Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

"Underwater" is the (bizarre) term for when you owe more on your mortgage than your house has been re-appraised at, right? The first time I heard the term was in a headline something like "50% of Homes in Las Vegas are Underwater" and I was sooooo confused
Yes - it is a funny term. That term didn't exist back in the 80s when it happened to me - but boy it sure did feel like trying to breathe while under water.

Haven't read back...I need prayers my friends...Tooth pain was horrible when we arrived yesterday, ended up getting a root canal on my first day of vacation, felt much better afterward and was able to have a decent evening and dinner with Sheryl, Bob, Lauren & Charlene. BUT pain started again during the night and I have an other dentist appointment in two hours.:sad1:
How awful! In 2003 I had a great dinner at Boma with a friend from VA - the next morning my side hurt. At 10 that night my appendix came out! Not the best trip.

Lori - wouldn't it be great if you did not have to move!

I'm planning a surprise for Marie. She gets to choose the resort for each trip and never chooses the GF although she always comments when we're on the monorail that she should have. For the first 5 nights, we have 2 rooms at CSR for our group of 8. On the 25th, half of them are leaving, so I've booked the last 3 nights at the GF. She knows that I'm surprising her with a different resort ut she thinks it's the RPR at Universal. I'm ging to tell them that we have an ADR at 1900 Park Fare and go to checkin and get the room keys!
Hope it will be a success!

Last year, at the school in NYC, some lady came in for a workshop (oh...those were the best :rolleyes1 :lmao:) and we were told to illustrate how the amount of paperwork at the school made us feel. Every. Single. Person. in the room drew a person drowning. :headache: There was just so much of it that you could NEVER get it all done. As soon as you got close to finishing one thing, they'd assign a new set of paperwork to do. And anytime we got close to a break, they'd REALLY pile it on and have something crazy like a "Learning Walk" (read: come through your room to look for things that weren't done to their satisfaction) for the day we would come back. Okay ... I can't talk about that place. I can feel my entire body tensing up right now just from typing that.

I almost spit out my coffee this morning. I was reading about a Fall Fair Trick or Trunk event where they wanted people to donate candy - with the stipulation that it was NOT chocolate or "something that could melt". NEVER have I had an issue with anything melting at Halloween. :rotfl::rotfl2:

Ooooh!!! That will be fun! You have to take pictures of her reaction!!

Why do we have to be playing NY again?!? Three NY teams in a row. UGHHHHHHH.

I am :lmao: right now. At the beginning of the game, I was chatting with a bunch of different people from NY. They slowly started to just vanish off the computer. NONE are left at this point. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:

hey all! have had a lot of problems with my neck lately - wake up and it is killing me. migraines on top of it almost daily ugh

Kat - hope you are doing better and have a great time the rest of your stay with Sheryl!

Serena - hugs and praying for your situation.

Aww Bethany, well at least your getting it over with!

Gotta give it to them Saints though!

Kristina- hugs and prayers your way:hug:

Kathy- ugh! Happy healing in Disney though- I have personally seen healing happen there!

Sheryl- LOVING the updates!

You sound like your having a blast! Paul was green when I read to him about the guys going to watch the game together at ESPNzone-sooo cool! As I was reading your posts to him and telling him about Kathy(which he cringed about), he told me it sounds so cool to go and enjoy Disney in that capacity.
Whereas we LOVE spoiling our kids and do NOT want them grow up TOO fast, it is kinda cool to look forward to those days in our future. Looking forward to MANY more family vacations before that time hits!

Lori

Lori

That is true! All done now! I have been getting some grief for my status updates, as you saw! :rolleyes1

One person made it sound like I followed the Jets or Giants while I lived there. I don't think I watched one single game for either team in the 4 years I lived there! :lmao:

The only NY team I paid any mind to was the Yankees and I have to be in the mood to watch baseball (i.e., bored). They're in the playoffs and their game on Saturday went into the 13th inning. The 9th-13th innings were actually interesting and I DID watch those!

Then today I watched part of the Patriots game just because of the snow. I really shouldn't have; I had a migraine and wasn't thinking totally straight, as evidenced here:

They were playing Tennessee; both teams had on their old uniforms and when I turned on the game it went something like this:
Me: "Oh, Look! The Patriots are playing....in the SNOW!"
DH: "Who are they playing?"
Me: "Uhhh....the....HUH? Oilers?!? What!?" :confused3 *Checks team name on score* "Tennessee....Oilers?...*mutters* Tennessee's not known for oil..."
DH: "They're not the Oilers! They're the Titans!"
Me: "But they have oil derricks on their heads!"

Sheryl - Any new updates? Like Lori, I am enjoying them.

Kathy - I hope your ankle and mouth are both feeling better.

Evening Y'all,

Well our plans changed due to poor Kathy having to go back to the dentist. Bob & I had already paid for a wine demo so we went to that, instead of going to watch the game. Dumb idea! We still got to join in the hooping & hollering of Saint's fans all around getting phone updates on the game.

We made no mistakes this evening though, went out with our WFD gang & had an absolute blast! Kathy felt better too & we all went out to dinner. I haven't laughed that much in forever! So much fun, our girl Lauren has been converted to a Who Dat! We also got to meet a friend from Scotland! How cool is it that we were dining & having fun with people from all over the our country plus a great girl from Scotland! We had just a wonderful wonderful time tonight. Just like when we Nola girls get together, it was like being with dear old friends! Oh & CG was fantastic too! :cloud9:

It's wonderful that Kat is feeling better!!!
I'm so happy that y'all had a great time and made another convert!:rotfl:

Today as I was driving home from work at 5pm, my mom called to see if I was home yet. I'd been home about 5 minutes when my doorbell rang. It was my mom and dad, come to yell at Tony (who was still asleep) for not cutting the grass and just generally not doing what he's supposed to do and to shape up or ship out. The better part of an hour was spent with my mom yelling at Tony while I sat on the couch. The last part of the hour was an all out screaming match between the three of them.

Tony kept saying he would go if I told him to (I told him to two Sundays ago, but you see how that turned out). And they kept asking if I wanted him to go.

I've been distancing myself and mentally preparing for the fact that he wouldn't get a job by December (his shape up deadline), but I didn't want him to go today. I guess deep down there was a slight hope that he loved me enough to prove it and get his act together.

After all this and repeatedly with the "leave" "I'll leave if she tells me to" "do you want him to leave" and everything escalating (mostly b/c Tony can't keep his mouth shut and just say "yes, I'll straighten up") I finally said "just go."

Which was followed by an elaborate and lengthy show of packing. This is the part where when we did this alone, he would stop packing to shout some more, and then try talking and buy himself some more time. My mom was all worked up and POed and started cleaning (my house is a complete wreck b/c I refused to do house work while I was the only one working and Tony's idea of contributing to the housework was cooking dinner at 10 o'clock at night, leaving the leftovers to sit out all night and leaving the dirty dishes for an inderterminate amount of days).

Mom and dad would not leave until he left and he was taking his time (probably waiting for them to leave so he could stay). His truck had a flat tire (for months) so he had to pump it up, then it wouldn't start b/c the battery was dead, then my dad tried jumping his battery, but it wouldn't hold a charge, then my dad put his truck battery in Tony's truck, but it flooded, then they called a cab and apparently my dad made him get in the cab by saying the next car that came would be a squad car, and finally at 10pm the taxi pulled away - to Kenner I presume.

I am so embarassed to have it go this way. I was just too tired, too stressed, and too emotionally drained to even begin to put myself even further in the middle. I guess I figured now is as good a time as any; Save myself even more stress; I've just been putting off the inevitable. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I guess when you can't even have fun at Disney World together it's a sure sign things are really bad.

Jamie - I'm sorry it ended that way.

Sheryl- I was hoping there was an update from you! I'm soooo glad to hear Kathy is better and that your CG meal together with all (err, most) of the WFD gang! So does Scotlass talk like that in person? Inquiring minds want to know. ;) You got LAUREN to convert?!? Wow you really can be persuasive!

I hope the rest of your trip continues to be as wonderful as your dinner last night! :goodvibes

Jamie,:hug:I am so sorry. You seem like you are a strong person, and you have parents that love you and look out for you. Stay strong.

Serena, I have no advice, just:hug:

Kristina, I hope your neck feels better as the day goes on.

Kat, I hope today is the start of a pain-free day for you:goodvibes

Sheryl, I am enjoying the heck out of your posts. Your dinner sounds so nice. Great friends and great food:thumbsup2

Morning all! What a great weekend! Beautiful weather and what about dem Saints!!!

Serena - we did CCCS a lot of years ago and it worked for us. I understand that tight financial bind and hope you can work things out.

Tricia - congrats on the condo!!

Lori - It would be nice for this to work out. I’ll say some prayers for that. I know this rollercoaster is getting old for you.

Aww, Kathy  I hope you get relief and are able to enjoy your trip.

Once again, welcome to New Orleans!!:woohoo::lmao:

hey all! have had a lot of problems with my neck lately - wake up and it is killing me. migraines on top of it almost daily ugh
!

I hope you can figure out the cause and get relief soon.

Jamie,. I'm sorry that you are going thru this. I think your parents did a good thing for you. They realized that you weren't happy and that you didn't have the emotional strength to do what needed to be done. Please don't let him back in unless he straightens up. If he really loves you he will do so. As a parent with a daughter in a similar situation, I can see how your parents reacted. I know it was uncomfortable for you, but they love you and just want whats best for you.

I'm sorry things have turned out this way for you. You're lucky to have parents who want to help. Now that a decision has been made, you may find that your mood will lighten and you'll feel better. Often, it's coming to that point that can drain every ounce of strength. We're here for you.:grouphug:

Kat - hope you are doing better and have a great time the rest of your stay with Sheryl!

Serena - hugs and praying for your situation.

I'm sorry that I missed your post. I hope you feel better soon. You have sinuses in the back of your head right above your neck. It may be a sinus infection back there that is giving you problems.

Julie, what a great surprise that will be for Rie.:thumbsup2

Jamie- you have GOOD parents. I am sorry for it to be that way too, but if it was that bad and you wanted him around b/c it was a habit, and you waited for change long enough. WAY long enough. Now YOU need time to heal too. Do not let him back. Get yourself together first, heal emotionally and don't even think about letting him in. When you have yourself together THEN he comes back, you will have a clear mind and will have clarity to figure out if you should or not. I know, honey, easier said than done:hug::hug:. You're in my prayers.

Sheryl- thanks for the update! I am soooo enjoying them. Keep 'em coming!

Kathy-healing healing healing...........:hug::hug::hug:

If any of you are interested, my church, St Timothy UMC, is having thier 1st annual Trunk or Treat this Sunday, Oct 25(also Paul's 40th!), from 4-6pm. I am doing the van up in Disney-none of my friends are suprised.

We have bible study right after till 7:30pm so I wouldn't be able to hang out after, but thought I'd throw it out there!

Lori

Hey Lori - I know you've been busy and all, but when are you gonna finish your trip report??

Yesterday we saw the Imagination Movers in concert here in Houston. They really put on a good show, and we even met Rich and Scott after the show; really nice guys. Of course, it also doesn't hurt that they're from NOLA. ;)

During the show, up on the second level to stage left, there was a guy holding up a chalkboard. On it was the Saints/Giants score: 41-17 (at the time)! :woohoo: A little bummed that I missed watching the game, but not much. Rich also announced the score a little later during the concert.
