Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

OK, so I don't know what has gotten into DH lately, BUT he said I should really start planning our trip to Disney for next year...

:dance3:

He said to shoot for Mardi Gras time(Feb 24th or maybe a few weeks after?) or October....:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

So I guess I had better start planning! :beach:

Hey Kathy, I have been MIA lately too and i wanted to tell you that I looked for my paper(which i never read) that day Kyle was in the paper-but DH already pitched it. I told him about Kyle and he thought it was soo cool! I am also proud to know that such a talent is connected to us here on the NO Dis!! Something to look for in the news and paper. How exciting for your family and for Kyle!!!!

I hope all is going well. I have court in the morning for that accident I was in a couple months back. , plus I am working 4 days this week(Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun) to help someone be able to vacation this week. Field Day is Thursday, so , so much for academics this week!! Thankfully, my MIL and DH make sure they get thier work done and all I have to do is check it. I got the kids some Planet Earth DVD's from Walamrt that just came out so they can use them as a bit of science this week whicle DH is attemptimg to work on Friday when he is home with them.

Stanford testing is the first week of May and it is DD8's first time taking it, DD10's 3rd time. DD10 LOVES testing, yeah she is nutty:laughing: . But I am happy for it b/c she feels no pain about it. Hopefully this rubs off on DD8, and she does as well. Planning next years curriculum and getting this school year ready to wrap up. End of May we will be done and then we have 6 weeks off b/f starting up again. Summer is when i make my schedule for the year.

Have a great week!

Lori

Good morning, I have to apologize--I don't post for about a week, then when I do, I am venting. Didn't mean to bring anyone down.

Kathy, just wanted to tell you again what a great picture and article. I'm sure you've thought of this, but are you going to get it framed? Michael's was having a 50% off sale last week. I don't know if its still on.

Lori, my kids like the standardized testing too.

Lucas, LeCellier is DH's favorite Disney restaurant. DD also loved it. She is a "mashed potato connesieur", and says they have the best mashed potatoes she's ever had.

Good Morning!
Uh...Friday is 2 days away, what am I missing?
Wishful thinking, I guess! :rotfl:

Stephanie- Woo hoo, a trip in the works! Congrats! :cool1:

Lori- Good luck with the testing!

Mary- So glad to see you! :flower3: Sorry there were some spoil-sports at your DD's party. It seems there's always at least one in the bunch. And did you see that they changed the menu at Le Cellier! They got rid of the filet with those heavenly mashed potatoes and the wasabi shrimp appetizer! I saw that they still had mashed potatoes with the chicken entree, but still....:confused3

Because of the menu change at Le Cellier combined with that I think DD would get bored sitting there, I cancelled our ADR there (gasp!) and got Coral Reef instead. The food there is good and I think the fish tank will keep DD occupied long enough for us to enjoy our meal.

I also got an ADR for Kona Cafe. Kathy, I know this isn't a fave of yours- what didn't you like about it? It's not too late for me to change to something else. I must say, it was the drink menu that swayed me... isn't that sad, making an ADR because of the drink menu?!:rotfl:

Morning Y'all,

Mary, Don't feel bad about venting that's what we're here for!

Stephanie, Alexis will eat with chopsticks, but uses them to eat pasta with alfredo sauce! :confused3  :cool1: Another trip!!! Sometimes those men just keep surprising us!

Lori, Good Luck in court:hug: , I have another court date later this month for that accident I was in. I'm already stressing about it! You sure have a full week, take care of yourself.

Lorie, Did you consider Ohana with Lilo & Stich to keep Little Miss occupied?

I have a dr.s appt this morning with the rheumatologist. Would y'all say some prayers that he listens to me & we can figure this mess out! I'm going pick up both x-rays I had in Dec to bring with me, cus I really think there is something more than just fibro. Any way, wish me luck!

Have a good one everybody!

We already have 3 character meals planned for the trip- I don't think I can handle any more than that! :rotfl: Kona Cafe will be our only ADR without child amusement (hence my excitement about the drink menu- Lapu Lapu anyone? )

Good luck at the dr appt today!

OOOOHHH! THREE!:lmao: I see! ;) We've always liked Kona, but it has been a few years since we've been there. If Kona doesn't work out, there is a bar upstairs near Ohana, you could always get a drink & let Sienna run around looking at the fountain & birds in the lobby!!
;)

Lorie, I just checked the menu on allears.net. You think you could subsitute the mashed potatoes for the yukon potatoes? Maybe they would let you do that. After reading the menu, I have to say the Chocolate Whiskey Cake looked really good.

You betcha we're going to frame it!!:thumbsup2

If I'm not mistaken the drink menu is the same at all the resort restaurants, at least it was when we were there last year.

I think we've just been VERY unlucky with KONA, two years in a row it was our worst meal. We've fared pretty well with apps & desserts. Entrees have been really bad. Two years ago Kyle & I both got the Teriyaki Steak, neither were cooked to order and the pineapple salsa was missing, when our plates came back out the salsa was frozen. Johnny had the Mahi Mahi and he thought it was very bland. This past year we were all excited about the Tuna Oscar with the fried green tomatoes........the tomatoes were hard as rocks, you literally could not cut through them, the tempura crab was all tempura, very little crab and the wasabi hollandaise had no wasabi. We also had poor service and there is no ambiance at all, looks like a coffee shop.

Do you mean that all of the resort restaurants in WDW have the same drink menu, or that all of the restaurants at that one resort have the same drink menu (Ohana, Kona at the Poly)? Did that make sense?

That's too bad about Kona. :guilty: That Tuna Oscar looks really good too. If I keep changing the ADRs, DH is going to kill me! (and I think the Disney Dining CMs are going to think I'm a loon...)

That's a definite possibility! :lmao: "Go look at the pretty birds Sienna.... (guzzle, slurp)"

All of the resorts have a standardized drink menu, we saw the same one everywhere (Boardwalk, Contemp, Poly, Beach Club). I found this article that says something about it. Please don't change your ADR because of my experiences there, everyone else raves about the place!!

Well as long as I can get some girly frou-frou drinks somewhere (complete with paper umbrella- hey, I'm on vacation!) I guess I'm happy. I did notice the last time we were at CBR that the oh-so-delicious Caribbean Smuggler was gone from the pool bar menu, but was still on the menu at Shutters. I hope they don't get rid of it all together.

The upside of it for me was that I fell in love with the Skyy Berry Martini and I got to have one every night!:thumbsup2
