Mexican Riviera Cruise with WONDERful Souvenir in the Works! 6/7 PTR Link!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work! :worship: I am thoroughly enjoying your trip report and, if it is possible, I am getting even more excited for our cruise in February.

Hello,
really enjoying the tr. We sail to the MR in April.
I saw a Pic of the cigars, is there a place to enjoy cigars on the wonder?
a cigar lounge perhaps?

Also just noticed you did the Outdoor adventure in PV We are too, can't wait to see the rest of your report

Great trip report!!! Can't believe I missed it earlier.

So, here is really dumb question but for the door magnets do you print them directly on magnets or special paper? I'm definitely making one for our next cruise.

I love all the pictures. Almost tempting me to book another cruise before Disney leaves Mexico.

I guess, it would help if I read the instructions on the magnet page. LOL...

The tequila tasting sounds awesome! I really want to do one but if the one on the Dream is they way you described, I'm not sure I will... Definitely sounds like it's worth the $$ though!

P.S. I have that Mickey t-shirt you wore to the character breakfast! Great minds :cool1:

Don't you LOVE Target! Got that shirt for under 10 bucks!

Too funny the keyboardist kept catching you!

Parrot Cay looks so cute, so many people say that's their least favorite restaurant.

I know, that's what I hear too! The theming is really cute though, so I don't know why people wouldn't like it :confused3

Hello, We are going Mexican Reviera on Disney this month and this is our 1st time Disney cruise. Could you please give us update info about side tours in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta? We haven't book any tours yet but want to know which one is good one.

Thanks.

We didn't do any tours in Cabo but I will tell you that if you're looking into seeing a beach, don't book any tours through Disney. Instead, get off the ship and look for a water taxi or taxi to take you to a specific beach, like lovers beach or medano beach. It will be WAY cheaper than booking a tour through Disney. As for Puerto Vallarta, we did the Outdoor Adventure excursion....WORTH EVERY PENNY! That update is coming up!

You guys got such cute hats! I've been reading a few other TRs, and I've seen some pretty whacky hats. I especially like Daniel's, he looks like Peter Pan! :lmao:

There was some CRAZY hats going on in that room. In fact, someone was wearing a turban-thing and we asked the waiter what that was supposed to resemble and he had no idea :lmao: He had never seen that one before. It was fun.

The tastings sound like they were a lot of fun. We only did the martini tasting, on an empty stomach as well, and had so much fun. I love how they have the character breakfast on your cruise. They didn't have this when I went on the Wonder any of the times I went. I would have loved to do this. It is possible I didn't know about it though. :confused3

I saw pictures of the martini tasting when we got home, and I was SO mad that we didn't do that. That's something i'll be doing on our next cruise for sure.

I think the cruise has to be 7 nights or longer to get the character breakfast, because we didn't have that option on our 5 night in June.

OMG, I think even with food in my belly I wouldn't be able to walk after having 3 shots of taquilla and 2 mararitas. That being said, I am so doing this tasting when I'm on board in less than 2 weeks!!!!!

:yay::rotfl: You will love it!

You are such a beautiful couple, but the Giants gear ruins it. Can I buy him a Sharks sweater, or if he doesnt watch hockey, a Cubs shirt?

Kidding....kinda :rolleyes1

Thank you for the wonderful reports, I feel like I am there with you! :surfweb:

Uh-oh. Thank goodness I'm not wearing my Giants gear on this cruise. You would probably hate me :lmao: Actually, I grew up watching both the Cubs and the Giants. Have mad respect for the Cubs.:hippie: So you can buy me a Cubs shirt! :yay:

I am loving your trip report.

Do you remember if you ever had to adjust your clocks on the cruise? I'm trying to figure out the difference between ship time and local time for our stop in Puerto Vallarta next month.

Please let me know if you remember.

Thanks!

Oops sorry about that. Yes on the second night they put a card on your bed with the Navigator telling you to move your clocks forward by one hour. They tell you to remain on ship time when you get off at PV so keep your watch with ship time, and you'll be fine.

Wonderful updates :goodvibes

A quick question for you, how do you sign up for the tasting events?

I'd really like to try one (or two :rolleyes1) on our May cruise, do you just find out about them on the Navigator and sign up the night before somewhere?

Also, I love the picture of you and DH on formal night, you make a very cute couple

To sign up for the tasting seminars, you go to Guest Services and they'll give you little tickets that you take with you to the tastings. The tastings will be in the Navigator the night before, so the next morning is when you would head to Guest Services to sign up. :thumbsup2

Ok, so I am trying to figure out the title of this thread, did you say a souvenir is in the works....like in this video...ahem

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHrSX0gHX_8

:rotfl: How old is this commercial?!? I remember seeing this a LOOOONG time ago! And Yep! You are correct!

Your formal nite photo is terrific. You picked a winner:goodvibes Thanks for posting the Navigators..we're doing an 8night out of NYC in June and I have to think that many of the activities will be similar.

That 8 night is going to be amazing! So jealous!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work! :worship: I am thoroughly enjoying your trip report and, if it is possible, I am getting even more excited for our cruise in February.

Yay! If there's any questions you have please feel free to ask! :goodvibes

Hello,

I saw a Pic of the cigars, is there a place to enjoy cigars on the wonder?

DH didn't get a chance to smoke on the Wonder but there are places you can smoke. Here's a link for you

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faqs/health-safety/smoking/

On the Dream, my DH and brother were able to smoke at a few more places than on the Wonder. Hope this helps!

Also just noticed you did the Outdoor adventure in PV We are too, can't wait to see the rest of your report

OH MY GOSH! This was the BEST money ever spent! Getting to that update here pretty shortly :woohoo:

Great trip report!!! Can't believe I missed it earlier.

So, here is really dumb question but for the door magnets do you print them directly on magnets or special paper? I'm definitely making one for our next cruise.

I love all the pictures. Almost tempting me to book another cruise before Disney leaves Mexico.

There is magnet paper you can buy where you print your images directly to it. What I did though is print my images on that thick cardstock paper, then went to target and bought contact paper (next to the shelf lining section) and put it on the cardstock paper and cut the image out. I then bought two types of magnets - the sticky magnets where it has glue already on it, and round magnets where you super glue them on. Honestly, the round magnets where I had to super glue them myself worked the best. Hope that helps! It was so fun making them, i'll definitely make them again for our next cruise!

You will NOT believe this...on Thursday, my cold took a turn for the worse and I actually had a horrible fever and chills on Thursday night. What the heck is wrong with me?!? :rotfl: Anyways, we had to go to LA for a funeral on Friday and came back Saturday evening and was busy catching up with laundry. Today I worked on my TR and am so excited to get to my favorite part of the trip. :woohoo:

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is so awesome, got on the ship as two, came off as a family of three! I guess your future trip reports will include the kids club, right?

Thank you for the wonderful trip reports, you are a beautiful couple! What a great way to start a family!

I left us leaving from our Character breakfast...

But a few more pictures on our way out.

A picture of one of the signs that helps you find your way around

DSC00147.jpg

And a horrible picture of me in front of a large porthole

DSC00148.jpg

We stepped outside really quick before going down to our room and it felt GREAT outside! The sun was out and it was warm. It was finally time to put our swimsuits on! Back to the stateroom we went and changed into our swim gear, made some cocktails and headed out into the warm sun.

It wasn’t too busy outside so getting a lounger wasn’t difficult at all. By the time I was done drinking my vodka-ginger ale, it was time for another drink. Today’s DOTD was the Tequila Sunrise.

DSC00150.jpg

We ended up spending close to 4 hours outside in the sun/pool, meeting and talking to people. We also spent a lot of time going back and forth making drinks for us and for some of the people we were hanging out with. I’m SO glad we ended up buying the large bottle of Vodka from Costco.

At 4:15 we decided to finally get out and grab some food (we hadn’t eaten since breakfast) to take back with us to our stateroom while we got ready for our spa treatment at 5:45.

DSC00151.jpg

Chicken caesar wrap and ham and mozzarella sandwiches.

We each took a shower and this is when I realized…I’m sunburnt! I totally forgot to put on sunscreen and now I get to go to a treatment in which they rub my burnt skin. Great.

I thought we should leave a little early to the treatment to see if they would take us earlier. They ended up taking us about 10 minutes earlier which was nice. They lead you into your respective changing room area and have you put your things in a locker. They give you a big robe and ask you to wait in the loungers and they would come and get you. I was sitting in the lounger for about 2 minutes before I was called. I met Dh in the hallway and he looked so cute in the robe! They led us to the couples massage room and had us each lay down on the beds. The treatment we were receiving was: A full body massage, scalp massage, foot and ankle massage, and a mini facial for 75 minutes. Now, I don’t remember much because it was so relaxing and I fell asleep for a little bit. But I do remember the facial. Some of the masks she was putting on were stinging. That’s what I get for not wearing sunscreen. So my tip is: Don’t forget the sunscreen! And don’t be in the sun all day if you’re expecting to have a spa treatment.

After the treatment was over, the spa therapists talked about our skin and what products we should buy if we want to improve the appearance of our skin. I’ve read that you can ask to skip this part, but I completely forgot. It’s difficult trying to pay attention to someone when you’re still half asleep. Tip: If you know you’re not going to buy any products, ask to skip the product sales talk when you make the appointment. We headed back to the changing rooms to get changed and headed back down to our room to get ready for dinner. It was about 7:15 so we needed to hurry.

Luckily, we got dressed in no time and off we went to Parrot Cay. Some of the Captains Crew was standing in the lobby area so I took a picture with them.

IMG_3625.jpg

And we took a nice Photopass picture in front of the tree

ChristmasPic2011-1.jpg

Then it was dinnertime!

IMG_3626.jpg

IMG_3627.jpg

IMG_3628.jpg

And we ordered a LOT of food tonight.

Starting with my appetizers:

Island-spiced Seared Ahi Tuna – marinated in a Yuzu, Soy, and Ginger Dressing served with fragrant mushrooms and Fire-toasted Cuban Bread

IMG_3630.jpg

And a West Indies Romaine Salad – fresh crisp romaine tossed with a creamy Romano Dressing topped with West Indies spice-dusted croutons.

IMG_3631.jpg

Wow. Both were SO good and refreshing. The dressing on that salad was magnificent. I remember at least two others at our table enjoyed the salad too.

Dh’s appetizers:

Baked Crab Dip Martinique – Jumbo Lump Crab baked in creamy Cheese Sauce served with colorful Tortilla and Plantain chips

IMG_3629.jpg

And Cream of Green Asparagus Soup – with crabmeat and asparagus tips

IMG_3632.jpg

The dip was very good and I wasn’t a fan of the soup. Although DH liked it very much.

For entrees, I ordered:

Pan-seared Grouper – with Baby Shrimp in Lemon Butter served with a Saffron-Herb Basmati Rice and Snow Peas

IMG_3635.jpg

Mmm. This was tasty. The saffron was really subtle.

DH ordered TWO entrees:

Glazed Portobello Mushrooms – with Brown Lentil and Parsley Sauce and Sun-dried Tomato Cream Drizzle

IMG_3633.jpg

And the Braised Jerk-Seasoned Pork Chop – slowbraised pork chop served with a warm curried peach relish and cornmeal cakes.

IMG_3634.jpg

The mushroom dish was not good he said. It tasted very bland. But the pork chops were excellent.

Onto Dessert!

IMG_3636.jpg

IMG_3637.jpg

One of the guys at our table didn’t want anything for dessert, so this is what he got

IMG_3638.jpg

DH wasn’t feeling dessert either, but he had seen a kid order a mickey head so he got this

IMG_3639.jpg

And you all know me. I won’t EVER skip out on dessert so I ordered the Crème Brulee Cheesecake – Triple layer baked cheesecake topped with burnt sugar crust.

IMG_3640.jpg

Oh man, this was delicious!

We were stuffed from our dinner and wanted to relax but I really wanted to go to Wavebands and watch Bronkar Lee who does Beatbox Comedy. So we went back to the stateroom for more drinks and headed to Wavebands. He was awesome! Definitely recommend seeing him. After the skit, they put country music/dancing on and that was our queue to leave. We hate country music. Back to the stateroom we went and we found this on our bed.

Tomorrow, was going to be the best part of the trip!

Great update. Glad you were able to enjoy your spa treatment even with the sunburn. I burn so easily. I hate it. We hate country music also. We were staying at a hotel once and we were a little tipsy, ok maybe a lot, because they had country line dancing or whatever it was called and we had so much fun. I don't think the people were too happy though because apparently they take it soooooo seriously and don't like when people don't know what they are doing. Whatever...haha We had a good time.

Loving your T.R! You guys seem like a great couple! Kind of like my husband and I! We love to travel and spend time together, exp. with family, but its always nice to get off alone! We are actually planning on going to Mexico in April with almost all my husbands family, should be fun!?! lol also see you are Packer fans! Its awesome to see there are fans across county! I gave my husband, my dad and my two brothers packer tickers for christmas to the New Years day game against Det. We are die hard fans here so please keep the faith about the super bowl!!! :woohoo

This is when we were at Disney in Nov for a 2 week land/B2B Cruise Vacation!

I hope you're feeling better! You've had a bad break with all these colds one after the other.

What a nice relaxing day.

Your dress is so cute! Glad you were able to do a spa treatment. Was it worth it? The prices just look so expensive I'm on the fence about doing anything.

Thank you for the wonderful trip reports, you are a beautiful couple! What a great way to start a family!

Yep! I'm thinking any trip reports from here on out will include a child...at least I hope so! :worship:

Thanks for the kind words :goodvibes

No kidding! There's a place about an hour from us that is a restaurant/venue and it only plays country music (called Buck Owens Crystal Palace after the famous Buck Owens). Anyway, it was DH's nieces birthday and she chose this place and we had a fun time. We even line-danced WITHOUT alcohol and if you didn't know what you were doing, you were practically pushed off the floor.

YES! PACKERS FANS!:yay::dance3: There was a ton of GB fans on the cruise so it was nice to see a lot of people wearing jerseys. Your son is ADORABLE! :cutie:

Hope you have a great time with your hubby's family!

Gotta say, i'm a little concerned for the playoff game this weekend...playing the NY Giants since we almost lost against them...:scared:

I'm feeling so much better today, thanks for asking Pam!

Had we paid for each individual treatment and not doing the package, it would have been WAY too expensive. I think the specials that come out in the Navigators are great deals, so to me it was worth it. Next time, I won't be out in the sun though :rotfl:

HAHA That is what they did to us. We got the dirtiest looks. We didn't care though. I was like you guys need to loosen up and have a good time.

I just found your TR and I am absolutely enthralled! Very well done!

My wife and I are doing the MR in April, and I am soaking up any and all information that I can!
