Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

I can't remember about the 3G for certain, but does it have the option to update your phone directly ON YOUR PHONE. To check, go to Settings, General and then my iphone has Software Update and even iTunes wifi Sync....

tahnsk, no luck with this old thing, but thanks!

If you did end up doing Pirates League on a different day than MNSSHP, then it wouldn't matter as much if Maya was a mermaid for the Pirates League day and Rapunzel for the party. Of course, mermaid make up on Rapunzel would be fine, too.

I didn't know they had a Jake and the Neverland Pirates package. Landon would love to get a Jake makeover, but he's too young still.

I asked her last night... if momma learned to do mermaid makeup, would you want to be a mermaid for halloween. she said no, still rapunzel. in a way it would just make sense to change it. but our MK day is only 9-7. if i take a couple hours out of it to do pirates league, what if TP is wrong and the crowds are beastly? but you know, the crowds are supposed to be light on our party day too... we could do the park that afternoon when we would have been doing PL. i guess technically for the amount of time spent on each thing. so if i look at it that way then it would be how FP come into play.

Jake and the Mermaid are brand new- just came out last month. i bet they will still have them when Landon is old enough!

In the hustle of deciding this trip just days before ADR day, I realized I've neglected to tell you all where we were staying...

I thought I knew where we were going to stay on this trip before we even left for the last one. But now, even up to this day, i'm second guessing my choice. Its not that i don't think we will be happy where we chose. Its just that i think we would be just as happy in the others. So there where others in contention...

So before i tell you our final decision... I'll tell you which three made the cut.

CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT

Pros:
We had so much fun here last year. The pool was great, the beach was great. We had a wonderful room placement in relation to bus stop, food, main pool, and village pool. We really didn't have much to complain about here.

Cons:
We've already stayed here.

ART OF ANIMATION

Art_of_Animation-01.jpg

I've never been drawn to a value before- willing, but not drawn. This one sucks me in.

I do have to say, i think Disney missed the boat a little for dragging money out of guests. They have the Nemo and Lion King Family Suites. I consider both of these somewhat gender neutral. Then they have the (typically) boy favorite Cars family suites. And finally there are regular rooms in Little Mermaid theme. I would have made the regular rooms one of the more neutral themes, and done the feminine Little Mermaid Rooms as a suite. I would think that you may be able to drag some extra money out to upgrade a stay to the girly rooms.

At any rate, my second choice rooms for these would be Cars Suites.

And my first choice would be Little Mermaid.

My main reason for choosing Little Mermaid first would be as the kids get bigger, we will need more room i would imagine.

Pros:
brand new resort
great theming

Cons:
smaller rooms
will likely be here in the future

Our final option is...

Port Orleans Riverside

POR-Main-2004-0512_large.jpg

We've been interested in Port Orleans for a while, and the Royal Rooms really jumped our interest.

portroyalRoomc.jpg

Pros:
close to dtd/ boat option
scerene setting
queen beds

cons:
not sure i like the bus situation
the royal rooms are pretty far out

so which did we choose?

Well, I think I know the answer... pretty sure I read it on FB. But I won't say, in case I am wrong! ;)

If those were my choices, I think it'd be tough to choose between AoA and POR. My youngest and I watched a video on the AoA rooms and she is all over staying in a Lion King suite. POR is where DH and I are staying, though not in a Royal Room... I bet those are so pretty!

Coming over from facebook. I vote AOA, because it's new and pretty and I want to stay there and can't so I can live through you :rotfl:

We're planning MNSSHP on the 14th too!

I really liked the POR royal rooms I saw when looking for our resort and have bookmarked them for the future - I vote that one!

However, those AoA pics you posted (I haven't looked at this resort at all yet) and I must say for a Value, it looks really really really cool. That Little Mermaid room brought me back to sharing a room with my Sis and watching TLM on repeat.

p.s.-not sure if you have an extended warranty through apple for your phone, but a lot of the time if you do and they can't fix it, they just give you another one.

That's always the trouble I find, too. Not that any of the resorts aren't good, but that they all are and when you pick one, you're eliminating all the others. I really don't know which of the three resorts I'd pick. Tough choice!

Hmmmmm......which to choose? Which to choose? I would go for either AoA or POR. I tried to convince my son that we should stay in a Royal Room but he told me they were only for girls. :rotfl: I didn't even try mentioning the Little Mermaid Rooms. :rotfl2:

As far as the phone, its a 3G...
I have no idea if i have tried a manual update. I've basically done what IT told me and somehow managed to lose my music while i did. My last computer would not recognize my phone at all. This one will but won't recognize it as a camera. I can utilize WiFi or 3-G but not cloud. I get way too nervous that I'll screw something up to just push buttons and hope i'm doing the right thing. This phone is my third baby. thanks!!

I"d be open to letting her be a Mermaid Rapunzel if that is what she wanted. Its hard not telling them. I guess i could always take her Rapunzel-like dress and her mermaid costume and just let her choose that morning.

Okay, I found your issue. The 3G is no longer supported by Apple and hasn't had an update since 2010. You can't use the cloud on a 3G (but you can on a 3GS). As for why your iTunes isn't recognizing your phone ... that's a new one on me.

However, it kind of sounds like it may be an issue with your USB cable or the port -- not the phone itself. Have you tried a new USB cable or a different port on your PC?

Now, on to resort choices ... I'm voting one of the AoA rooms or PoR. :thumbsup2 Anxious to hear what you decide!

I think you know too. And it is definitely tough!!

welcome!!!

thanks for coming over. i posted on your PTR that we will be at DHS the same day as well

AOA does look sooo pretty. i just need a three week multi-split stay for all these awesome places!

Yes, my dilema exactly! so many great choices.

i dont have the extended warranty but i need to just go in there anyway. now the volume button fell off. I want to pass it down to the kids when i upgrade to use as an ipod touch. i've definitely got my money's worth out of this thing already though, that's for sure.

i knew i couldn't use the cloud, but i didn't realize it technically doesn't update it. everyone else at my office has 3gs or newer, so that explains why they had no clue (well, that's part of the explanation:rolleyes1)
Itunes does recognize the phone, just not as a camera so i can't get the pictures off. But what you've said makes so much sense, as i couldn't figure out why i was having this problem across multiple computers with multiple usb's.
you are so sweet and so helpful!

i think if i could get myself to pack everything in one backpack, i'd change resorts every time i came back from the parks!

Ha! yeah, you might be able to make the Royal Rooms a bit gender neutral- if you try to focus on the prince things. But i'm not sure you can pull that off in a girly seashell bed!

indeed it is!

I’m not sure why, but I am so tempted to be the odd one out and say CBR. Guess your other trip report is in my mind and how much fun you all had there the last time.

I’m not afraid to be wrong, so I guess I’ll say POR, since you all love DTD so much and it is easy to get to from there.

Now watch it will be revealed to be AofA :rotfl2:

I should say, I’m looking at both AofA and POR for a possibilities for our next trip after this one. It will either be a short trip in December or as the choice of a short resort stay after our cruise next summer. I’m not sure yet. Dd really wants to see the Christmas decorations again and so do I. I also don’t want to come right home after our cruise though.

We did have a ton of fun there last trip. Not a one of us would have a problem with going back there again.

I'm glad i dont have to make your choice! i'm not sure i would be able to decide between Christmas and post cruise!

It’s a tough choice for me. Prices are not available for WDW for 2013, but I have priced both resorts for December (15th-19th) and staying at AofA in a Little Mermaid room would be significantly cheaper than staying at POR. I’m not looking at a Royal Room at POR, but would want a King sized bed. I’m hoping to be able to choose a king sized bed at AofA, but I guess it is a request you make in a comment or something because it didn’t come up in the list of choices. It’s just noted as available. I’d rather share a king size bed with both children than share a double with one of them.

I priced both with the quick service dining plan and base tickets. I don’t want to go with no dining plan. I spent 1 day at MK last October and we did two meals (lunch and dinner) and it was painful paying OOP. I think for 4 days we can do all QS though and don’t need any ADRs to deal with. We’ll have our share on this trip anyway. It was exactly $400 cheaper to do AofA. So, I’m guessing no matter when we go we’ll do AofA.

It’s going to come down to December airfare. Next year, we’ll already be in Orlando anyway, but going in December would mean a separate trip down there. Since our cruise leaves on a Sunday afternoon and returns on a Thursday morning, if we go to WDW in December, I’ll drive us down for our cruise (leave Friday after work or Saturday morning at o’ dark-thirty and stop overnight at a hotel along the way), then do a couple of half days at Sea World days after the cruise is over and leave Orlando Saturday to come home.

It's also going to come down to where dd ends up going to school this fall. She's got some challenges that mean we may be switching to public school or going to a more expensive private one, I'm not sure yet. We've had a heck of a year. I'm really looking foward to the trip we have coming up. BTW, I finally added the pictures to my PTR.

Joining in!! Your kiddos are adorable and your plans look like so much fun.

All three resorts look awesome. Picking a resort is so hard. Especially hard when you stayed at one before and enjoyed it because you are torn between wanting to try something new and wanting the security of knowing your family will have a good time. Never stayed at any of these resorts but did stay at POFQ and love the relaxed feeling of that resort and being near DTD. However with CBR it is like getting two vacations in one. You get the tropical feel with the theme park experience. I can't wait to learn what your decision is.

you are right, it would be nice to have the security of the familiar. and that is a bonus with POR, and with CBR- they are different enough form the parks and relaxing. decision coming soon:)

i have a feeling december airfare wont be a big bargain...

I totally agree!!!!! I also think that Nemo was a mistake, since they already feature that at CBR, right?

Me too!

I had this same fight with myself about our next trip!:headache: It's so hard to decide!!

Ooooh Subbing! Just found you and I'm all caught up! Can't wait to hear where you chose, I'm thinking "royally"! ;)

We just went with the whole family in January and my husband and I just booked this morning for a little 3 night getaway in early November, so I went searching for PTR's for October/November and found you! :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed our last Oct/Nov trip, and can't wait for this one! I'm somewhat jealous of your little getaway!

It is really hard to decide!

I guess you could say that Nemo is featured at CBR. He's on the wall border, the bedspread. He'd be easy to get rid of. I didn't think it had been that long since they put Nemo at CBR- but they are the last full beds right? Makes me wonder what they have planned for it next. i wonder if that nemo is on the way out sooner than later?
