Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

Joining in! We're also going in October. Your kids are cuties! Pirates League looks so fun; can't wait to do that when my DS gets older.

We thought about doing AofA but decided to go with POFQ this time. My husband thought AofA looked a bit too "colorful and wild" :lmao:. I guess he wants to "un-Disney" as much as possible when relaxing back in the room. :confused3 I could be surrounded by it 24/7! But I am looking forward to a more laid-back atmosphere.

Can't wait to see where you decided to stay!

I'm enjoying your PTR. I love reading PTR that our close to my dates so I can see how others are planning!
James and Maya are just beautiful children! :goodvibes
I'm anxious to see where you chose. I would chose AoA or PORS.
We are staying at POFQ & I'm looking fwd to taking the boat to DTD one day.
AoA will be brand new so I think that gives it a big plus!

Like I said, a hard choice. What i'd really like to do is take an additional trip this year and hit all the hotels. But since i have yet to sell DH on that idea, we had to choose just one.

We did not choose CBR. We loved it, and would gladly go back, even to the same room. But we want to experience some other hotels first.

We also did not choose Art of Animation. It looks like such a fun place! But between the fact that we hope to expand our family soon and that we hope to bargain travel with friends and family on our next trip, we figure we will definitely be here soon enough. Plus, Chris just doesn't seem to be that interested in it.

So that of course leaves us staying at

PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE ROYAL ROOMS!

I can't say i'm disappointed. I've been looking forward to these lounging in these rooms since i first saw a flyer. Also, i'm not really crazy on adding a lot of extra expense for the room, so the added nightly charges won't be as high on a shorter trip.

I'm sorry, i had a nice post typed up and lost it!

Anyway, look at some of the detail in these Royal Rooms!

We are also looking forward to being near DTD

Hopefully we will see what YeeHaw Bob is all about.

We hope to spend some time on the fishing dock.

One word. Beignets.

Oh- And that second surprise i booked back with my ADR's- a carriage ride around the grounds- something Maya has always asked to do.

The only thing that bothers me about here is the Bus Situation. I admit, i haven't studied this much yet. I didn't want it to determine my mind. But i'd venture to guess the reason the Royal Rooms are where they are is that no one was wanting to be the last stop and so far away from the Main Areas. That is what seemed to happen at CBR with the Pirate rooms too.

So, are there any Port Orleans tips, hints, or preferences to share with us?

welcome!!

i could see my husband saying the same thing. and in a way, i like that too. sort of like a double vacation when the resort is so different from the parks!

thanks for the compliments Amy! it was a hard decision but i just announced it!

POR ROYAL ROOM! :dance3:

I'm officially jealous! :rotfl2: I wanted to stay in one of those but my little boy wouldn't have it - said they're only for girls. :sad2:

We'll be trying out POFQ for the 1st time (just the first 2 nights) on our trip this year.

That carriage ride is such a nice idea! :thumbsup2

As hard as i try to spin it, our resort is a bit girly. We can stay in a cars suite later to make it up, but i need something masculine for this trip.

So after we check in to our glorious princess filled room, we'll head over to Downtown Disney and hopefully, if i go with the flight i think i will, grab a sandwich at Earl's. Then we will need dessert of course. We will have it here...

If, for some reason, we get in later, we can just eat a late meal here as well. I'd rathr keep it short and sweet with dessert though. I'm thinking its a tad bit noisy in here!

( I haven't changed any other ADR's yet.)

I think that's a good plan with TRex. And yes, it's definitely more manly! :rotfl:

Sorry! Sounds like a reson to schedule an adults only trip in the future:goodvibes

I think POFQ & POR are going to be beautiful! I can't wait to see them.

In one of my random Disney discussions that we have almost daily, i asked Maya where she wanted to stay on our next trip. At first she said CBR- because of the beach. But once she heard there were carriage rides at "Tiana's place", she was all over it!

Yay! I was hoping you'd opt for POR - those rooms look soooooo fun, and I am looking forward to DTD almost as much as MK...I LOVE a good food venue.

good! Dinos are a favorite in our house anyway, so it will be a well liked event i hope.

I can't wait to see the rooms in person!

I love DTD. I could spend all day there. Eat. Shop. Eat. Shop. Repeat.

Yay! The suspense was getting to me. :rotfl2:

ha! wasn't trying to be suspenseful. To be honest, i didn't even get on a real computer this weekend. i checked my phone a few times and that was it. For some reason, i ended up waiting until after J's birthday to clean out/ donate/ rearrange etc all the gifts from that and Christmas. i usually at least clean out and donate before the new stuff comes in. anyway, i got in the middle of that project when the weather switched and we needed summer clothes last month. So i got in the middle of getting summer out/ putting winter up. I was sick of looking at all the half completed stuff cluttering up the kids rooms so i took advantage of an empty schedule this weekend and got a much better handle on it.

I guess you could say that Nemo is featured at CBR. He's on the wall border, the bedspread. He'd be easy to get rid of. I didn't think it had been that long since they put Nemo at CBR- but they are the last full beds right? Makes me wonder what they have planned for it next. i wonder if that nemo is on the way out sooner than later?

Ooh… I don't think I realized that. I bet they will be getting rid of the Nemo rooms then. Hmm. I assume that they will do something "boy" themed, since they just did the Royal Rooms over a POR.

Sorry! Bedtime had me distracted and I didn't remember to say YIPPEE!!! for the royal rooms!:banana::banana:

I don't have any POR tips or info as this will be our 1st time there. I can't wait to check out the resort. I think I mentioned this, but we did not request a Royal Room... I'd love to see one in person! I love all the little details. I think Aladdin's lamp as the sink faucet is my favorite.

One word. Beignets.

portorleansbeignets.jpg

Oh, yeah. We will be making a walk over to POFQ for these babies!

Oh- And that second surprise i booked back with my ADR's- a carriage ride around the grounds- something Maya has always asked to do.

Do you know if these rides have to be booked? Or can one just "walk up"? I'd love to do one, but the only day we would have time is on our arrival night... and I have no idea what time we'll get there.

Congrats on the resort choice. The Royal rooms look so pretty.
We are going to try to make one of Yee Haa Bobs show too.
That T-Rex dessert looks pretty cool! I've never seen that before.

I googled and they just put the nemo stuff in CBR at the end of 08. I knew it hadn't been too long. I can't remember how long they go between refurbs.
They do have the pirate rooms there though.

I'm so excited! It feels so fancy for a mod!

Oooooooh, thanks for the picture of the Beignets!! Brilliant! I love them at the original Cafe du Monde in New Orleans - can't wait to see how they compare at POFQ! Even more excited now! :woohoo:

The POR Royal rooms look awesome!

we overlap right? Maybe you can stop by and see our room before we destroy it. I can't wait to find all the little extras in the decor.

I know that you can book them, I think it's from 5:30 to 9. I'm not sure how busy they are to know how walkups work. Sorry- not much help I know

thanks! To be honest, I don't know much about yee haw bob. Other than how highly he seems to be recommended. What do you know about him?

The dessert is huge and has carbon dioxide or something like that to make it smoke. The kids will get a big kick out of it!
