Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Good morning ladies.

kmores you sure did alot of reading yesterday. It's so nice to have you here. When I see your user name I automatically think of smores. I guess I always have food on the brain.

good morning ladies and gents! have a slight migraine this AM ... ouch

Well I only read the last 10 pages or so but I wanted to say HI and let everyone know that I am a fellow Louisianaian. I am originally from Denham Springs, LA and now live in Slidell! We leave for Disney on 12 days and plan to go back Mardi Gras 09. That will be my first trip that is NOT in the summer. Glad to meet you all!

Hi everybody! Long time no chat! I really didn't think it would take me this long to get back into the groove from our week at Disney.

We had a great time. I'm sure as Sheryl has heard, the end of May was a super time to be there. (Actually Sheryl, one afternoon I could've sworn I saw Alexis & family on the down ramp of a monorail station just as we were boarding.)

This will definitely go down as one of our most successful vacations to date. The boys were excited as both were tall enough to ride coasters they previously couldn't, and we got to do Toy Story Mania multiple times with NO LINES! This was our 1st trip sans-strollers, and the boys didn't bicker at all. Boy, did that make for a pleasant trip! Of course the Grey Goose slushies in Epcot didn't hurt, either! (shout out to Kathy & friends on the restaurant review board for that one)

I was hoping to come here and find out one of you was LA's newest Lottery millionaire when I heard the ticket was purchased on the West Bank! So how often do you Westbankers pass that station on Terry Parkway???? Kicking yourselves, yet?? ;)

Glad y'all had a great trip! That's great that your boys did well without the strollers! Yes, Alexis & family were so excited not to see crowds! Chris said it was the lightest crowds she's seen in years.

Hope you're feeling better.

Kathy, Sorry it wasn't you!! It wasn't me either! :( When I was still working I'd pass there several times a day. I've bought my share of lottery tickets from there!

Imitrex is a Godsend! :worship: I couldn't have made it without it....hard to work when wanting to worship the porcelain god ...'nuff said there.

I complain a lot too....I try to be positive and I also minimize how bad stuff is (hello we have been through the big K). I feel like "I have a bad day once in a while but sometimes they hit me all at one time"!

I *SO* want to jump in my car and go to Disney. Except for 1) no money 2) 12 hour drive 3) no money 4) too hot 5) no money .... can't wait till they do that virtual stuff so I can pretend I am there!

You guys are so nice!! (we are from Louisiana, of course we are nice! LOL!) Yes I am almost packed 12 days out. Dh thinks I am a lunatic. He is a HS softball coach and he has been doing a summer league this week and next and leaving me here alone to obsess about Disney! I have a 7 year old who loves it as much as I do though. Anyone giong to be there when we are? (June 15-25??) If not, I would love to see someone at Mardi Gras time in the World.

Love your Saints avatar, Shovan!!

Hey y'all!

So we got a Wii Fit and it is kicking my butt! I wanna be skinny for Mickey when we go in September! (where's that sexy skinny smilie?:rotfl: ) I hope I can keep it up with doing the exercises- it is a much better than alternative of my morning walks in the blazing heat. :scared: Doesn't it seem like it got really hot really quickly this year? (I hope that doesn't mean a more active hurricane season! :scared1: )

:welcome: kmores and SnowWhite607! I hope I haven't posted anything too embarrassing! If I did, oh well...I like to keep it real...:cool2: I also like to complain and talk a lot about my kid- what can I say, she's time consuming! Also, please excuse any spelling or grammatical errors. I swear I am an educated woman, but often suffer from CRT and general overall brain fog.

Lori (BeadPirate)- We weren't at the airport anytime soon, but it's good to know I have an evil doppelganger roaming around!

Lori- Sounds like y'all had a fun outing down here! We're going to the Insectarium this weekend by way of the streetcar- I'll have to let y'all know how the Insectarium is.

Stephanie- As always, great cakes! I love the hippo one as well! DH laughs at me because I love hippos, reminding me that they are one of the most dangerous mammals out there- spoilsport!

I hope Mary and Terry are having a blast! I only have 94 days to go! :bitelip:

can I hire you to pack for my trip???!!! I am usually cramming stuff in on the way to the airport! I am SO thinking about going for Mardi Gras - seems like all of LA goes then so it is still crowded...maybe the Friday before though -- the school always has a parade so it is a wash as far as work goes....

nest part is - dd's school has a "project" where they go to WDW in April when they are in 4th grade. they get to go early and do "centrifugal force of the roller coasters" or something. I am just like WOO HOO a REASON to go to Disney (uh as if I need one...;))

thanks for the welcome! oh - my name is Kristina.

Ms. Marigny - I want to try that Wii fit - is that separate from a regular Wii or an add-on/game? and yes - when did it go from cool to HECK? I can't handle above 85 degrees....hey - I go from my air conditioned house to my A/C car to my A/C work to my A/C store to my A/C church to my A/C shopping places.... I am an indoor baby!!!

and Ms. M - don't worry about the complaining...I am real too...I think that's what's cool about this thread! real life is weird sometimes. It's just me, dh and dd. mom and dad died young (yesterday would have been mom's 64th b'day), sis lives in BR and brother in Calif....so kind of nice to find gals with similar interests. wish I would have joined earlier last week so I could have gone to Sex & the City with you guys! and I read finger flubs and make em often (typos!). besides, spelling and punctuation are SO overrated!

oh and I forget things easy and tell the same story over and over...:worried: oh well!

I was thinking about getting tix for insectarium....ooh when are you going? dd has never been on a streetcar (I'm a bad bad mama!) watched Channel 4 @ insectarium but still not sure I can do the roach one....we have been just overrun with mice and rats and roaches and big fat hairy caterpillars and ...hey  - maybe I should just sell tix to my house....maybe I could raise Disney $$ that way!!!

and Stephanie - any time you need someone to sample a cake....I'm your gal!!! :lovestruc I could eat fondant and buttercream frosting all day. course, kind of messes with that desire to lose weight....

The Wii Fit is an add on game that comes with a balance board that you need to use that acts as a scale so it can measure your progress. It is soo cool! When I stepped onto the scale though, it gave me a fat little Mii! :worried: I wanna make that Mii skinny! What I love about it is that it gives you a variety of workouts- aerobics (including running, which I love), yoga, strength training, and balance games. You can mix and match what you like to do. In the days long ago before I had DD, I used to do yoga and pilates, so I like doing the yoga as well. Only problem with the Fit now is that it is sold out everywhere! I had to get mine for premium $$ on ebay.

My father and sister both died a few years ago and my mother has been estranged for a long time now, so it's just me, DH and DD. We do see my MIL and SIL a bit though- they live on the Westbank.

We can't wait for the Insectarium (yes we're dorks)! DH LOVES bugs -there is no bug exterminating or squishing in this house, or pesticides anywhere outside either. All bugs found inside are safely escorted outside. :hippie: Except for roaches and mosquitoes- those are fair game. We also have two pet tarantulas. :upsidedow Everyone scared yet?

eww on the bugs....cool on the Wii!! just another reason I can justify buying a Wii (but honey, I wouldn't have to get a sitter to go to the gym...and think of all the gas I'll save!) we got a lot in common. I have a lot in common with several of the ladies here (kinda neat!) woo hoo! don't know if any more advance tix still available...

Hillary is conceding the nomination/race....

Impressive packing! You can come do mine for me too!

So you want to be a Skinnie Minnie for Mickey!;) :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!

I have to second your comment on the edumacation! If I'm judged on my posting, they'll swear all us Southerners are illiterate Cajuns!

We can't wait for the Insectarium (yes we're dorks)! DH LOVES bugs -there is no bug exterminating or squishing in this house, or pesticides anywhere outside either. I'm not a fan of bugs. But we found a little green turtle in the swimming pool again last week. It seems to be an annual thing now. So I was thrilled to feed him the half-dead sand fly that was biting on my leg last night. I grabbed a little cricket for her today, Alexis wouldn't touch it! I was shocked only a couple of months ago, she thought my fear was hilarious!
