Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Yes Ward is still the developer. A lot of his homes are NOT well made, cheap.

My poor cousin used to work for them. Part of her job was handling customer complaints!!! She didn't stay with that job very long.... ;)

Lorie-Stay strong. If you tell her no at 8am make sure it is still no at 8 pm. They learn fast to annoy you to death to give in. Aiden is going into the same stage as her. Except he is so strong he doesn't need to bite. he throws all of his 27lbs into me and I have to wrestle him to do anything! He is so stubborn, he is going to have it his way or die!

On a happier note KURT JR WENT POOP ON THE POTTY TODAY!!!!!!!!! AND WE HAD ZERO ACCIDENTS!!!!!! IT WAS A PERFECT POTTY DAY!!!!!

I feel like I won a marathon. He has been peeing in the potty for a few days, about half the time he made it, half the time he didn't. Well today he made it every time, and didn't even wet his underwear. Then this afternoon he looked at me and said "I have to poo poo on the potty." Well he sat down. then he stuck his head between his legs and watched...lol. he stood up and said "I did it."

I went over to look and sure enough....POOP! OMG I shouted and danced and praised. Then he turned to me and said "We go to Chuck E Cheese's now?!"

Hehe that was the deal I made with him. If he went poop on the potty we would take him to Chuck e Cheese's. So guess where I am going this weekend! lol

Sorry about the potty talk, I am just so freakin excited. Now let's see if he can do it again tomorrow!

Stephanie - Don't apologize, as Moms we've all been there before and it is a major accomplishment!:thumbsup2 The stories are always funny too!!:goodvibes

Good Morning!

Stephanie- Hooray for perfect potty day! :cheer2: Believe me, I know those accomplishments make you feel like you've won the lottery. Have fun at Chuck E. Cheese! ;)

DD is still acting horrible, refused to eat her dinner last night and only ate her mango slices this morning (only fresh, she's a food snob :snooty: ). But when I was brushing her teeth last night I noticed that all of those back molars are coming in  , which may explain some of her new vampire tendencies and nasty disposition. We'll see- I hope this is a short phase!

Have a good day everyone! :flower3:

Morning Ladies:

Stephanie - Congrats to Kurt Jr....Way to go.:cheer2:

Lori - Sienna could very well be teething and does not want to eat in fear of it hurting. I hope this passes soon.

Morning Y'all,

Stephanie, :cool1: Congrats on the Perfect Potty Day!!! :goodvibes

Lorie, Teething surely would explain her change in appetite, biting & her stubborness! But gosh FRESH MANGO for breakfast! She surely will have some high falutin taste as she gets older! What's next Brennan's for Brunch?!!!;)

I also had parenting or "Nana-ing" stress this morning. I woke Alexis up this morning, she woke up happy & was extra chatty. Commenting on the great smell of her "not healthy" french toast waffles her Mom has allowed her to get hooked on. Took one bite then didn't want to eat any more. I told her she had to eat a few more bites or she'd be starving by lunch. She burst out in tears with " My Mommy doesn't make me eat all my waffle & My Mommy doesn't fuss at me, I want my Moooommy!" Wouldn't stop crying until I said she didn't have to eat it! I know she is trying to "work" me! But when I've got to get Bob off to work & her to school, I don't have time to fight her on this! :sad1:

Sounds like many of us are having problems with the little ones! I know I have to pick my battles on a daily basis. I'd never get anything done if I fought DD on every little thing!

And you would not BELIEVE the high falutin tastes this kid has! (when she's normally eating...) No canned, packaged, or frozen fruit- only fresh! Her favorite is mango, which she has about three times a week. No canned vegetables- only fresh, sometimes frozen depending on her mood. Drives me nuts! I don't know how she can tell the difference either, I always fix it the same way. Her favorite meal is ravioli tossed with pesto with a side of steamed broccoli. She also loves sushi. She's a bigger food snob than we are! :rotfl: I don't know how she got this way, she just always wanted to eat what we ate and wouldn't eat the toddler foods. :confused3

I know my boys don't eat much when their molars are coming in.

My boys are the same way, especially Aiden! No canned food for us for the last few years. My mom once asked me if they would eat Chef Boiardi! :lmao: Yeah ok! If it isn't homemade marinara sauce my kids won't go near it. Oh and Aiden is a chocolate snob too. He turns his nose up at Hershey's but will tackle me for Ghirardelli and Godiva.

Lorie, I'm really amazed she like pesto & sushi! I don't know how you keep her supplied with only fresh fruits & veggies every single day? Oh, I guess Todd really brings home the groceries!;)

I'm sure filling her fresh food requirements right now is extra work. But I really think you will be very grateful for her high falutin tastes as she gets older! I think parents really do "train" their kids tastes and end up causing themselves more work later on. When their kids are older won't eat what everyone else in the family is eating, then they'll wonder why.

I'm afraid my SIL is doing exactly that with Alexis!
A while back when Alexis & I made that homemade ravioli with the kale/ricotta filling, she only ate it that one time & not with the "green sauce" i.e. homemade freakin pesto that I put on it! I had to open a darn jar of alfredo sauce for her. The next day she wouldn't touch it. When she helps me cook, she will usually eat it that day, because she "made" it. But it hasn't really broadened her food horizons yet. I keep trying, but I think the daily "easy" foods (yuck easy mac & frozen waffles) my SIL & BIL allow her to have, is ruining her palate!

Stephanie & Lorie, my hats off to you two! I'm really impressed with y'all!

pesto, sushi, marinara & Ghirardelli!! Now these kids really have taste!!!

Steph & Lorie - Your kids will thank you one day. Kyle grew up on "adult" food and now he impresses his pals when they go out to dinner by what he orders. He's normal too - loves junk food.:goodvibes

Sheryl - Sorry Miss Alexis is testing you.

Lorie - Molars coming in could def be the problem!

Ok, y'all have to keep me off of the Dining Reviews board! popcorn:: That place is addictive and I think I gained 10 lbs just looking at the food porn! :lmao: I actually started making a list of must-do meals, snacks, and drinks for our next trip! It's going to be a lonnnggg wait until our trip in September....

Welcome to my addiction!! I have six lists going.:sad2:

Hi, I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. How's everyone been? I am going to go back a few pages and catch up.

Last week I was busy planning for DD's birthday party. She's 14!!!:goodvibes

I've learned this past week that no matter how hard I try to get the house, food and party stuff ready, it will a nervewracking day anyway. This has to do with some (not all) of my family members. It started when my SIL brought not only her kids (who were invited), but also her two dogs. She is the kind of person who thinks the world revolves around her and didn't even ask if it was okay. I'm a dog lover, but would never bring pets to a party. And to top that off, her child is a very picky eater, and I had to make him special food during the party. Normally, I don't mind, but you'd think she'd help make him a sandwich when I am making sure other stuff goes smoothly. Anyway, the kid is cute, so I guess I didn't mind too much. Everything started going smoothly, then my sister apparently didn't like the soft rock music I was playing over the speakers. She asked my other sister, rather loudly, if I had downloaded the music from crappymusic.com. Pardon my French. I just got so frustrated, I told my husband next year I am taking whoever's birthday it is to the restaurant of their choice. I don't know why some family members have to be that way.:sad2:

I am now going to go back a few pages and catch up.

Missed you Mary!

I'm so sorry your daughter's party was spoiled by family members. People who think the world revolves around them really irk me, it's being self-centered and that's one character flaw I can't tolerate. Sounds like you handled it as well as you could. Happy Birthday to your DD!!!!!!!!

If you have a chance, I posted a few links. Kyle pitched a no-hitter last week and got some press. I'm not really bragging, it's just that I had so much bad stuff happen during March, it feels good to have something positive to post!!:goodvibes

Wow, Kathy you must be so proud of Kyle! Congratulations!

Some of ya'll have brought back memories of when my kids were little, when you're proud of every little milestone:goodvibes

Good luck with everything Terry

Mary, Glad you checked in! Sorry the party was somewhat spoiled by Spoiled Adults!;)

Yeah Dh and I decided very early on that we wanted the boys to be able to eat and enjoy a wide variety of foods. Our kids can go with us to any restaurant and order anything off the menu. Kurt jr even likes to use chopsticks when we eat Chinese or sushi!
