IT look at it but have not drug myself into the Apple Store with two kids in tow yet. I'm ready to upgrade- but first have to get my pictures off. AT&T said to do so i could use Cloud- well, i'm one version older then Cloud. So my other option is to email myself the pictures individually. uh- i've got close to 2500 on there. I don't think so! So any bright ideas Apple Fans?

I also want to make a shameless plug and let you all who are nice enough to read here know that I have resumed my TR from our trip last May. :)

The mermaid package looks so cool at PL. I saw that on Lidian's TR last year and I am so glad they brought it back.

I can't to hear how the kids like it. It looks like fun

I was sooooo jealous that she did it last year. I am just stocked to do it!

I'm an Apple junkie ....

First of all, are you on WiFi at home?

Second, have you tried to manually force your phone into an update? (Which phone is it?)

I may be able to help you out if I know more about which version you're using. :thumbsup2

And if Maya wants to be Rapunzel and do TPL ... let her be a Mermaid-Rapunzel! I think that would be adorable! The face makeup is so pretty! You've already read my review and experience, so I'll spare the reposting. :lmao:

As far as the phone, its a 3G...
I have no idea if i have tried a manual update. I've basically done what IT told me and somehow managed to lose my music while i did. My last computer would not recognize my phone at all. This one will but won't recognize it as a camera. I can utilize WiFi or 3-G but not cloud. I get way too nervous that I'll screw something up to just push buttons and hope i'm doing the right thing. This phone is my third baby. thanks!!

I"d be open to letting her be a Mermaid Rapunzel if that is what she wanted. Its hard not telling them. I guess i could always take her Rapunzel-like dress and her mermaid costume and just let her choose that morning.

If you did end up doing Pirates League on a different day than MNSSHP, then it wouldn't matter as much if Maya was a mermaid for the Pirates League day and Rapunzel for the party. Of course, mermaid make up on Rapunzel would be fine, too.

I didn't know they had a Jake and the Neverland Pirates package. Landon would love to get a Jake makeover, but he's too young still.

I can't remember about the 3G for certain, but does it have the option to update your phone directly ON YOUR PHONE. To check, go to Settings, General and then my iphone has Software Update and even iTunes wifi Sync....
