Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Julie, what a great surprise that will be for Rie.:thumbsup2

I have to watch my big mouth! As you have probably noticed, I tend to share what's on my mind and my mind needs to steer clear of the GF when I'm with Rie.

Yesterday we saw the Imagination Movers in concert here in Houston. They really put on a good show, and we even met Rich and Scott after the show; really nice guys. Of course, it also doesn't hurt that they're from NOLA. ;)

During the show, up on the second level to stage left, there was a guy holding up a chalkboard. On it was the Saints/Giants score: 41-17 (at the time)! :woohoo: A little bummed that I missed watching the game, but not much. Rich also announced the score a little later during the concert.

I don't know what the Imagination Movers are ut I'm glad you enjoyed the show!

The Imagination Movers come on every day on Disney Channel at 9:00 (I think). They're a rock band that plays songs for kids. In the show they also solve problems for people. I had heard of them before they were on Disney, but never really heard their music until then.

We live just south of Houston in Pearland. The show was downtown at the Verizon Wireless Theater.

Hey y'all!

DH put up our super gaudy Halloween decor- it's awesome! :rotfl: We always get tons of trick or treaters because of our display, so I better stock up on the candy! DD is now over her Halloween fears, I'm SO happy to announce, so we can have fun this year! :cool1: She is going to be a witch for Halloween this year and she can't wait to go trick or treating!

So I finally got the PIN code I've been waiting for that I can actually use- 30% off in May!:cool1: I'm booking tomorrow- woo hoo!! Nine nights at All Star Movies- :dance3:

Serena- I have no advice, but I can sympathize with the financial troubles, especially now that DH is taking a pay cut. Things are going to be lean around here too.

Jamie- I'm so sorry that everything went down the way it did. From what you've posted in past though, it sounds like it is for the best. Take care of yourself-

Lori- I'm with Lauri- I'm anxiously awaiting your next TR installment! popcorn::

Kathy- I'm sorry to read about your dental issues. I hope the rest of your trip goes fantastic with no more troubles! :wizard:

Sheryl- Thanks for the updates- sound like y'all are having a great time!

Kristina- Sorry about your neck and migraine troubles- hope you feel better soon!

Ooooh...I might need to check it out if I'm out your way! We don't have any Halloween decorations. Actually, we don't really have decorations for any holiday, aside from Christmas ornaments we don't have a tree for.

Yay on the PIN code!!

You should come trick or treat at our house- we've got the good candy! No "chump candy", as DH puts it- :rotfl: Mostly chocolate- stuff we wouldn't mind eating if we had a lot left over....:rolleyes1

I got a pin code too! We have reservations at our home resort for April. I never use pts. for weekend stays because it takes too many. I think that I'll use the pin code for the weekend.

:yay:Rie told Derwood they were taking a break. Hopefully, it's permanent! :yay:

Great news all around! I thought about y'all the other night when I saw an HGTV commercial for a Halloween special they're doing on extreme decorating. I bet he'd love to try out some of their ideas!
:yay:Rie told Derwood they were taking a break. Hopefully, it's permanent! :yay:
More good news...."Derwood"....:rotfl:that still cracks me up.

I am so embarassed to have it go this way. I was just too tired, too stressed, and too emotionally drained to even begin to put myself even further in the middle. I've just been putting off the inevitable. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
:grouphug: Based on some of your recent posts, I think deep down you knew this had to happen. I know, however, you've got to be ready for it to be over. It's going to be tough, but I hope you can see the clearer picture. Take your time & get yourself better. We're here when you're ready to vent & scream.

Cool! I wish my two were a little bit younger - the Movers are totally off their radar now.

So how are our two NOLA gals doing in WDW? Kathy, hope the dental issues & pain have been resolved.

Good morning:)

Scoot - Imagination Movers--gotta love fellow Saints fans:cheer2:

I was wondering about Kat and Sheryl this morning, also. I hope their having the best time and NO pain.

Julie-"Derwood":lmao:

Lorie-Todd is so funny. No "chump candy". :lmao:

Jamie- how are you today?

What's everyone's favorite Halloween candy? Mine are Milky Ways, Three Musketeers and Butterfingers. YUM!

Morning all! Another pretty day.

Bethany, it was fun chatting with you last night. Can't wait to meet you in person.

We put up some decorations this weekend too. We don't do too much for halloween but a lot of our neighbors do something so we try to add to the neighborhood decor.

Great news on the pin code! Have fun planning!

We buy good stuff to for that very reason. I figure with halloween on a Saturday, we'll have a ton of kids so I bought lots of candy.

:scared1: But it's going to MEEEEEEEELT! :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

good for her!!

butterfingers and snickers are my favorites

GM - yes it's a beautiful morning.

My favorite candies are Hersheys and peanut butter cups.

Have a good day.....I have all day to get prepared for screaming girls tonite at the Miley Cyrus concert!

No "chump candy" here either. I typically buy two big bags of a chocolate mix from Sam's and a 3rd bag of a something like SweetTarts / Skittles / Runts / Starburst. This year the crowd will be tough to determine, however, with it being @ the same time as the LSU - Tulane game. On the one hand, I know we'll have several neighbors @ the game, but on the other hand it is Tulane....I bet there will be a few more house parties going on since it is a Saturday night.

Favorites....anything chocolate! And if anything dark chocolate, like the Milky Way Midnights, happen to fall in the bag ...

Oh, and the melting problem is easy to fix - stick it in the fridge or freezer! Those bite-size Milky Ways & 3 Musketeers are awesome that way!

I always have a good laugh when I think about Halloween candy.

Many years ago I bought a house in University Park (very nice neighborhood in Dallas area) - back when you could still buy a cute little 1940s bungalow before they were all torn down for the McMansions.

My neighbors warned me that we got LOTS of trick or treaters. Bus loads of kids. We had a reputation for giving out lots of candy so we were a magnet for much of the inner city.

Now my problem with Halloween candy has always been eating it all before the big day and having to buy it over and over again. So that year I decided to buy bags of Skittles. I think I bought like six big Sam's bags of those things.

Well for some reason that year we just got a normal number of trick or treaters - I think I had at least FIVE bags of skittles left over. None of my friends with kids wanted any more candy, and I didn't want them. I think I kept taking it to work for a couple of years until it was all gone.

I haven't eaten a skittle since.

Yes, Tricia, I have to agree with you--the Skittles could sit right in front of me all day and I wouldn't be tempted. Give me the chocolate stuff!

I like the autumn part of Halloween, but I'm not into anything gory or haunted houses or anything. I'm not big on candy, but I'll eat tootsie pops, starburts, skittles, and stuff like that. I'd like to carve a pumpkin if I can find some time, but I have a LOT of cleaning up to do in the wake of Typhoon Tony.

I think I'm doing a little better. He came yesterday to get his truck and foosball table. He didn't even ask to see Louie. :sad1: Talked to him a little last night and he's trying to play the victim card. As if! He was content as a clam, while I was at the breaking point trying to pay bills and shoulder all the other responsibilities. Still, I don't hate him; we are just incompatible in what we want in life, but I feel like I will resent him for a while. :confused3

Hope we hear from our Disney girls soon. I keep trying to go back to my TR, but I'm just not ready yet.

Haven't had time to catch up, hope everyone is well, hugs if not my friends.:grouphug:

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts! After a really rough start this is turning out to be an awesome vacation!

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous so far. We move to Portofino Bay Hotel tomorrow, really looking forward to it. I have to say I LOVE SSR, it is a stunning resort and our room location is :thumbsup2:thumbsup2.

I don't think I have ever laughed as much on a vacation in my entire life, we have had a total blast. I also have a new fave restaurant - Citricos is unbelievable...the Crab Gateau appetizer is the best thing I have ever eaten and the Veal Shank is awesome. Just love everything about this place!!!!

I hope to get back on and update on US/IOA and Portofino Bay!

Hugs to everyone!!!!!:grouphug:

3 Musketeers and Reese's peanut butter cups!

I do not think I have had a trick or treater since I lived at my parent's house. I never buy Halloween candy. Halloween in NYC is dangerous and they would make us leave work right at 3 so we could get home right away and stay home.

Bethany, it was fun chatting with you last night. Can't wait to meet you in person.

Me too!

:headache: <<<You tonight. ;)

Yes, Tricia, I have to agree with you--the Skittles could sit right in front of me all day and I wouldn't be tempted. Give me the chocolate stuff!

I used Skittles (sparingly) in NYC as behavior rewards. I had to use them because chocolate melted in the classroom (crayons too). Yes, the rooms would get that hot. Also, they can sit there and I won't eat them. The other teachers wouldn't come raid them either. :rotfl2:

 Don't worry too much about your TR. It will be there when you're ready for it.

I'm not into Halloween either. :confused3 Never really have been, although we did go trick or treating as kids. Like Tricia, we lived in one of those neighborhoods known for the good candy and our neighborhood would be FULL of kids...most of them driven in from other parts of town. Some of our neighbors gave out full size candy bars. One house would line them up all nice on a silver platter (no lie) and hold it out and let you pick which kind you wanted. My parents just got the big bags of those little "fun size" bars from Costco.

I'm glad that you are feeling a little better, and also that you didn't buy into his whining. Stay strong.

I am so glad to hear your trip is turning out awesome after such a rotten start! :cool1: I'm glad you love SSR; I've heard some mixed reviews. Somewhere on this computer of mine I have photos from the REAL Saratoga Springs up in NY. If I find them I'll let you know. :thumbsup2

Enjoy the rest of your trip! I can't wait to hear about US/IOA and Portofino Bay! I've never been to either.
