Mary have fun. Do you think you'll be able to sleep tonight? I never can before vacation.

Terry I think I already missed you. I hope you all have a great trip too.

Hey, well no go for WDW in Sept for us:stir: I tried every way I could to be able to do TOO much come fall.

We already are going to Foley(me and my mom) in Sept for our annual weekend trip together.

Then, me and the kids are taking a train to Atlanta in October($200 RT for 3 of us!!!) then renting a car-we will se my childhood friend there and try to get to American Girl Bistro while there-then head to Maryville , Tennesee, to stay with my cousin and her boys. We are planning to do Wonderworks in Pigeon Forge and spend the rest of our days hiking to waterfalls and picnicing a lot! We are going when the leaves will be changing colors.

I checked into trains to Orlando- VERY expensive! And long. Don't know why it is so much cheaper for Atlanta.;)

We spent all of Friday in New Orleans. We had a wonderful tour of the Port and saw some wonderful historical documents from 1900-1910-handwritten of the meetings that documented when and how and how much it cost to build out port-one entry had $.65 for gas and the electricity bill for the month was $2.65!!
The books are beautiful handwritten and reminded us of National Treasure. My friend is an archivist at the Port of N.O.

Then we went to the Aquarium, which the updates are AWESOME! We went to the IMAX to see "Hurricane on the Bayou"-which we really did not need to see:( but went with our N.O. history day. Then we took the streetcars to Cannons on St Charles. It was our kids first time on the streetcars, which the renamed, "Charlies", b/c Ash kept calling them trolleys and the other kids thought she was saying "Charlie". I told her we called them streetcars, San Francisco calls them trolleys. Anyway, they are now "Charlies" in our home!!:goodvibes

I will post some pics when I get them downloaded. We had a blast. The only part I did NOT like was getting to our car after dark on a Friday night. My DH made me call him at each interchange till we got into our car and headed home!!:worried:

Lori

Hi gals!! Boy did I have a busy weekend. I made 4 cakes which altogether could feed over 300 people! Here are some pics with descriptions!
this was for our Homeschool Organization's promotion ceremony. I made this one and the another exactly like it. I donated the cakes. The cake is Vanilla, and the icing is my special butter cream.

This is a cheese cake stuffed red velvet cake, with cream cheese icing. My Nanny wanted one after she ate the Mother's day cupcake I made her.

This is the big one!!! My 12 y/o cousin wanted a Hippo cake for her birthday.

The base is Funfetti cake with my special butter cream, the Hippo is vanilla cake with fondant!

Awesome job on the cakes. They are beautiful. I love red velvet cake and cheese cake but never had that combo together. I'd love to try it!

Lori it sounds like you had a great day in NO. I haven't ridden the street cars in years. I love going down St. Charles Avenue and looking at all the pretty homes.

Happy Monday!

OH MY .. that hippo cake is too flipping cute for words!

Looks like I wont be getting much sleep the next two nights as ill be trying to keep the love birds in their own bedrooms. Maybe ill put Brad in the backyard in a tent :rotfl:

I live in "Metry" on the Kenner line across from Chuck E. Cheese...we own a DJ business so DH plays a lot on WB and down in Lafitte (swamp music ROCKS!) We also have a karate school in Chalmette (yeah we run around a lot!) I love Z's games - have sung the National Anthem there for a few years now....love going on Friday for added treat of fireworks! glad to meet others here in town who are as.... dedicated as I am (and can understand why I set my alarm at 5:54am to check for NONEXISTENT EMH calendars!!!)

We're happy to have another "dedicated" chat pal! ;) You sound like a busy busy lady! It's neat that you've sung the Anthem at Z's games.

I know I am just getting to this thread and this may be answered later as I read...what's a podcast cruise? we want to go on a Disney cruise!

The podcast is a disney news talk show run by the DIS crew. You can listen on an ipod or on the computer. Just go to the main board page & you'll see it. They have a lot of dedicated listeners & are sponsoring a cruise.

Jenny, That sounds like work!

Stephanie, Love the cakes! The red velvet one sounds delish & the hippo is too cute!!

We had DH's company picnic at Rosethorn Park in Lafitte on Saturday. It was pretty nice under the shelter until about 3 then the breeze died down & it was hot! Corky's catered & the food was good & it was nice to see friends. But the heat really got to me.

How about when I more made I'll send ya one? No need to buy it!;)

I've been doing surveys on Sunshine Rewards today to build up my Disney fund. I've made $6 in the last few days.:woohoo: Figure I'll keep earning and clicking till October or when they have a Disney cash out special. Hopefully I'll have $100 for F&WF. If anyone else wants to join let me know.

hey I am new but interested in the sunshine rewards...

Terry we went to our local Hallmark store and just happened to stumble into the Webkinz craze. We left out of there with four new friends.

still catching up reading old posts...I am glad we aren't the only webkinz fiends.. I am the one who does all the darn gardening. I am just trying to get the darn donut plant....we have an obscene number of the critters in the house...sigh

Lori, That sounds like a great day!!! (all except the movie) What a good thing to do with your girls! :thumbsup2

Ok, no some food porn ;)

This is my Course III finale cake.
It is a two tiered vanilla-butter cake with chocolate frosting and white fondant.

still catching up.....wow you ladies are some prolific posters! your son is a doll! and how much do you charge for the cake....or just the fondant??? YUM!!!

A friend of mine once replied when someone remarked that her daughter would never remember an early trip, that THEY would always remember it! The fun they had and the experiences they gave their daughter would last forever. Our granddaughter Jacie loves to look at the pictures of her two trips to WDW.

because the adults show them the pics/scrap books over and over and talk about how much fun they had....there are many things I think I "remember" as a kid but it's really I remember my mom telling the stories over and over!

It's taken me awhile to get past the learning curve and get over that shyness of asking about things, but I think it's done me some good. I've gotten into the habit now and with the economy like it is....well girl, let me say it's coming in handy. I hit that freebie thread on the budget board like there's no tomorrow. If I find something on there really good I sign up everyone and their brother! I can't tell you the last time I bought toothpaste, detergent, deodorant, shampoo, etc.

so where do you sign up for these places??
