Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

I hope it comes out good! :goodvibes That mojo marinade is so yummy!

Would you like to go on the WFD thread and post the recipe? Sheryl is asking for it.

Sorry, I am no good at all in figuring out the DDP & any other discounts.:sad2:

I don't mind posting the recipe for you if you don't have time.

Ooh, I'm intimidated to post a recipe there! Would you mind posting it? I actually have the contractor here again today and I should go see what is going on (new window in the kitchen door), so I gotta go- thanks!

Intimidated by the WFD thread? This recipe will blow them away. Of course I'll post it for you.:goodvibes

Lorie, You sure have no reason to be intimidated! It's just a bunch of ladies sharing good recipes & chatting anything & everything else that comes up in our hum-drum lives!

I don't know how I missed that recipe?:confused3

Audubon sounds like a dream school! It always has! We'll be hoping & praying that Sienna gets in & Mom doesn't get too stressed by the whole process!

And on WF's, would you like me to just bring you the money?!;) :lmao: Todd's working at the Magazine Store now, right? I'll try to head over to that one more often then.

I'm back! The contractor finished up very quickly, and I have a new window in my back door! :cool1: The kitchen is so much brighter now. :cloud9: I've lurked on the WFD thread and have seen very amazing photos of gourmet dinners! I'd feel like Linguini from Ratatouille on there! :rotfl: Thanks for posting, I didn't realize he's be done so quickly or I could have posted it.

You're too funny! Yep, Todd works at the Magazine store now. He handles all customer complaints (you couldn't PAY me to do that!), so all you'd have to do is complain to get his attention- er, just kidding! No seriously, he is in charge of that, which would be why he's stressed all of the time! He knows that some DISers shop at Whole Foods, so if you ran into him, he wouldn't be freaked out.

Lorie something new in 2008 on the Dining Plan is that the tip is no longer included. I just thought I'd throw that out there for you while you are deciding what to do.

Glad you have a new window, that was quick!:goodvibes

Maybe I'll have to go see Todd with a fake complaint! Really freak him out! Although I couldn't find the hummus again! And if he could get them to lower the prices I'd be really happy! :lmao: Actually my DD gave me a pretty good tip for shopping there! Always look for the 365 brands! Now you know, I was like duh! But when I got in there, I realized I don't always see the 365 one right away & would usually grab the one that caught my eye!

:rotfl2: That's why I don't post pics!!

On the WFD thread there are 2 sisters who I consider literally gourmet cooks! They do post some amazing pics, but it's usually just those 2 with the great pics. When I cook something I think looks great I'll put up a pic, I've gotten used to the "Liam Sister's" food always looking way better than mine! Everyone else is just regular ole wives & Mom's like us. Most everyone is just looking for new ideas, so we don't cook the same darn things all the time! What I do like about having "fancy" cooks on the thread, is it opens my eyes to new things & different foods. Like arugula! I mean I've eaten arugula at rests. but never bought it. I'm hooked on it now, with just olive oil & lemon juice & you make your dinner look really fancy with it & some creative plating!

And like tonight, I'm going to fix fish tacos! I've never eaten a fish taco! :confused3

Lorie - Please don't be intimidated and feel free to come join us. Like Sheryl said the "Liam sisters" are in a league of their own and I adore them both, in fact some of us :worship: them, especially their Sunday linners:cloud9: . The rest of us are just normal everyday cooks and I can't even guess how many new recipes I've tried.:goodvibes

Long ago, I used to give shoppers tips on cheap shopping at Whole Foods- I'll see if I can remember some of them:
-365 products are strategically priced through comp shops to be the same price or lower than local competitors, so they are always a good price. A gallon of 365 milk actually is cheaper right now than other grocery stores.

-Lots of bargains can be found on the bulk aisle! Start using bulk grains like rice, quinoa, flour, beans, etc in your cooking- much cheaper than buying it pre-packaged (and better for you too!). Same goes for spices- buy the loose spices in the jars.

-Produce will usually have whatever is in season on sale

-The 365 frozen vegetables are good quality and pretty cheap

-Meat dept- really hard to find deals here! :rotfl: The chicken sausages are very good and aren't too expensive.

-Look for whatever is on Market Special that week. Every dept has a certain number of Market Specials that they have to have at any given time

-There is almost always one brand of yogurt on sale

-ask for a coupon booklet at customer service. The cashiers usually have them as well- good bargains here.

Hope this helps save a little money- I also complain to DH about the prices. Hey, I'm a customer too!

I'll try not to be intimidated by those pretty pics! :rotfl: I'm also not a big recipe person- I come from the "put some of this, some of that, stir, taste, cook some more, it's done!" school of cooking. I have to work on that.

Lorie, Thanks for the tips, I sure could use them! I guess for me, I've really become kind of spoiled. I don't have to watch every penny when I go to a "regular" grocery, but I can't afford to be like that at WF! And I forget that when I'm there!

I couldn't go to Kyle's game today because of a conference call for work and I was way to nervous to go, but it was a big game in 8-4A. Johnny started updating me about an hour ago and he was pitching a no-hitter. It ended with him indeed getting his first no-hitter of his career. The Times-Picayune interviewed him after the game and there should be an article in the sports section tomorrow if anyone's interested!:goodvibes

TGIF Ladies! :cool1:

Kathy I just looked and I didn't see anything. :confused3 Congrats to Kyle, that is such an accomplishment. :thumbsup2

I'm back in New Orleans - wasn't it great this past weekend.
I only have one dog (Tchoupy) with me. I left little Breaux with my dad for company. I think Tchoups is enjoying a break from the puppy.

How did they fare with the fierce weather last night? I immediately thought about you when I saw the tornado warnings on the Weather Channel last night, wondering whether you were here or back in Arkansas.

WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!WAY TO GEAUX KYLE!!!!!

I just found the article! There is an AWESOME pic of your baby boy posted on-line! It's on the left side when you click under the Prep Sports heading. There are a few other pics from the game as well.

They beat Vandy....well, I might pout just a teeny bit (I've got relatives there), but WOO HOO for a no-hitter! Gloat away Mom & Dad! :cheer2:

Kathy, I don't blame Johnny one bit! So how many papers is he going to go buy?

I mean with this article come on I would be gloating! "Blancaneaux's pitching gem was the catalyst in upending the Terriers and spoiling an undefeated season" !!!! It doesn't get any better than that!!!! Tell Kyle is Aunt Sheryl is sooo proud!!!!;) ;)
